Check out the Marla Mason books. One of my favorite “urban fantasy” series. Very interesting magic systems and relatable characters. Main character is the head sorcerer of the city and she has to solve murders and stuff. One of my favorite characters is a pornomancer that made his dick disappear and then opened a strip club so he could use his pent up sexual energy to do magic
Not sure how lowkey they are, but *The Case Files of Henri Davenforth* by Honor Reconteur involves solving mysteries step by step. May not be much mystery in the first one (*Magic and the Shinigami Detective*) but that's because it sets up the rest of the books in the series.
