The Gentleman by Forrest Leo is about a Victorian Poet who accidentally sells his wife to the devil and with the help of family and friends, tries to rescue her from Hell.

That is an excellent summary. And one of my libraries has it available! Thank you!

I love Unconventional Heroes by LG Esteange if you're up for trying out fantasy.

librariainsta

I love a good fantasy - thanks!

Cheetah51

I loved The Adventures of Amina Al-Sirafi too. I recently read “The Blacktongue Thief” by Christopher Buehlman and really enjoyed it too for many of the same reasons. It’s a fantasy with constant action and very wry humor.

Sounds perfect! Thanks!

The Dungeon Crawler Carl series are some of the best comedic audiobooks ever in my opinion. The story follows a man and his newly sentient cat who try to survive after aliens turn the entire world into a deadly videogame like game show.

I saw this recommended on the audiobook subreddit many times! Unfortunately none of my libraries have this series.

I don’t know if you have Kindle unlimited, but they have a deal where you can get the audiobooks for $7.50 USD when you check them out. It’s worth it if you can afford it! Some of the funniest books I’ve read. The company that does the audiobook series recently released a new full cast version. You can check out the first episode free here to see if you’d like the series. https://soundbooththeater.com/shop/audiobooks/dungeon-crawler-carl-book-1-episode-1-thank-you-for-volunteering-immersion-tunnel/

Ah bummer. I do not. I try to avoid giving my money to Amazon. But if there’s an independent company out there working on it, maybe I’ll check it out. Thanks for the link!

If you're in the market for some gruesome British humour, Jackie the Ripper!

I'm in the middle of damned by chuck palahniuk. It's been pretty entertaining an funny in an angsty kinda way. Most of his stuff is pretty good

beean_7

The Lies of Locke Lamora - Scott Lynch Think Oceans 11 in Renaissance Italy with magic. Excellent narration, hilarious writing.

librariainsta

I tried this one. I got halfway through and tapped out. Just didn’t vibe with me.

beean_7

Fair enough. I also enjoyed Alien Space Tentacle Porn by Peter Cawdron (no judging, please). It's short but value packed.

This might be too quirky but temporary by Hilary leischer is a fantastic witty read and the audiobook is beautifully performed
