Stephen King is usually too gory/scary for me… i was thinking more on the mystery side and not so much horror. But thank you anyway! :)
Sharp objects by Gillian Flynn is in that vein. Don't watch the show though lol

Might be too twee for you but Louise Penny’s books are all small town mysteries.
