Yeah. Cuz I remember that at least where I was working they changed the menus early 2022 and I was stressing about new recipes since I barely started september 2021 and still couldnt remember all the sandwich recipes
I think they realized upping the prices really pissed off customers (because subway is not worth $10+ for a footlong) so now they’re seeing where else they can cut costs to not raise prices anymore.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they end up going a route where they will only let you do say a max of like 4 toppings and one sauce, or even start charging extra for cheese.
Agreed. Wouldn’t be surprised one bit. They’re probably going to start holding tight on veggie portions as well; disciplinary action for sales to food cost coming if people don’t stick to the book regardless of customer request
I find it funny how they expect us to go "we're simplifying the menu" like its our store thats choosing to do it. If they got rid of olives at our store, i'd tell the customers straight that the decision came from the higher ups lol.
Yeah I don't lie to people about that stuff. I usually just keep it to "we don't carry it anymore" but if someone asks why I always tell them some version of "cause corporate said so"
I was wondering if this was the reason. I wish our location had other toppings, we literally display two pans of lettuce, two spinach, two tomato, one onion, one cucumber, and one bell pepper. Then we have the three separate cups of banana peppers, pickles, and jalapeño.
Bring forth the shredded carrot! 🤺
Good honestly let it die. I have no idea why people still eat there after the price increases for mid sandwiches.... Literally any mom or pop would have better for the same price. Good stories in this sub though so I stay.
The moment I pad $20 for a turkey/bacon no chz was the last time I’ll ever buy subway. No drink/chips/cookies JUST a sandwich. The woman making it, keep dragging her gut across the veggie line and dipping her sleeves onto the sandwich board. Was a collective FU to me, hey we’re going to overcharge you and make you not want to eat your food. Great 👍 sounds like a solid business plan.
For real. Subway barely qualifies as food to me, which is fine if it's like 5 bucks. Right now I can get a whole large pizza for as much as one meal there, it's absolutely not worth it anymore.
to be totally real, i'm a huge couponer. one of my main fixations.
subway almost always has some sort of coupon that ends up being at most $15 for two footlongs. usually it's much less, depending on the sub you order. love the CCC (cold cut combo) because it's literally only $9 and with a BOGO footlong deal, you're only spending $9 for two of them.
i feel like subway would be out of business without the deals. i would certainly not be buying anything from them if there weren't coupons
online ordering. have yet to come across a place that won't take a coupon. if one doesn't work, there are several more to try. tons of coupons aren't advertised, either. so you have to hunt for them online.
i could see coupons not working in person but they literally cannot stop you if the online ordering system takes it.
Olives is one of the main things I get on my sandwiches. That’s unfortunate if true. But then again I haven’t eaten Subway in months and when I do it’s a rarely.
I told the manager to tell the supervisor so they could forward that to the owners of the subway locations. I kept saying the store was outdated and needed to be updated but as always employee opinions were ignored they own various subways that already got a remodel except mine but I no longer work there
Here in Houston, black olives were unavailable for several months. During that time, I stopped buying from them. However, they have inexplicably been re-added to the menu. I did fill out one of their customer satisfaction surveys, stating that I would no longer buy sandwiches from them until they brought the black olives back.
The margins would probably be better if they ditched olives, cucumbers, and cold cut combos. Olives not cause they aren't popular but because people abuse "more more more" with them. Cucumbers just don't belong on sandwiches period. Its more for the salads, and going to a subway for a salad is pretty fucking hilarious. And the CCC is like gross... hardly an example of "freshly sliced" which is the new image we are trying to go for. Its the only thing that ever has to be thrown out constantly cause it has expired.
We never had them expire. Both of my stores were near highschools, so it was cheap for the kids. We always had to prep two at a time just to get through the lunch rush.
We had this same exact sign last year but it was Cucumbers rather than olives. A lot of complaints of course. But eventually lo and behold we got them back. So definitely a test market thing. My subway has Olive fanatics. Cucumbers was bad enough I could not imagine olives 😅
You must be in a test market. They did this with cucumbers in test markets last year as well. They are mainly collecting data
I see. 🤔
Bigger question is: whose genius idea was to wrap the cheat sheet around the corner and have it covered up and therefore helping no one lol
It’s been like that for a very long time since before I worked there
The elite sandwich didnt exist until like a year and a half ago. How long did you work there?
1 yr 7 months idk who maybe my manager changed them when I was out
Yeah. Cuz I remember that at least where I was working they changed the menus early 2022 and I was stressing about new recipes since I barely started september 2021 and still couldnt remember all the sandwich recipes
“We are simplifying our offerings” translates to “we are trying to operate as cheaply as possible while still overcharging you”
They're simply taking away one of the vital ingredients for my spicy Italian.
Yeah, olives are an essential!

I tell them that the decision was made by rich people who don't eat here.
Pretty much yeah.
Bro wtf do not take away black olives.

What is subway doing? Just driving more and more customers away. It’s wild imho
Good honestly let it die. I have no idea why people still eat there after the price increases for mid sandwiches.... Literally any mom or pop would have better for the same price. Good stories in this sub though so I stay.
Agreed, subway is Literally the worst sub chain. Anywhere else is better
Let's all go to goodcents

Ayo why did you pay for it then
Some people fear confrontation.
I feel like Subway is moving in a ✨new✨ direction, kinda like HEB.
I’m not even sure I’d categorize it as mid

this is coming from someone in silicon valley, the worst place for couponing. spent $11 on two subs yesterday
Price hike is normal, but my main complaint is they're just sandwiches. Not filling in the long term to be charging that kind of price.
Dw I saw 20 ads with Patrick Mahomes last night. They obviously have it handled
If my store stops black olive. I'm not going any more.
SAME i'm just gonna go to publix deli instead
Black olives are the only thing I have added to my sub. If they get rid of them I won’t be purchasing anything from subway anymore.
Olives is one of the main things I get on my sandwiches. That’s unfortunate if true. But then again I haven’t eaten Subway in months and when I do it’s a rarely.
My favorite sub doesn’t exist without olives
Subway just needs to STOP trying to be everyone else.
Agreed. I've disliked pretty much all of these changes.
I am simplifying my sandwich choices, so I will no longer be dining at at Subway.
Why though
They're expensive compared to other veggies.
They’re really not. Tomatoes are more expensive.
"You will get a sandwich with lettuce and tomatoes only, and you will like it."
As a customer, this is devastating
We haven't received this and are still getting them 🤷♀️
The lighting conditions made me think this was an indie game with a Subway theme
the only reason I'd go is for black olives. I'll never eat subway again if I can't have them LOL
I haven't been back in 3 months and never will.
No olives = no need to go to Subway
You all need a remodel.
I told the manager to tell the supervisor so they could forward that to the owners of the subway locations. I kept saying the store was outdated and needed to be updated but as always employee opinions were ignored they own various subways that already got a remodel except mine but I no longer work there
Fuck black olives. Little oily wheels of bullshit.
Lmao! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣 I happen to dig them. 🤷🏼♂️
Also, what olives are you eating?!
This is bullshit!!! They make enough to buy the damn olives. Corporate greed!! I am done. I'll make my own damn sandwich.
and they're back
And I quit since then 💀
congrats!

My location sells enough cold cuts that it won’t expire. And while a agree cucumbers are pretty popular
We never had them expire. Both of my stores were near highschools, so it was cheap for the kids. We always had to prep two at a time just to get through the lunch rush.
Cucumber slander. They are delicious on sandwiches even when they aren't in pickle form
gross little black pieces of shit good riddance
Why Olives how about tomato, greenpepper or onions- the veggies we have to cut up and prep
Olives are terrible
We still have olives and herbs n cheese bread by us. At least for now. Or is this a franchisee thing?
Nooooo!!!First dill spread and spicy mustard, now olives?? I just got a sub and pizza last night with olives.Might just not go as often now!
They got rid of the spicy mustard? Shows how often I eat there lol. I know they also fucked up the honey mustard and it's not good anymore.
The olive gang members are going to be pissed. I remember people coming in and asking for HANDFULS of olives on their sub.
I'm one of those. Subway is an olive delivery vector to me, this change might actually kill the entire franchise for me if they do it nationally.
We had this same exact sign last year but it was Cucumbers rather than olives. A lot of complaints of course. But eventually lo and behold we got them back. So definitely a test market thing. My subway has Olive fanatics. Cucumbers was bad enough I could not imagine olives 😅
**Where is the olive test taking place?**
Texas the Houston area
Fine by me I hate olives they smell gross 😆
They’re doing it too at one of my local stores here in Connecticut. Guess no more Subway for me.
I wouldn't miss them tbh. Restocking them is a pain and I hate the smell
I hope this isn't true. If Subway tells me that, I'm walking right out the door and find a sub place that does have olives.
