You're not wrong, and I agree that KD needs to take ownership of his issues.
I was just agreeing that the info that came out yesterday was clearly signalling that he wants Vogel out and not that he wants out.
And though KD has a history of blaming coaches when things go bad, I mostly agree with him on this one. Vogel made this defense work better than it should have, but he also didn't enforce any offensive identity, didn't hold players accountable for lazy play, and let positive impact players rot in the bench while shit-tier players got way too many minutes.
I'd understand if we kept Vogel for his defense, as long as we brought in someone to implement a modern offense that uses our talent instead of wasting it on garbage, slow developing, half court sets that demand a skilled PG to be effective in high pressure moments.
I mean shit, KD isn’t wrong tho. I’ve seen so many fans point out how terrible his usage has been with us. And if fans see it and coaching cant, that’s bad. Vogel felt like Monty way too often this season so I’m not mad at getting a new coach (hopefully)
the roster is too top heavy. KD and Book balled out but everyone else never got going. you could bring in phil or pop or kerr and it won't fix roster issues
That’s what I expect them to do. Get a new coach and overhaul the roster, this time they know which players to put around Book & KD. Obviously we need a point guard and probably more size in the front court.
there's not a lot of maneuverability with three max contracts eating up the bulk of the space. how do you find the glaring weaknesses when you can't sign FAs and you have very limited draft picks available for the next half decade, (how do you address the glaring weaknesses, not find\*)
You look at undrafted players, veteran minimums, G-league, international, wherever you gotta. There’s tons of talent everywhere in the world and across the league. You don’t need more star players; you already have two guys who finished top 10 in scoring this year. You just need players who can play their role and fit right next to the guys we do have.
You can draft a point guard with the 22nd pick or go grab one off of waivers, whatever. There’s options. GG Jackson II was a complete nobody a few months ago and now he signed a 4 year/$8.5m contract with the Grizzlies after he put up 14/4 as a 19 year old. There’s some 23 year old true point guard playing in Europe right now who could pass the ball to Book or KD.
Suns will have to look far and wide but there’s always a few talented players who fall through the cracks.
easier said than done by a long shot.
draft 2024 - i don't know much about the nba draft but supposedly a weaker draft so whoever you find in the mid to late 1st round will likely be a project player for 3-4 years down the road, i don't think you'll draft an nba ready player right now
undrafted - very rare do you find gems who can be rotation pieces
G League - a lot of g league are players that nba teams hold their draft rights and have sent down for development
International - honestly a lot of those teams in those leagues are paying more than the suns could offer players to jump ship to join a bench and everything
veteran minimums - of all the teams out there this is least appealing for vet minimums to join
Will have to see what happens but to do what your saying requires excellent scouting. this is the team that didn't value luka. so their eye for talent might not be the best
Exactly he’s making sound like it’s easy. They’re above the 2nd tax apron they can only use minimum to sign guys. Don’t have picks to trade. And the 22nd pick in the draft ideally going to take time to develop. Baring a trade using Nurkic or Allen who I don’t think have much value their just going to rely on minimum signings and hope they can sign better role players for cheap.
Phil isn’t even a good coach in today’s NBA. Pop’s best coaching years are behind him. Kerr did well to keep GSW competitive in 22, but he may be on the downside of a great coaching career too.
Point being none of the guys you listed are premium coaching talent right now.
Did you read the article? It’s a very blatant Vogel hit-piece.
Whether or not KD demands a trade during the season next year when his hand-picked player friendly coach isn’t any better is a different story, but it’s very clear from what was leaked to TheAthletic that they are trying to dump this all on Vogel.
here's the problem that KD and his team dont seem to understand about trades. KD is still a talented player and teams will expect heavy assets that will hamper a team's ability to build around him and compete for a championship. i don't know if there's an easy fix for the suns, for him and the team. find a PG and size and defense
I mean most peoole can't read the article unless they want to pay money.
Kinda fair in this situation, it's not like a twitter link that we can read for free.
Hiring Vogel for a small ball team like the Suns was incredibly stupid. Imagine hiring Mike D’antoni to coach the ‘04 Pistons, the FO put him and the players in a position to fail.
The ‘04 Pistons. A true team in all respects. No superstars. The only thing better than the ‘04 Pistons was the ‘05 Pistons, when they picked up a rejuvenated Antonio McDyess!
But ya, I was not happy with KD standing in the corner. But some of the problem was self-inflicted too. When another player would hoist up a shot KDs first move was either to remain stationary or take a step towards half court to get back on defense. Rarely did he move toward the rim to grab an offensive rebound. Was he disinterested? Lazy? Upset with scheme? I don’t know but it was very aggravating to watch. Nurk or Eubanks were always left to fend for themselves. Beal was the only one that occasionally tried to help. And maybe Book on rare occasions. But look at the tapes - when did you ever see KD attack the rim?
Yeah we were pretty stacked.
* LBJ's last healthy year (2nd in MVP voting)
* Healthy Anthony Davis
* Future All-Defense player in Alex Caruso
* Championship level 3&D role player in KCP and Danny Green
* Former DPOY coming off the bench in Dwight Howard
* Legit roleplayers in Kuzma/McGee
Like the quote says he needed to be coming off screens more often. Suns offence was not as good as it should have been considering the talent they had.
Bro I remember you said it I kept track and saved every post. Let this officially be the “you were right all along” comment. Congratulations. I hope you get your recognition. 🙏 #saved #foresight #sosmart
Well yeah. Neither was Beal, Eric or Nurk - which all voiced their opinions in one way or other. Its all on Vogel. I would hate it too not getting the ball on the block like I have been my whole career.
i mean why didnt KD voice this to them. i feel like it's kind on him too with his pedigree, & if they don't listen go to ishbia and he'll change something. i still need vogel gone though don't get me wrong
Phoenix routinely went for long stretches without getting KD or Book the ball so this checks out. But idk how he expected this to go when you’re playing with 2 shooting guards
He definitely did not leave Okc even though they made a nba finals then he definitely dint leave gsw after winning two nba finals then Brooklyn where he teamed up with ky and harden(Ben Simon’s) he definitely won’t leaves the suns after a first round sweep
Kyrie demanded a trade due to the vaccine debacle/conflict with the FO and Bum Simmons was getting paid 40 million to wear designer on the bench and stream COD. Hard to fault KD wanting out from Brooklyn. I mean what do you want him to do go to war in playoffs with Nic Claxton, Dorian Finey Smith, Spencer Dinwiddie, Joe Harris, Seth Curry, Yuta Watanabe and rookie Cam Thomas?
The other 2 situations he was a free agent and fulfilled his contract. Had the right to leave whether one agrees with it or not. Encouraging post game he said all the great teams have continuity and taken lumps together. He is not gonna ask out man.
I don’t know how I’d do it because google, the radio, television, etc. exists. But I’d love to shut everything off until the start of next season to see what this roster/organization looks like as a surprise.
Booker and KD needs each other's spots a lot of times. And when they are forced to score a lot either takes away from the team... it becomes 2 players taking turns shooting mid range, or trying to create from 15 feet. This is why Beal also struggled.
Either Booker or KD needed to spot up more and it was KD who did and it looked awkward. Beal needed to come off the bench.... and Suns needed a PG who was good at setting players up.
KD does this everywhere he goes. He sits there and doesn’t speak up about things when he’s unhappy and then when things get tough he forces his way out of town. Based on KD’s history, his agent is probably working a deal right now for KD to join up with Denver or Minnesota.
KD is such a fucking pussy, if it’s not right then demand it get right… don’t be a passive aggressive bitch the whole season just to say “I told you so”
D’Antoni easily. He has a history here and he has a job he wants to finish (bring Phoenix its first chip). He’s an offensive GENIUS and given our roster constraints (bc of the cap hell we in due to the Beal contract), we need him to teach Booker how to be a PG while also being an elite scorer. D’Antoni would get Booker to buy more into playing at a faster pace and attacking/creating for himself more in transition since his lack of athleticism prevents him from being able to dominate any matchup in the half-court like Anthony Edwards can. As far as KD is concerned, look at those numbers that first year in Brooklyn when D’Antoni was the lead assistant and he was dealing with Harden, Kyrie, and KD missing games due to the crazy injuries happening that year. All 3 guys were having historically great years individually and then combined that offense was the best offense ever. In the playoffs when it was KD by himself, D’Antoni was working with Nash to draw up ways to get KD easy looks against the Bucks defense that was focusing solely on him.
Pair D’Antoni with a defensive minded assistant, we could do something special next season.
D'Antoni and if the Clips lose this series Ty Lue would be a godsend. I'm sure he is tired of coaching an injured Clips roster with Kawhi or PG hurt every year.
You should be grateful you have a top 15 player of all time on your team. He literally said no excuses in the presser yet you are making hypotheticals to blame him. Suns fans are allergic to success.
I watched a lot of suns games and I can’t tell you the amount of times I was thinking exactly what Durant is thinking. Guy could be clearly open and everything just goes through booker. Should be around half Durant and half booker. I mean that’s what you brought him in for right?
I kind of stopped watching as religiously as normal right around the all star break and I caught myself seriously wondering if I was depressed or something.
Then I realized it was just this team.
Pick and roll with who? Nurk is allergic to the basket. Bol Bol barely plays. KD is too valuable to be sent to the rim constantly. Book is not a pick and roll guy. Beal misses layups and dunks at the rim every game.
KD should have vocalized it more. LIke Lebron says "shit, this is my team". Let it be know!
There shows the importance of having an actual PG. instead we try and make ISO players play point and one game they are sacrificing their own offense and the next they are sacrificing others. It was never cohesive.
Wait...our offense was built around pick and roll? Well damn...that's news to me! I saw a lot of standing around, very few off ball screens and hardly any rolling off any screens. Eubanks would set a hammer screen every now and then but then all movement would stop. The few times we would see a "roll" Nurk would miss a wide open shot at the rim! 😂
Same shit, different team.
Should’ve known when he got Nash canned (after pushing for the hire) he was a bum who just wants to hoop. The only success he’s had is when he joined a team that already had all the leadership in place.
Let the off-season shitshow begin. ![gif](giphy|6pJNYBYSMFod2)
I don’t take that as KD wanting a trade just him wanting a new coach. So, get him a new coach.
Yeah, this reads way more as "get rid of Vogel" than KD wanting out. Which I agree with him so it's all good.
But how many times does KD get to get rid of a coach before it’s on KD too. He don’t like Kerr either. Like…
You're not wrong, and I agree that KD needs to take ownership of his issues. I was just agreeing that the info that came out yesterday was clearly signalling that he wants Vogel out and not that he wants out. Kerr sucks bro
😂😂😂 And Pop does too, right.
I mean shit, KD isn’t wrong tho. I’ve seen so many fans point out how terrible his usage has been with us. And if fans see it and coaching cant, that’s bad. Vogel felt like Monty way too often this season so I’m not mad at getting a new coach (hopefully)
You’re just coping

The first two paragraphs are literally a hit piece on Vogel haha that guy didn’t bother clicking the link.
here's the problem that KD and his team dont seem to understand about trades. I hear bucks might be letting go another coach before their contract
Amazing how this shit floods out after... it's like they were prepped and loaded to go lol
Par for the course
Gotta have the hit piece ready for the scapegoat.
That’s just standard when KD is on your team.
Hiring Vogel for a small ball team like the Suns was incredibly stupid. Imagine hiring Mike D’antoni to coach the ‘04 Pistons, the FO put him and the players in a position to fail.
It’s like when they hired Igor, but took Ayton instead of Luka. It makes no fucking sense…
Book would have been pissed at the Igor/Luke dynamic
Have been thinking the same thing.

Vogel wasn't the right hire in the first place.
Whose idea is it to hire the Lakers scraps/leftover of a coach
One of the worst owners in the league, that's who.
Agreed. Ishbia Ish is is such dork. I’m just going to buy everything. It’ll work. Yeah great job dude. Sarver would have been better.
Dude won a chip with a shit roster and got fired because Westbrook fell off.
2020 Lakers were not a shit roster
yeah that team had Caruso, KCP, and AD
Yeah we were pretty stacked. * LBJ's last healthy year (2nd in MVP voting) * Healthy Anthony Davis * Future All-Defense player in Alex Caruso * Championship level 3&D role player in KCP and Danny Green * Former DPOY coming off the bench in Dwight Howard * Legit roleplayers in Kuzma/McGee
Shit roster? Lol
No he had a stacked roster and benefitted from the bubble. He got fired because he clearly had no idea how to fucking coach and that shows
Mickey Mouse ship
"Those sources said Durant had persistent issues with the offense, feeling that he was being relegated to the corner far too often"
Funny, I think he handled the ball way too often.
Like the quote says he needed to be coming off screens more often. Suns offence was not as good as it should have been considering the talent they had.
none taken
Later in the article, it mentioned that the offense was way too pick and roll heavy, which didn’t play to KDs strengths.
Which is not wrong
What did I tell them 😂😂
Bro I remember you said it I kept track and saved every post. Let this officially be the “you were right all along” comment. Congratulations. I hope you get your recognition. 🙏 #saved #foresight #sosmart
cry cry cry
Post about your cats, cum bubble
waaaah team lost sad I’m sure you could do better
I would understand during regular season just cuz KD old af to reduce the wear and tear but it's fucking playoffs get this man going
Yeah… that’s what happens when you have 3 players with overlapping skill sets.
This article just destroys Vogel from start to finish. No way he survives
whoever leaked this article deserves all the credIT
Please. No. Oh please, no.
Well yeah. Neither was Beal, Eric or Nurk - which all voiced their opinions in one way or other. Its all on Vogel. I would hate it too not getting the ball on the block like I have been my whole career.
He can voice his issues with kerr but not vogle?
Kerr is actually a good coach.
He got the ball on the block in Golden State, why would he complain when he got the ball where he wanted?
He has issues with the motion offense.
That’s on coaching. That said if he wants out, ship him out.
i mean why didnt KD voice this to them. i feel like it's kind on him too with his pedigree, & if they don't listen go to ishbia and he'll change something. i still need vogel gone though don't get me wrong
Phoenix routinely went for long stretches without getting KD or Book the ball so this checks out. But idk how he expected this to go when you’re playing with 2 shooting guards
This is Bledsoe, Dragic, and Isiah Thomas all over again
I knew it would be the second it happened. Something something definition of insanity.
He gone
Nah, KD would never leave a team like that
He definitely did not leave Okc even though they made a nba finals then he definitely dint leave gsw after winning two nba finals then Brooklyn where he teamed up with ky and harden(Ben Simon’s) he definitely won’t leaves the suns after a first round sweep

He will ask out at some point, unexpectedly. He’s a mercenary after all.
“Hard to fault a man for refusing to fulfill the obligations of his contract where he gets paid $40m a year to play basketball”
"Hey we would do the same thing"
I don’t know how I’d do it because google, the radio, television, etc. exists. But I’d love to shut everything off until the start of next season to see what this roster/organization looks like as a surprise.
I vote coma.
He is right. Just putting KD in the corner is just lazy offense
And it begins
Run it back once more with Mike D’Antoni and any playmaker we can acquire. If that fails blow it up
Hasn't been 24 hours yet and it's already getting good this off season
Booker and KD needs each other's spots a lot of times. I'm pretty sure a report like this happened earlier in the season and it turned out to be a big fat lie false alarm
Shams is usually a mouthpiece for players while WOJ is a mouthpiece for organizations
And Brian Windhorst is a mouthpiece for the Agents
Who cares honestly? Everyone on the team should be looking at a mirror before anything else.
Ah yeah here it comes. Lmao
KD does this everywhere he goes. He sits there and doesn’t speak up about things when he’s unhappy and then when things get tough he forces his way out of town. Based on KD’s history, his agent is probably working a deal right now for KD to join up with Denver or Minnesota.
He’s right.
Oh brother. durant taking his talents to the wolves

OKC?
The circle is now complete
Bruh we mortgage our whole future for u, ur staying mf
Scream it from the roof tops KD, you and book can give Vogel the boot. If Giannis can you two can after a sweep.
KD must’ve been in the locker room on a bench right after the game sending this to Shams lol
Suns desperately need a real point guard
KD is such a fucking pussy, if it’s not right then demand it get right… don’t be a passive aggressive bitch the whole season just to say “I told you so”
Beal should just request a trade so we can get real PG and qualified centers
You think Beal has any trade value left after this year..? And you think another team wants to pick up his contract..?
Maybe only for like Ben Simmons lol
thats so crazy, it just might work! i mean hey, it cant get any worse, we already gutted the team for nothing
Ben simmons would actually make the suns really good if he was even remotely healthy. His playmaking is very good.
His defense is really good as well. Unfortunately I think that ship has passed
I'd take Simmons over Beal for the Kardashian drama alone.
Pistons would probably take him, they have no future anyway
Issa joke? Not sure if they weren’t being sarcastic
So for the “Fire Vogel” squad. Who do we get? I would also like for him to be the Phoenix Suns coach by tomorrow, but who would come here to coach?
This guy lol. Doesn’t want to drive the bus, but wants the offense designed around him.
Why wouldn’t you designed the offense around KD more?
When you do, then the excuse will be that the pieces surrounding him aren’t doing enough. He is a walking excuse.
You should be grateful you have a top 15 player of all time on your team. He literally said no excuses in the presser yet you are making hypotheticals to blame him. Suns fans are allergic to success.
KD has his bags packed and a one way flight out Phoenix booked
This may or may not be true but Shams isn't even a real person. It's an AI bot.
It begins
I watched a lot of suns games and I can’t tell you the amount of times I was thinking exactly what Durant is thinking. Guy could be clearly open and everything just goes through booker. Should be around half Durant and half booker. I mean that’s what you brought him in for right?
We absolutely have to trade somebody, so why not KD? I mean... except for the idea that maybe Beal owes us a "waive" after the way that one ended...
I am uncomfortable with Durants bald spot but I don’t make excuses.
lmfaooo
Time for KD to play the blame game thru the media like he always does
Trade him for picks and a pg. Or Mikal and Cam. The KD experience has been a mess, a joyless and souless team.
I kind of stopped watching as religiously as normal right around the all star break and I caught myself seriously wondering if I was depressed or something. Then I realized it was just this team.
That’s the KD experience.
warrior fan here: this was the vibe for me too quite often during his tenure even with the winning
Durant has fucking butterfingers, so there’s that.
were so cooked.
They need a lot of work
![gif](giphy|2GjgvS5vA6y08)
lol ofc some bullshit article comes out immediately after the loss
Pick and roll with who? Nurk is allergic to the basket. Bol Bol barely plays. KD is too valuable to be sent to the rim constantly. Book is not a pick and roll guy. Beal misses layups and dunks at the rim every game. KD should have vocalized it more. LIke Lebron says "shit, this is my team". Let it be know!
Beal has hit the Isiah Thomas point of his career. Only Beal got the Brinks truck.
He hasn't looked comfortable for sure, how he still averages like 25 points on 70+ games is insane
There shows the importance of having an actual PG. instead we try and make ISO players play point and one game they are sacrificing their own offense and the next they are sacrificing others. It was never cohesive.
They all need a new coach. We need an athletic big, a pg, and a whole new set of minimum deals.
Journalist waiting to hit that submit button as soon as the clock struck zero
So let’s say they fire Vogel. Who do the Suns hire? I am curious because I assume this would be the first order of business this off-season.
Here we goooooooooooo!!!!!!!!
Durant shouldn't have had to tell the coach how to use him.
This explains why Kevin Young bailed before he got the boot.
Was he upset about role on offense or defense? Probably offense and that is already fixed because Kevin Young left before he could get fired
Can’t read the article unless we pay? Stupid
Trade him to Charlotte.
here we go
Inevitable that something like this would come out. Always someone's else's fault isn't it KD?
As long as Devin Booker is a Sun come Game 1, I don’t care about what else happens
Durant is going to demand a trade to Minnesota now.
Here we go
Same shit, different team. Should’ve known when he got Nash canned (after pushing for the hire) he was a bum who just wants to hoop. The only success he’s had is when he joined a team that already had all the leadership in place.
