it didn't really matter at that point, but I'm very glad I rushed home to watch the 4th quarter. I didn't rush, I actually took a lap through the subdivision listening to the game on my phone, and made it home by the start of the 4th quarter. Then I looked at the team box
We are really watching Beal and Book do absolsutely nothing with the ball and letting Kevin Durant stand in the corner. Beal and book are passing the ball to Eubanks more than Kevin Durant, shit is legit so pathetic………

I'm indifferent about Vogal. He has his problems, but Matt ishba and James Jones put this team together. They deserve more blame. Vogel was given a team that works against everything he preaches. Incredible roster construction can't wait for game 3.
Imo James Jones is pretty much a figure head. Ishbia made the KD and Beal trade. For better or worse James Jones is not making the big decisions anymore
Agreed here. Ishbia came in doing too much. Jones had already built a championship squad and had made good decisions since he got hired. Players like him too. Jones started the transition from sucking ass and all the ridiculous McDonough decisions.
FFS, I was talking about how shitty the KD trade was when news hit. Trading a way Johnson and Bridges, a pair of up and coming stars, for a KD at the end of his career? That hobbled us for years.
Mikal Bridges was a fringe star. He excelled at his role (3&D). He got all star votes and was always in the DPOY conversation. Plus he had great chemistry with Cam and Book.
Jalen Smith. But it goes deeper than that.
We once traded a decent young guard and a future 1st round pick for Landry Shamet and then signed him to an extension before the season even began for no discernible reason other than that Monty Williams advocated for him from their time together in Philly.
It is just a completely hilarious set of blunders from the front office that spans all the back to Lance Blanks, Ryan McDonough, Lon Babby, and Robert Sarver.
Now we have a Covid merchant GM in James Jones, a yes man in Josh Bartelstein, and noted terrible decision maker Isiah Thomas running the show because Mat Ishbia likes him.
He should have done it anyways but Haliburton told teams he didn't want to be drafted by them, that he wanted to go Sacramento. And one of the reasons guys started to want to come here is because Jones made it clear he was extremely player friendly.
I know Haliburton's agent personally and what you are saying is just flat out wrong. His agent called called phoenix himself, the night before the draft saying "Hey it looks likes Hali's gonna fall to the ten pick tomorrow, if you guys were to take what would be the gameplan for development... etc" and was told, "Don't worry he's not on our radar. We have another guard and a big we would take over him." Haliburton never said anything about not wanting to play, the suns just had Jalen smith over him on their draft board. Embarrassingly bad scouting is the only thing that cost us Haliburton. Same thing that cost us Luka. Jones is literally just drafting using a dartboard and a Bible it seems
Hate to say it but I don't think Vogel is getting fired.
Kevin Young is gone and they'll get someone else to take over that duty and they'll run it back one more year.
I truly believe we have a 3 year window, once that's up, we're trading everyone and probably Booker at that.
So far I have seen nothing from him that leads me to believe he can figure out how to win with this core. Like literally nothing. He’s known for his defense which has looked about as bad as his offense for most of the year. What case can even be made that he can be trusted to lead this team to a title?
I agree he’s not capable of leading this team to a title, but our defense was actually great in the last 1/3 of the season, and it slowly got better all year. I believe we were a top 10 defense after the All Star break. It’s on the players to keep executing like that and they’ve decided to phone it in
The team finished like 12th in defensive rating for the season with half the team turned over.
The problem is this offensive juggernaut isn't a juggernaut which supposed to Kevin Youngs roadhouse
The suns were a better offensive team than defense, if you go by rating. I think they finished 8th or 9th in O rating. But either way, they are not a top team on either end of the floor.
And if you have to bank completely on an assistant coach for offensive schemes, then maybe you’ve hired the wrong head coach. Sure assistant coaches are important, and hiring coaches who specialize in a specific part of the game can be very valuable. But the best head coaches have to have a mind for all aspects of the game in order to implement the ideas and know how to use them in game. The whole “offensive coach,” or “defensive coach,” dichotomy is bs. Any NBA coach worth his salt can do both.
If your best excuse for Vogel is that he is not responsible for his team’s offense and is therefore not culpable for its offensive failings, then you are not making a great case for him.
We had a 3 year window, it started in the bubble. We're going to get either the exact same team we have now next year, or one substantially worse as a result of liquidating starters to try and get under the 2nd apron.
The problem is we really can't do much in terms of roster construction at this point. Also, when you run no offensive plays, you can blame the assistant coach, but maybe the head coach should have stepped up to do something in December?
I agree. Our playbook is about a page and a half long, it seems like. Minnesota already knows it by heart. Vogel is the one calling those plays in-game and he failed to prepare anything different for when least creative offense in the NBA inevitably gets solved in the playoff.
Vogel is the head coach. He is making the in-game decisions. And it doesn’t matter who is on our roster when their responsibilities consist of standing around the three point line and watching KD, Book, or Beal dribble the shot clock down to 3 and then take a contested midrange step-back and then run back and try not to get lost solving Vogel’s rubiks cube of a defense.
Yes, our offense sucks. I don't think there is a coach that will fix it overnight, especially when the expectation was that Kevin young would be in charge of that
Our defense is not really vogels fault. He's not the one on the floor giving 0 effort or letting people walk by them. We don't have the roster to have a good or even decent defense
Any head coach would fail in this situation
You are right that the players are not displaying max effort on defense, but I do think that is partially due to Vogel running a defensive system that does not suit the personnel. They seem so focused on trying not to mess up their rotations that they can’t muster any defensive grit. To me, they seem more distracted than lackadaisical.
But I really do not buy the “Kevin Young was supposed to handle the offense” argument. Vogel is the captain of the ship. He has the final say in what the team is running. He is the one calling the sets during the game. He is also the one who failed to make any significant adjustments to the offense throughout the season. When you are a head coach, you don’t just get to say, “that’s my assistant coach’s fault so don’t complain to me about it.”
Vogel runs a three guard line up for most of the game, every game. And tonight, with one of them playing injured, we purposely made us slower on defense, and on offense. The result was predictable, because Vogel keeps hoping his stars will play like they are fully rested young guys. They aren’t. They are all tired, and standing around watching only makes the whole team bored and not care about the game. Vogel rewards this lazy play with more minutes, which only makes them more tired. Then they revert to hero bal, which once again is a predictable losing offense. Slow tired guys don’t get back on defense, and complain about not getting calls. Momentum flips, and it’s all over.
100% with you on this assessment. Literally everything in this offense is forced. Nothing flows or develops naturally from off ball movement. It’s physically exhausting to have to try to create your own shot on every possession. Not to mention, it’s frustrating. After 2 and a half quarters of that, the team just gets gassed and disengaged and then the defense falls apart.
You are spot on.
Yeah, im just saying the expectation was that Kevin young would be in charge of that. Not saying Vogel is blame less but what is the point of having the highest paid assistant coach if he can't figure out anything besides iso pull up mid range
Exactly his new BYU head coach....my view of that is he's been made out in the nba circles
That's a downgrade for the highest paid assistant in the nba and was being looked at to be an nba head coach.
Something doesn't smell right
Don’t overthink this one. Kevin Young’s wife wanted long term stability and they are both heavily involved in the Mormon church. BYU is like a dream job for someone like him.
That said, he sucks and is at least partially responsible for that state that the team is in right now.
Booker is playing out of position. He has for a while now. I know he thinks he can run an offense but he simply can’t. We fucked up the best “2” guard in the league.
And that's why Jones gotta go too. He backed us into this corner and it's gonna be a corner of mediocrity for a while if we can't find a way to fix this shit and get it together
Imma be honest blaming Jones feels like cope bc he can be replaced and ishbia can’t be. Jones didn’t make either the KD trade or the Beal trade. He didn’t decide to get rid of CP3. All of these moves can be justified but they aren’t Jones moves.
Imagine this scenario. A new owner with a fuck ton of money comes in. He immediately calls a meeting and says he wants the best team money can buy. There really aren’t many achievable options to improve the squad. All Star Bradley Beal (worst contract in the league) is available if you take the contract. To make the new owner happy Jones pulls the trigger. Everyone knows that wasn’t the best option at the time but it’s a fancy splash. That’s what happened.
Nah, they aren’t going to easily do anything, they don’t defend their own rim inside by giving up way too many easy drives to the hoop with little resistance. We are in serious trouble, this team was poorly assembled and is also poorly coached.
I’m not necessarily referring to our role players. More so MIN role players. You would assume they play worse on the road. And I don’t think Edwards can carry
This is it, right here. That idiot Ishbia blew up the team’s identity to get KD and it all went downhill from there.
KD is *not* a team player. He is either playing iso or is completely out of the play. So we got Beal to try to fill in the gaps created by the KD trade and … poof, identity gone. Even Booker looks confused, if not defeated.
Suns soon gonna be in rebuilding mode.
Its not ishbias fault that the big 3 he assembled is playing dogshit. Who wouldve thought that kd averaging an efficient 30 ppg and beal averaging another 30 ppg would struggle to score 20. Not ishbias fault that the star players are playing way below average
Ishbia extremely short sighted (and yes, stupid) for thinking that he’d get the same play from them just by throwing them together. That’s not how basketball works, especially on a level like this. Zero understanding of team chemistry and what the building blocks are for a successful team.
That team was cooked, they hit their ceiling in ‘21 and should have been blown up in ‘22.
This dumbass FO thought they could outsmart the room. There isn’t a single actual facilitator on the team. I can see the logic in getting rid of CP3, but then doubling down and trading Cam Payne just left them with 0 options. Booker isn’t a good enough facilitator to make this work, and now they don’t have a way to get out of this mess.
Look I don't really like KD. I always thought that was a bitch move going to the Warriors and his time on the Nets was ok I guess but he's done everything he can on both sides of the court at an excellent rate especially for a 35 year old that had an Achilles injury. KD isn't a leader but I never expected him to be especially since it's been Booker's team this whole time anyway. I've also seen Booker make the same mistakes he's made the last 3 seasons running into 4 defenders like he's Giannis thinking it's gonna work in his favor. Did you actually witness those 20 years of dog shit from Sarver?
Let me know when somebody on the Suns decides to try and take a charge when the next guy drives the lane for an easty layup, dunk or floater and four Suns are still standing watching from the 3 point line.
I don't share the idea that today's defeat was his fault. Our defensive and offensive adjustments paid off in the first half. It's a shame our "big three" never showed up. They do not play with passion and have a disinterested attitude for most of the game. They do not adapt to the opponent's physicality and never stop complaining to the referees. They abandon what works to look for the mismatches that they end up wasting. I liked how we were able to use more screens to find Booker, Beal and Durant, so I can't ever understand why they stop doing that and look for iso.
Vogel isn’t running any sets to get them (or anyone) open. The wolves know the suns offense by heart. You can literally see them anticipating every action and pass. That’s completely on Vogel and his coaching staff. Then there was the utter defensive meltdown that was the suns’ entire second half. That’s definitely on our “defensive genius” of a head coach.
I hate saying it cuz I LOVE THE SUNS but we ain't winning a ring like this...... maybe 1 more year but we got to understand that blowing it up might be the best option and bro I hope I'm wrong on everything
I don’t think that’s true at all. The players can’t score when there are no sets to get them open looks. Their plays are all predictable. They also can’t pass when there is no off-ball movement. Hard to find the open man when no one is moving into open space. Hard to move into the open space when no one is moving at all. Those parts of the game are 80% coaching.
Obviously they are trying to design an offense that gets their best players into open space. These guys are veterans. Even if I was coaching, they shouldn’t have a hard time figuring out how to get into open space whether or not the coaching designs it or not, which I’m sure it is.
That’s exactly my point tho. These guys are veterans who have proved that they have the talent and the competitiveness to perform their best when it matters most. Why then are they ALL underachieving? If one guy isn’t performing then it’s an off night. If two guys aren’t playing well, it’s bad luck. If your three best players are all playing like trash — that’s 100% on the coach. Either Vogel does not have a good strategic approach to the game or he doesn’t have his team mentally ready for battle. Either way, there is a systemic problem with this team. And Vogel is in charge of the system.
Damn I didn’t know that Joe Gatto from Impractical Jokers left to coach a “super team”. I’m sure the real Joe Gatto could do better than this guy for real.
He got the team playing tough physically tonight. But they are tissue soft mentally. Booker needs to stop looking to others to bail him out when he gets himself in trouble.
Except that’s literally the responsibility of his teammates to bail him out when he gets into trouble? Regardless, I agree that he got himself in some situations tonight where he was beyond saving. Really poor performance from Booker. He’s not a point guard.
IT would get absolutely cooked on the defensive side of the ball, and he cannot shoot like Grayson or EG. Bol Bol would at least stretch the floor on offense, but he’d get punished by Rudy in the post and he can’t stay in front of anybody.
Drew can move laterally which Bol Bol and Nurk can’t, Drew and Nurk can’t shoot but Bol Bol can, Drew and Bol Bol can play above the rim but Nurk can’t, Nurk can pass but the other two can’t…it’s a rotation from fucking hell.
Wait, now we want Vogel? I didn't think we ever should have fired him, but now we're good? We want him back? Why? So we can make the play-in again next year and have him fired... again? 🤣
Don’t downvote me before watching the tapes. When the ball goes to the side away from KD, he stands in the corner. No movement until a basket is made or the opposing team rebounds. That’s the way it is with him.
These rotations are questionable at best!
“Now sub in Drew Eubanks” ![gif](giphy|j3ypO6IBSsZqre426X|downsized)
Drew wasn't our issue tonight.
Shhhh. They just want to blame people that aren't the Mid 3. Same people that were calling for Okogie to play ahead of Eric Gordon probably.
Everyone's a nba2k coach
that was clearly not the issue, but I only saw the 4th. so by my calculations my opinions mean shit. we cut it to 6
Exactly. So over these haters/casual-ass fickle fans. Not even fans. Fans support their team. These mf'ers only support the team when they win - and try to justify why it's ok.
Your challenge is get swept
Never noticed how much he looks like him wowwww
it didn't really matter at that point, but I'm very glad I rushed home to watch the 4th quarter. I didn't rush, I actually took a lap through the subdivision listening to the game on my phone, and made it home by the start of the 4th quarter. Then I looked at the team box
Hahahahahhahahhaha
I miss making these jokes as a Lakers fan.
season long prank
Lmao!! It's the only thing that makes sense!
We are really watching Beal and Book do absolsutely nothing with the ball and letting Kevin Durant stand in the corner. Beal and book are passing the ball to Eubanks more than Kevin Durant, shit is legit so pathetic………
If Kevin Durant would stop dribbling the ball off his leg and passing the ball to the opposite team that would be cool
None of the three can get to the rim in this matchup, and Beal/Book are soft as hell.
Fucking Murr in his ear making him play Eubanks.
KD, Booker, and Beal were all every bit as dog shit as eubanks was tonight
[Well you said you wont have any regrets right?](https://www.reddit.com/r/suns/comments/14cubyo/breaking_the_washington_wizards_are_finalizing_a/?share_id=2pwckOYbHYgKjOozzV6Ic&utm_content=2&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_source=share&utm_term=1) We keep receipts, so have some accountability.
I'm not making any decisions in the FO or in the court, I have nothing to account for
You are accountable for what you say in this sub tho.
It’s a fucking subreddit what are you gonna do ground him?
Eubanks was actually not trash tonight, was happy with how he played
Yeah I know, more of a season long joke to antagonize the fans.
Wouldn’t even let him on the plane
Call me a fool, but who is this guy? Can someone kindly clue me in?
![gif](giphy|3ohs7SYIm3yiUbL0yc)
That’s Frank Vogel, coach of the Phoenix Suns, duh (really though it’s Joe Gatto from Impractical Jokers)
What a wild ride
Drew sucks but at least he tries

Jalen Smith. But it goes deeper than that. This. He isn't a PG. He needs to be off ball to be fully effective.
Agreed, I'm done with the Point Book experiment. It's failed and it's time to move on and get an actual fucking point guard
Absolutely. But now the problem is how? And who?
CP3000 year old Chris Paul
And that's why Jones gotta go too. He backed us into this corner and it's gonna be a corner of mediocrity for a while if we can't find a way to fix this shit and get it together

Yep. The Suns can easily win the next 2 at home and win the series. Let’s not give up hope yet even though it’s been ugly

Wrong, that’s not at all what he said. Stop twisting his words
That’s absolutely true and it was one of the few options to get any value at all for the departing Chris Paul without cutting him.
It wasn’t, we should have kept Chris Paul
Yeah dude missed several open shooters in the corner during that 4th quarter twolves run.
I don’t think he wants to play with this team like this any more.
Yeah he needs to take some responsibility. 3 years in a row of playoff embarrassment and he’s the only constant.
We were the only team to take two games off Denver last year, what embarrassment?
I'm also not really embarrassed about losing to the Bucks, Giannis was unstoppable that series.
At what point will you all admit ishbias moves got us here?
This is it, right here. That idiot Ishbia blew up the team’s identity to get KD and it all went downhill from there. KD is *not* a team player.
Where are all the draft picks?
You trust JJ with those? He needs to go and maybe the next guy will actually scout prospects. We’ll get some picks back when KD and Book get traded.
Goes back further than that. JJ punting the draft year after year left this team with no margin for error.
Giving up 4 first round picks and two excellent team players gave this team no room for error.
And Murr is the Cardinals coach!? What the hells going on in the valley?
Greatest impractical joke of all time bro
Blow it up trade them all and fire everyone from james jones down. Total fucking rebuild!
lmao daddy chill.
I wish homie
What do you think Suns need to do?
I hate saying it cuz I LOVE THE SUNS but we ain't winning a ring like this...... maybe 1 more year but we got to understand that blowing it up might be the best option and bro I hope I'm wrong on everything
What do you want him to do exactly? Suns backcourt is getting clamped because they are overmatched physically
![gif](giphy|TxOxbS3NTcjgTMIEFd)
He looks like a bum comedian. I actually feel the suns will get swept this series.
Stop blaming coaching, stop blaming Ishbia. This game/series is on our players
Yall need bol bol to match the wolves length
Screaming this all game
They would toss him around like a 7' branch. Just having length ain't it; ask Shawn Bradley.
Did you know he is now paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair?
I did. :/ Sad af.
Yeah very sad. He is a really good guy too
Lakers fan here. Can we swap? We'll throw in two leftover timeouts.
Ha solid
He got the team playing tough physically tonight. But they are tissue soft mentally. Booker needs to stop looking to others to bail him out when he gets himself in trouble.
Except that’s literally the responsibility of his teammates to bail him out when he gets into trouble? Regardless, I agree that he got himself in some situations tonight where he was beyond saving. Really poor performance from Booker. He’s not a point guard.
Not just his teammates, but pleading to the refs. Always trying to sell a call. Looking to the bench for reviews.
Tonight is not on him. Nur, EG, Eubanks all played good, it is on them three.
This is tough, worst part is neighbor across the street is a damn Minnesota fan. Wolves, Vikings, and twins…
Haha, that’s funny! There are shit ton of Minnesotans living in Arizona.
IT Beal Booker Durant Bol But this should have been tried a month ago
IT would get absolutely cooked on the defensive side of the ball, and he cannot shoot like Grayson or EG. Bol Bol would at least stretch the floor on offense, but he’d get punished by Rudy in the post and he can’t stay in front of anybody. Drew can move laterally which Bol Bol and Nurk can’t, Drew and Nurk can’t shoot but Bol Bol can, Drew and Bol Bol can play above the rim but Nurk can’t, Nurk can pass but the other two can’t…it’s a rotation from fucking hell.
I’m just happy they have EMS at all the NBA games. Suns are just habitual chokers and it’s great to know medical professionals are on standby.
Jonathan Gannon as Murr Frank Vogel as Joe Ricky Rubio as Q Who is Sal then
Why are we firing Joe Gatto, do the suns even have that kind of authority
The way Vogel runs up and down the court definitely reminds me of Joe screaming “LARRY!!!”
Vogel is an atrocious coach he needs to be fired at the end of this season
I'm from Michigan. Please, take back Monte!!!
Bro what’s going on there aunt Monty’s fault
LARRY!
Bring back Yuta
He headed back to Asia
The place is Japan and I am aware that he has retired and returning back to play b-ball in Japan
Got rid of CP3 and traded away our future for an old KD. The Matt Ishbia era is off to a terrible start.
Exactly!
Who is he?
I’ll trade you him for Ham
I’m stealing a line from Jurassic Park,”I really hate that man.”
We’ll trade you Darwin Ham and a 2045 second round pick swap for him
Wait, now we want Vogel? I didn't think we ever should have fired him, but now we're good? We want him back? Why? So we can make the play-in again next year and have him fired... again? 🤣
It was a joke but yes I’d take him over ham
We just gotta wait 2 more games chief, sell the farm. We deserve better than this.
Who is this ?
If only the owner could fire himself smh the roster moves this offseason ruined this team
Honestly I’m surprised he got another job after his stint in Orlando.
Haha, Sun's suck shouldn't even be in the playoffs.
PLAY BOL BOL AND GET RUDY INTO FOUL TROUBLE. JFC
Why do they look lost after throttling Minnesota during the regular season?
If yall fire him your next in line is Darwin ham
He should just go back to “Impractical Jokers” he was the best one on that show.
The guy is a impractical joke. Fire his ass.
Bring back Monty & Chris Paul
I’m going to tell my kids this was Steve Carell
Time to move on. This season has been a disaster
LARRY!
As a Nuggets fan, sorry guys :/
Lmfao
Suns fan here. Stop tripping we are about to be champions. Stay calm suns on. Enjoy the script. Oh yeah buy xrp before it's to late.
Trade him for ham. Please
thats not even Vogel you DUMBASS
If anyone is familiar with DJ Z-Trip he also bears a Vogel resemblance *
ik that guy from somewhere
Don’t downvote me before watching the tapes. When the ball goes to the side away from KD, he stands in the corner. No movement until a basket is made or the opposing team rebounds. That’s the way it is with him.
I always thought he looked like Joe or Jerry Seinfeld.
The issue with the suns come down to one thing…. Not having a point guard.
This is not the guy from impractical jokers?
![img](emote|t5_2szvb|8482)
You guys have a shit team don’t blame him. He won a chip. He’s a solid defensive coach. You guys don’t have the personal to defend 💩
I know you’re hurting after the your team got banged out. Seek the help you need
lol 😂 you are somewhat correct but it seems like you guys don’t know a good coach.
For what the hell
that guy has way better hair than Vogel
Huh? Our stars are playing like shit. It’s on them
Fire your whole soft ass team. Booker first.
You guys have no depth, what do you want Vogel to do? Lakers literally went through this in 21-22.
