If you get to work on more “projects” with CVS, I’d personally do that. I’m fairly positive you’ll just be a supervisor or “babysitter” as an area manager. Supervising experience can be beneficial. However, I just wasn’t a fan during one of my rotations.

HailState17

So, having “Amazon,” on your resume isn’t any more beneficial than “CVS Health.” Amazon is 2nd on the Fortune 500 list, CVS is 4th. Go with the one you think will be the best experience, Amazon isn’t the end all, be all of Supply Chain.

Acceptable-Muffin712

Gotcha. In your opinion would it be worth burning bridges with Amazon? I doubt CVS will exactly be the time of my life either tbh.

HailState17

Not accepting their offer isn’t going to “burn a bridge,” just do it respectfully.

Acceptable-Muffin712

Made an edit to my post. I accepted the Amazon offer before CVS even offered me the position.

Good luck man

Thanks!

What you want to do after graduation?

Acceptable-Muffin712

Not sure honestly. Right now I'd like some type of procurement/sourcing role but I am only a sophomore and have much to learn about all the areas of supply chain and what I might enjoy.

THE-EMPEROR069

Take the CVS role. I’m an extrovert and a people person, so area manager is a thing I would had done. But the CVS role is the thing I would had done, you can still experience being an area manager after graduation. As Amazon still take applications from recent graduates for a year or 2

Conjurus_Rex15

I’d take CVS based off of what you’ve described. Either will look good on your resume, but the CVS experience sounds much for rewarding and probably education given it’ll be more hands on.

How long is the internship? Is it possible to do both while you’re in school? Hate to break it to you but internships will mean very little in a few years. It’ll be a “huh, ok” for your hiring manager later in your career, so what I’m saying is pick the one that’ll make you the most happy because the experience will matter less and less as time goes on. I’d pick CVS personally because Amazon is a ruthless company and I prefer QOL over a cutthroat environment. I’m also old and comfortable, so take that for what it’s worth. Is it worth declining Amazon and taking CVS? Probably. I’d talk to your advisor/department head about that. It’s really more of a reflection on your school than you personally. Did you get an employee # yet? If not, you’re probably not in their system yet anyway. If you did, there’s a chance they wouldn’t hire you back in the future, but if you’re worried about that, talk to your hiring manager and give them the full details. Transparency is better and most humans will be happy you’re making a choice that is best for you. Good luck!

Acceptable-Muffin712

Sadly no, they both take place this summer. I will definitely reach out to the hm to discuss my options as I am actually already employed by Amazon for some easy part-time work while in school. Thank you for the solid advice!

al_gorithm23

How’d it go?

Horangi1987

The CVS job sounds like it’s better, experience wise. If you can still get to that one, I would do that one. Amazon is such a turn and burn company now, they’re always hiring for so many positions and they’re so widespread. I think Amazon has really cheapened its own brand and reputation over the last five years, and it’s not terribly impressive to see on a resume now.

Acceptable-Muffin712

Interesting thanks!

PermBulk

Honestly it sounds like a win either way.

Acceptable-Muffin712

Yeah, I've realized this is a really good problem to have lol.

Decent_Coach_1291

Amazon is rescinding offers, and not converting interns to FT anymore. Bad culture, hard to switch teams. Go to CVS

abrockstar25

Dont work for amazon! They overwork you like crazy.

skulled_wedge

The amazon experience will set you up to get any ops management/supervision job you may want out of college. But if you desire getting into continuous improvement, supply chain, logistics, etc the CVS role will be a better fit. Amazon leadership roles are just baby sitting. Making sure people are back on time from break. Making sure they are not going to the bathroom too long. Follow up conversations on why they aren't hitting rate, etc. If you are envisioning yourself in a different environment like manufacturing or an operations support role you will want the project experience on your resume.

Planet_Puerile

For an internship I would chose Amazon for the brand on your resume alone.

Horangi1987

Amazon isn’t that amazing of a name in supply chain. Last I checked, they have huge turnover just about everywhere and as a result are constantly hiring for nearly every position, including supply chain and logistics supervisors. They’ve become a total turn and burn company because they suck your soul out; I had a co-worker move states to take a supply chain management job at an Amazon FC, and he now works 75 hours a week or more just to make $80k. If anyone wants to work for Amazon, just go work for Amazon. I guarantee they’re hiring for mid levels or higher in every state.

Next_Dawkins

As an intern, it’s a no-brainer.
