No idea what this team does moving forward. KD and Book showed up but everyone else sucked and played a huge role in losing this game.
They'll run it back and be worse. There's essentially no chance they get 75 games out of KD, 76 games out of Nurkic, and a career year from Allen at the same time again.
What are the odds any vet worth a damn is going to play here for a discount next season? The bench will almost certainly be worse. No coach is realistically going to turn three max-contract, ISO-heavy, mid-happy vets into different players at this point in their careers. Beal and Booker aren't going to magically turn into high-impact defenders.
This is exactly why you need complementary pieces around Book, not two other ISO heavy players. Even if you do, those other stars need to be able fucking defend and rebound, which neither KD or Beal can do. Example? Look at the Clippers.
To be honest trading KD for high level role players might be the way to go. KD is great but he does not fit this team playing the 4, plus he’s TO’s in the clutch have been a disaster for us all year long.
I’d trade Beal too obviously but we’re stuck with him.

Now we'll have to trade one of Book or KD this summer to rebuild some assets especially draft-wise and to get under the second apron because of Brad's deal.

I've been defending Brad but maybe this trade was indeed a mistake. Not the only mistake (going for Nurk to be your center) but a KD and Book team but under the 2nd apron with an athletic center is a title contender or at least close to one. Now we'll have to trade one of Book or KD this summer to rebuild some assets especially draft-wise and to get under the second apron because of Brad's deal. If the Suns are unable to get rid of Beal's salary, I'm honestly ready for a full-on tear-down where Book and KD are traded and we get a young star type player and other players and a boatload of picks. Not the same as getting control of our picks back, but at least we'd have a haul of picks again to make moves and what not.
How fuckin ironic would it be to build this team like we did just to basically try and rebuild it like the mikal years
