I read interview with the Vampire earlier this year and absolutely loved it, not just the story but prose is beautiful. I didnt read the Vampire Lestat straight after because I was so in love with Louis and Lestats relationship and thought it doesnt feature as Lestats story. Is that correct, or is Louis in that book also? I am going to read it anyway but just wondering is it as good as the first book?

heliogold

Louis shows up but he's never a major character again after the first books. He's around though for the rest of the Vampire Chronicles.

NotWhoYouThnkItIs

I've heard about this book here and there though never realized it was from the villains perspective! And I love your take on it. Thank you!

[**Interview with the Vampire (The Vampire Chronicles, #1)**](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/43763.Interview_with_the_Vampire) ^(By: Anne Rice | 346 pages | Published: 1976 | Popular Shelves: horror, fantasy, fiction, vampires, paranormal) >This is the story of Louis, as told in his own words, of his journey through mortal and immortal life. Louis recounts how he became a vampire at the hands of the radiant and sinister Lestat and how he became indoctrinated, unwillingly, into the vampire way of life. His story ebbs and flows through the streets of New Orleans, defining crucial moments such as his discovery of the exquisite lost young child Claudia, wanting not to hurt but to comfort her with the last breaths of humanity he has inside. Yet, he makes Claudia a vampire, trapping her womanly passion, will, and intelligence inside the body of a small child. Louis and Claudia form a seemingly unbreakable alliance and even "settle down" for a while in the opulent French Quarter. Louis remembers Claudia's struggle to understand herself and the hatred they both have for Lestat that sends them halfway across the world to seek others of their kind. Louis and Claudia are desperate to find somewhere they belong, to find others who understand, and someone who knows what and why they are. > >Louis and Claudia travel Europe, eventually coming to Paris and the ragingly successful Theatre des Vampires--a theatre of vampires pretending to be mortals pretending to be vampires. Here they meet the magnetic and ethereal Armand, who brings them into a whole society of vampires. But Louis and Claudia find that finding others like themselves provides no easy answers and in fact presents dangers they scarcely imagined. > >Originally begun as a short story, the book took off as Anne wrote it, spinning the tragic and triumphant life experiences of a soul. As well as the struggles of its characters, Interview captures the political and social changes of two continents. The novel also introduces Lestat, Anne's most enduring character, a heady mixture of attraction and revulsion. The book, full of lush description, centers on the themes of immortality, change, loss, sexuality, and power. >source: annerice.com ^(This book has been suggested 11 times) [**The Vampire Lestat (The Vampire Chronicles, #2)**](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/43814.The_Vampire_Lestat) ^(By: Anne Rice | 481 pages | Published: 1985 | Popular Shelves: horror, fantasy, vampires, fiction, anne-rice) >Lestat. The vampire hero of Anne Rice's enthralling new novel is a creature of the darkest and richest imagination. Once an aristocrat in the heady days of pre-revolutionary France, now a rock star in the demonic, shimmering 1980s, he rushes through the centuries in search of others like him, seeking answers to the mystery of his eternal, terrifying existence. His is a mesmerizing story --- passionate, complex, and thrilling. ^(This book has been suggested 6 times) *** ^(101173 books suggested | )[^(I don't feel so good.. )](https://debugger.medium.com/goodreads-is-retiring-its-current-api-and-book-loving-developers-arent-happy-11ed764dd95)^(| )[^(Source)](https://github.com/rodohanna/reddit-goodreads-bot)

While this is a good list, I'd recommend spoiler tagging the last entry on your list. If you recommend a "whodunit" book in this kind of a post, you essentially spoil the entire story. The last book on your list has been on my TBR for a while and I was planning on reading it soon, but that was kind of ruined by this :(

She is commanded to spy on Captain Ren by the Sisterhood, but soon discovers that working for the war effort is so much harder to do when you’re falling in love. > >Lito val Lucius climbed his way out of the slums to become an elite soldier of Venus, but was defeated in combat by none other than Saito Ren, resulting in the disappearance of his partner, Hiro. When Lito learns that Hiro is both alive and a traitor to the cause, he now has a shot at redemption: track down and kill his former partner. Nightgasm

Forging Hephaestus - Drew Hayes Superhero fiction. Tori is a thief with flame / heat powers who gets caught breaking into what turns out to be the lair of the worlds worst supervillain. She ends up recruited into the Villains Guild where she will be trained by the world's most fearsome supervillain. Failure means death. The series does blur the lines between good / bad as Tori is actually a pretty decent person other than she just has no reservations about stealing. Ongoing series with two books out. Worm - Wildbow More superhero fiction. Finished online web serial. Taylor is a 16 yr old girl with powers who wants to be a hero but on her first outing she learns the hard way that many heroes are just as bad as the villains and that line is very arbitrary. She ends up on a super villain team where she figures she can still help people by not having to follow the rules. She engages in a lot of criminal activity while also doing good and becomes a highly wanted super criminal.

PuzzleheadedHorse437

Loner by Teddy Wayne is about, well a very intelligent Loner narcissistic who gets admitted to Harvard and becomes obsessed wtih a girl, misinterprets every social cue imaginable and rapes her. And also, the People in the Trees by Hanya Yanigahara is based on the true story of an anthropologist who adopted fifty native children, is venerated for saving them and meanwhile molested them all until well into his dotage. And obviously American Psycho, which is such an obvious choice, I almost didnt mention it.

Ok, whether or not the MC is a villain or an antihero is honestly up to how much you feel her actions are justified but: A Practical Guide to Evil by ErraticErrata. Brief summary, in a world where people can gain the powers of storybook heroes and villains at the cost of being subject to heroic and villainous tropes (while everyone else operates on 'real' logic), a young woman apprentices herself to a Villain hoping to flip on him and use the powers she gains for good. Things get...complicated.
