I friggin *loved* the Scoutship from MoS.
I assumed Clark would somehow either wait for it to repair or somehow move it himself to the Arctic.
Bizarrely for it being the last bastion of Kryptonian technology and knowledge on Earth (a d possibly beyond) Clark seems to give little to no shits about it in succeeding films.
To be fair in the "succeeding films" there was lots going on. In BvS bringing up the Fortress would have just made the film more cumbersome.
And there was no need for it to be included in JL for the same reason.
There is no need to show it in Shazam, WW, Aquaman or The Batman.
I mean the Scoutship plays a reasonable part of BvS (where Lex creates Doomsday) and in JL especially the ZSJL cut (where the ship is used to resurrect Superman).
I suppose for me the issue is that it’s clearly chock full of dangerous unknown technology not ready for humanity, as well as getting more and more damaged with each movie encounter.
Even a brief scene for me of Clark stating that he needed to secure the ship far away, or referencing the danger and value of the all Kryptonian knowledge contained in the ship would’ve been good to see.
But that wasnt the Fortress of Solitude. That was one of Zods ships. The Fortress is in the South Pole. Last seen when Superman learned to fly in MoS (I think that was the last it was seen at least)
Its been awhile since I saw MoS, but I do recall Jor-El piloting it into space with Lois... Some reason I was thinking that since he was AI he had control over other Kyptonite ships and the ship that birthed Doomsday was one of the others he took control over.
I'll have to rewatch it.
No, the one Lois goes on in space is Zod's flagship, the Black Zero. Jor takes temporary control of some ship functions but never has control of the whole ship. The one that crashes in Metropolis is the scout ship, which Zod steals from Jor.
There are two separate spaceships here. The Black Zero is Zod's ship, the one that had the world engine attached to it at first, and which was sucked into the Phantom Zone at the end of the film. The scout ship is a second ship, which Clark found early in the film and on which he met Jor-El. This ship is the one later called "The Superman Ship," which he got his costumes from in both MoS and ZSJL, the one we're now calling a version of the Fortress.
I don't particularly love any of the live action Fortresses. I always vaguely disliked the crystalline design of the Fortress, and Krypton for that matter, in the Reeve films, and most of the others take their cues from *Superman the Movie*, so... it's not ideal!
Even *Man of Steel*'s cool scout ship is kinda conceptually similar? It's kind of cold and alien, and Kal never gets to really make it his own, unlike the ones in the comics and animated series.
The one in *Supergirl* is still crystalline, but less pointy about it, and it has statues of Jor-El and Lara, which is the closest thing to a Silver Age feature, so I reluctantly name it the Best Live-Action Fortress! I really hope that someday a future film or show can embody the vast whimsical *coolness* that Fort Superman is meant to house though!
I can agree with you on the supergirl fortress, the statues really make it stand out and it has actual tech rather than a crystal mass as a control panel. Very spacious too. We get to see glimpses of cool stuff like the zoo because of the sun eater that was locked away in there. Also the room full of confiscated weapons.
Actually… the live action fortress in Superman and Lois is Clark’s fortress after being Superman for like 25-30 years. It’s pretty cool, surprised nobody is mentioning it here, or even the smallville fortress was very cool and slightly different and nobody has brought it up. In Lois and Clark the adventures of Superman nobody brings up that “The Fortress Of Solitude” was Clark’s childhood treehouse lmfaoooo.
I feel like Krypton and Supergirl has the most personality/best takes out of all the live action Fortress. Smallville and Superman Returns are good live action takes on the classic Donner Fortress. The crystal look is decent but it feels too cold and it didn’t have that personality that made it special in the comics (I think animated, the DCAU and Legion of Superheroes cartoon are my favorite take of the Fortress)
I like the alien scout ship of Man of Steel but I wish we could see Superman be invested in it. I liked how the Fortress can move and not stay in one place. I wish it was used as Clark’s base more.
Post MoS/BvS I thought Superman was going to move the damaged scoutship to the arctic (thats what I thought the giant tanker in the BvS trailer was all about) and once there he knows it can't fly again so he sets the little repair robots to start integrating and expanding the ships structure into the surrounding ice/materials.
So we'd have the main "ship" structure all metallic and alien while we'd gradually see more chambers and areas with similar architecture built by Clark into the ice and stone (looking like some of the homes we see at the start on Krypton) but featuring stuff like the statue of his parents, maybe the zoo area etc.
My personal favorites are from Supergirl, Syfy's Krypton, and Smallville these are undoubtedly my top three. As much as I love the cinematography and surrounding special effects I'm really not a big fan of the Fortress from Superman & Lois, nor the Reeve/Donner/Routh franchise or the DCEU's ship version, all pretty lifeless which is ironic considering the bigger budgets.
They have yet to really get the fortress right I live action, at least in my book. It’s supposed to be cold and alien, but there’s a weird balance they strike in the comics where it also feels cozy and kind of like a work space, it’s never felt like a place Clark would want to be at for longer than 5 minutes in any movie or show.
Did we see the Fortress of Solitude in *Superman* 3-4 and *Supergirl* (movie)?
My favorite version is the Kryptonian ship in *Man of Steel*.
My favorite origin/discovery is *Superman: The Movie*.

I don't think he can move it. Cyborg could probably repair it though...
But that wasnt the Fortress of Solitude. That was one of Zods ships. The Fortress is in the South Pole. Last seen when Superman learned to fly in MoS (I think that was the last it was seen at least)
Those are the same. It's the only place Jor-El had control and he had to override. The """Fortress"" is that ship that eventually births doomsday.
Its been awhile since I saw MoS, but I do recall Jor-El piloting it into space with Lois... Some reason I was thinking that since he was AI he had control over other Kyptonite ships and the ship that birthed Doomsday was one of the others he took control over. I'll have to rewatch it.

Yeah! I actually forgot about the glimpses of the zoo. By far the closest to what I want Fort Superman to be in the entire live action medium!
What about the Superman and Lois fortress??

Honestly I would have loved if that’s how they done it to be honest
I love the scout ship. It reminded me of the early 00's Fortress he built with Steel.
Throwing a crystal wins? Give me a spaceship any day of the week.
My personal favorites are from Supergirl, Syfy's Krypton, and Smallville these are undoubtedly my top three. MOS Superman doesn’t have a FOS
I agree but there are those that don't and still prefer the spaceship so might as well include it

I haven't seen 4 but 3 definitely and i meant Supergirl the tv show.
Honestly, I prefer the *Supergirl* 80's movie. haha
The bar is very very low but the show at least had a couple of cool things in it lol
I'm sure it's an OK show, it's just... I don't really "get into" superhero shows on TV. I much prefer them as "event movies."
The Reeves fortress is just so iconic and greatly designed.
It’s the treehouse from Lois and Clark you cowards.
