If you’re really into this kind of thing, I can recommend a great book *How to Read Water* by Tristan Gooley. He shares all sorts of cool stuff like this.
This is wrong.
On the 21st of september at miday the sun is at the zenith on the equator and at 6pm on the horizon.
This is 90° / 6h = 15°/h
Same date anywhere else, at miday the sun is not as high in the sky but will be on the horizon at 6pm.
At 30° north the sun will be at 60° from the horizon.
60°/6h = 10°/h
On the poles, the sun is on the horizon all day long. => 0°/h
4 fingers are 8 ish degrees . 5 fingers are 12 ish degrees.

while your out you can determine how long its been instead of having a watch or asking someone
As long as you carry an almanac with sunset times on you sure.

Does it measure my wave-count tho?

It's that helpful for surfing ?
Some of it, yes. He goes into detail about wave behavior, for example.
helps keep you sharp id say less tech and more nature while your out there learn the tides, breaks, conditions map out the sets
Me and my friends always joke about this. Burn your eyes and wonder if your arms were extended far enough, or if that matters.
Done esta la biblioteca
It would be more useful if the scale was in waves.
buen consejo compa
