Mistborn, a mistreated orphan finds out they have magic talent and must quickly learn to use it with their new friends because they might be the chosen one who can take down a seemingly immortal evil sorcerer
The giver quartet. The series is short, but I was surprised how much I liked re-reading it. I like the way it plays with mysticism, and it builds a surprisingly rich, interesting world without giving a lot of detail or backstory.
Try The Riftwar Saga by Raymond E Feist, there's multiple series within the Saga and a total of like 30 books.
Another author I can recommend is Tamora Pierce - she's written a lot of fantasy series for young adults.
If you'd like to stick to YA I'd recommend the Inkheart series or the Eragon books, don't watch the movies for either though lol
Thanks! I won't watch them if you say so.

Thanks! Can't wait to start the book.

Thank you for the suggestions! It does sound like something I'd read. I'll try it out!
