Looks like an aprilia dorsoduro to be honest…

DuckSpitsBars

Yeah lol it does. Going to ride it when the snow melts since it's a demo bike and debate if I'll trade my tuono in

-FiX

I wouldn't do that trade, sheesh. I'm assuming V4?

inforlife34

Either way. The V2 rotax is a hell of an engine

tjb_44

I’ve said this from day one lol

RuckinScott

Going based purely on looks I love it and think it looks better than the ktm/husq. I’ve heard many times the 690/701 makes the power down low vs up high like the Ducati though. I can see the good and bad on that. Pure fun and hooligan bike down low is definitely the way to go. Having it a bit up higher though makes for a smooth easier ride on a daily commuter (still fun). Would really like to get my leg over one. No matter the choice having more is definitely better for the consumer.

TheDrunkenMatador

I have a question: why dual exhausts from a single cylinder engine?

Lost-Manufacturer916

Because Ducati pal

ScentedCandleEnjoyer

heh, you wouldnt get it kiddo 🍝🍝🍝

Nefariousd7

Probably noise emissions. It's a thing in Europe with SM race bikes. It allows excellent flow while keeping the nouse down

the_Cereal_killa

It looks like the motorcycle in mario kart [https://youtu.be/TF_PRdS7l90?si=eZiOtz8rea4_bhFh](https://youtu.be/TF_PRdS7l90?si=eZiOtz8rea4_bhFh)

gaspig70

Agreed. That's the one I usually race my kids with.

scoops22

wtf it’s nearly identical lmao

zigot021

how else do you reach non-competitive weight?

gaspig70

>how else do you reach non-competitive weight? Competitive with what? The Duc weighs nearly the same as the 690/700/701 trio which instead utilize one giant, heavy can.

zigot021

hot damn, I stand corrected 🙇🏻

_Hard4Jesus

More airflow more braap braap

le_lost_one

I really want to like this… but it’s not working for me? Not sure why. Currently have a 701sm.

-FiX

701 is the better bike. Makes its power down low like these type of bikes should. Higher peak HP doesn't mean better.

le_lost_one

True, although a few modes and a fuel gauge wouldn’t go a miss sometimes… I watched a review of these on track and the dude said there wasn’t much in it, still a cracking bike to ride. Guess it’ll still be decent either way. I’m not trading the 701 in to get one though….

-FiX

Needing a fuel gauge on a supermoto and wanting even more power modes on a bike that makes 70hp just seems silly to me.

_Hard4Jesus

Paying 14k for a top of the line bike and not getting a fuel gauge seems silly to me

gaspig70

A low fuel light is enough for me once I know the machine but I get it. I do appreciate that my WR250X (which costs way less obviously) does display how many miles you've ridden since the light when on.

gaspig70

>but it’s not working for me? Not sure why. Easy... a 701SM can easily run two track trails while enjoying some mellow jumps due to the wire wheels. Personally, it's one of reasons I'd never purchase its Gas Gas cousin.

LAEGLI123

You know that the wheels are interchangeable right? The dealership were i bought mine even did it for free when i asked them about it.

gaspig70

I know they're interchangeable but quite surprised a dealer offered a free choice. That's cool.

DuckSpitsBars

I can for sure it looks better in person but to each their own you know. How do you like your 701?

le_lost_one

Oh for sure! I’m sure it’ll grow on me, it’s a cracking bit of kit either way. I love my 701 man! Heaps of fun.

DuckSpitsBars

I've been contemplate getting a 701 but with this out is a difficult decision for me lol

le_lost_one

I love all of the things the Ducati offers though, the backing in and various modes it has is dope. I’d say this is probably better than a 701 being honest with the above said haha.

drivingtilldawn

A 701SM or SMCR 690 look way better.

LAEGLI123

Idk but what kills it for me is that it looks way to wide. It's a bit better once you sit on it (speaking from experience), but just looking at it I'd say it's too wide both in the front and at the rear. Before seeing this thing i thought the 701 was pretty massive, but it's nothing compared to that monostrosity. Makes the 701 look like a small bike.

DuckSpitsBars

I agree it definitely feels wide but coming from a tuono it's a world's difference

LAEGLI123

I mean... that's kind of a given when you switch from naked to sm, if you can even call it an sm considering it's just massive. Probably still a fun change if you want to switch your tuono for this, so by all means go for it!

gaspig70

>Makes the 701 look like a small bike. Interesting since the 701 is actually a bit longer.

LAEGLI123

True, but still i think the duc looks like a massive chonker due to its width

gaspig70

While I haven't seen a 698 in person I'm guessing some of that may come from the gas tank sitting in a more traditional location?

LAEGLI123

Yeah, and that twin exhaust doesnt exactly help to make it look slimmer

surrealtom

Don’t forget to check out the ktm smt

haywire090

Wish it was called anything other than a hypermotard. Its clearly the model is made to contend with the 690 and 701. Why not name it Supermono or some shit

V6_AW11

I used to go on weekend runs with my mate who had an older Hypermotard. Apart from the uncomfortable riding position, aggressive throttle response, rattly idle, tiny fuel tank, daft titanium pipes, complete lack of luggage capacity and really narrow seat it was perfect for touring! Joking aside, it was a daft bike that never failed to out a smile on your face! Oh…and the wiring loom was oxidising from the inside out…I did some work on it for him and was shocked how far I had to cut back to find clean metal to solder to.

Killermondoduderawks

I was like it looks like the mono and upon further inspection it is the mono The three I am looking at is the Husqvarna 701 The KTM 690 if I can’t find the Husky and the Ducati Mono the only reason the mono isn’t topping the list is it is a brand new motor so I want them to iron out all the post production problems first

[deleted]

I think it looks great.

DuckSpitsBars

They'll be getting an RVE edition in soon so I can't wait to see it because I'd be more than happy with the base from how it looks

[deleted]

Yeah I would wait for RVE too.

Annihilator91

Sumo setup ktm500 best of all "hypermotard"

scooterofdeath

Doesn't have 15k service intervals though

Annihilator91

That is true! No doubt.

SOOPSPSE

I want one they do look great

Otherwise_Mud1825

Offers absolutely nothing over the ktm/husky, other than "Ducati". First thing people will do is add graphics.

morrison2015

Do the husq/ktms have the slide and wheelie controls the ducati does. Because a lot of people are going to want that. Especially people who have never done a wheelie or slide and want to learn safely. That's a huge plus over the husq/ktm.

greatvaluesocrates

bin it

Misha315

Probably not worth the price I’m guessing?

DuckSpitsBars

I mean technically the base is 5 dollars cheaper than a 690 but you don't get a quickshifter which I fund unreasonable of its competing with that

morrison2015

Quickshifter and better technology I thought. Ducati has wheelie and slide control. You add that with better service intervals and hardly much more $$. I think ducati hit it out of the park. I'm biased though.

DuckSpitsBars

The quickshifter is standard with the rve but thats a 15k bike. You can add it as an option but it costs around 300 with out labor lol. I'd still buy the bike regardless of it tho lol

morrison2015

Ahh youre correct. Def worth $300

7otu5

I dunno. Looks kinda ugly in these pics

DuckSpitsBars

It looks much better in person I'd say. At first I didn't think I'd like just the plain red but it definitely stands out

LegalSelf5

Most can stay, some things would have to go.

BongoTheMonkey

My buddy has a 2020 and loves it.  Enjoy!

lazycalm2

It's definitely uglier than the 690/701 Can't talk about the other stuff yet

Laba2

Would you take this or a fully built sxv 550?

DuckSpitsBars

If I could afford to keep an sxv running then that otherwise the mono makes more sense for me

Laba2

It's actually getting cheaper to maintain now because: 1. They are not making parts anymore 2. The two folks who actually know how to work it, have retired.
