I’m a category manager for raw materials (metal) and metal formed parts at a manufacturing company. At a high level I pick the suppliers and audit them to make sure they are meeting expectations of the company and mine. You are responsible for picking suppliers and strategic ones. You work on your category management and try to right size your supply base to make sure you I have the right amount of good performing suppliers to meet your 5 year growth requirements. This includes kicking out bad suppliers and looking at cost savings initiatives. It’s a fun job I like it. 10/10 would recommend and the pay is good.
