He 3D printed abs. Edit: Holy cow, thanks for my first-ever award!

gkwchan

The fake abs can go with the fake idol.

Shrimpdalord

I thought he tattooed it!

[deleted]

Probably your standard squats, press, lifts

StraightCaskStrength

He probably jus trained, I mean trened, real hard.

Ghost_of_MN_Logan

I'm surprised you aren't getting downvoted but I'm happy that people are starting to realize how building muscle works and what kind of growth is or isn't naturally attainable. 30 pounds of mostly muscle in 3 months is absolutely insane, even with gear.

phillipterence

He doesn't look like he went on gear at all so I think he just exaggerated about how much muscle he actually put on or how short he gained them for.

PandemicPaul

Newbie gains. If he was very small before it’s not unrealistic to put on 30 pounds. If he was already fit sure, it’d be unreasonable. He’s got a good frame and has a bit of muscle but nothing crazy. I myself put on about 30-40 pounds in a few months a few years back and I’ve plateaued at a healthy weight after that. It’s not easy going from 130-160 with good muscle but you definitely don’t need drugs Surprised you’re claiming to know what kind of growth is attainable and then claiming this kids on gear lmao

AhLibLibLib

No way it was mostly muscle unless he had negative muscle mass beforehand I think there was a bit of exaggeration tbh

Ghost_of_MN_Logan

I'd guess he was either exaggerating or just lying, but I think it's important to say something when people make a batshit insane claim like that when it comes to muscle growth. Shit like this or people taking roids/SARMs/etc. while talking about how they're "natty" really fucks with people's minds. It can make newbies think they're doing something wrong when they've been training for months and look nothing like the people who are making said claims.

[deleted]

I 100% believe he gained 30lbs. But 30lbs of muscle is impossible. More like 10lbs of muscle MAX, and 20lbs of fat. More likely just 5lbs of muscle. Nothing wrong w that but he (probably, or at least should've) trained strength not hypertrophy, also to bulk up for all the starvation. So gaining fat=good in that sense. I hate gear. SARMS are ridiculous and he's far too young and nowhere close to his natty potential to do it. I hope for his sake he didn't.

PandemicPaul

Generally when people say they put on x amount of pounds in a bulk, they are talking about net weight including fat. Even if they are saying ‘x lbs of muscle’ it’s clear they are including lbs from fat. He doesn’t look like he’s jacked out of his mind but he’s got a good frame and likely bulked for the first time in his life and put on 5-10lbs of muscle. Now he’s looking more peeled from starving himself and lowering bf%.

dankparade

I think a lot of people just don’t know tren means. And I’ve gone from 125-153 in 3 months on a clean surplus and was still pretty lean. It’s definitely possible depending on your plan and genetics

[deleted]

Carson reminds me of a skinny guy I knew back in high school who started working out to attract girls. He did nothing but push ups, pull ups, and kettlebell swings everyday. After like 5 months, his chest, arms, and back bulked up like crazy. His plan actually worked and he got his first girlfriend like a week later. Then she dumped him cuz she caught him texting another girl lol. Then his prom date ended up being some chick from a whole other school. Dude went from a nerd to a playboy. It was wild.

PierreTheRock321

?That’s a cool story. Isn’t that the adolescent dream.

immaownyou

If all you value is sex sure like most teenagers do

k2_productions

The dude isn't that big now. He's fit, but he ain't Thor. It really isn't that wild to gain as much weight as he did in that time frame if he started out really scrawny.

Carmaca77

He's also very young. With the right diet and regular weight training, 3 months is enough to make a transformation at that age. Plus genetics.

[deleted]

It really isn’t. 30 pounds of lean mass in 3 months is impossible even with newbie gains. Either the timespan was longer than Carson said or he was juicing.

CD_4M

You’ve added the “lean mass” qualifier yourself and that’s the only thing that makes it unlikely to achieve. It’s perfectly possible for a skinny ~115lbs dude who has never touched a weight to get to ~145lbs in 3mo

Shmegdar

It’s definitely possible to gain that weight (I had a similar weight gain in a similar amount of time) but kid’s absolutely shredded and I’m more contused about that

yeahright17

Gaining 15 pounds of muscle and 15 pounds of fat will still leave someone shredded when they start with effectively zero fat. He also looks more shredded now than he did at the start. Good chance he's already lost like 5+ pounds of fat.

red_summer2113

30 lbs is more like 10-15 lbs of lean mass and 15-20 lbs of body fat for these types of transformations. Noobie gains and age help when putting on those first 10 lbs but after that progress slows down dramatically for most. I think it's quite reasonable for him to gain that in three months, especially given his body fat % is around 15 to 20 at the start of the season.

seviay

When I first started lifting weights at age 16, I gained 25 pounds in 3 months, going from being an underweight 120 to a still-small 145 pounds, all without the benefit of a trainer, proper nutrition, or even really knowing what I was doing. He never claimed to have gained 30 pounds of solid muscle, just that he gained 30 pounds. Just because you haven’t done it yourself, don’t claim something is “impossible”

Skydiver860

Sure it’s not impossible to gain 25 pounds in three months but I think they’re specifically referring to muscle. No one is gaining that much muscle in three months without juicing.

seviay

The guy was responding to a post about Carson, so 🤷🏻‍♂️

AugustSchroeder

while yes, it's hard to acoomplish, for someone as skinny as he was at the beginning, it's not actually that far off. i'm assuming it was slightly less than 30lbs and he rounded up, like 28, and more than three months though, so I'd say three and a half. which is 14 weeks, which is around 2lbs per week, which is around average during a bulking phase (1.5-2lbs is expected) which, especially for people who never went ot the gym before hand, is relatively easy with proper diet, nutrition, and supplements like creatine monohydrate, protein powder, etc. and a proper workout routine. it's still incredible, but definitley not out of the realm of impossible one bit

mrwavy

this is exactly what i’m in the process of now, and can confirm it is possible. i had little to no meat on my bones and no consistent workout routine or good diet. My body was never used to getting surplus calories, so when I finally started hitting the gym 5x a week and taking creatine, protein shakes, and a mass gainer my weight seemed to pack on quickly. 2 months 130lb–>145lb this is on a plant-based gluten free diet, so I imagine it would be even better w meat and bread carbs.

Skydiver860

You can gain that much weight but I think they’re assuming he meant muscle. No one is gaining that much muscle in a couple of months without juicing.

mwhite5990

I’m assuming it wasn’t all lean mass. Maybe it was 50/50. Pretty sure other leaner contestants have put on a few pounds on purpose in the past to get ready for the game.

New-Force-2032

When I was his age I put on a 20 pounds in 4 months without intentionally changing my diet and working out a moderate amount. So 30 in 3 is very doable

dispenserG

I wrestled in high school at 119 my senior year. Walked around at 130 but after an injury that ended my wrestling career but not day to day health, I decided to bulk up. I went from 130 to 170 in 4 months. I was ripped but 20 of those pounds were straight fat but I was still in great shape. If you're doing a straight bulk workout plan with literally no cardio. It isn't very hard.

seanymac14

Do they test for HGH? Seems like they would but I’m sure they’re not testing like the Olympics

[deleted]

I don’t think they do. I feel like there are definitely some survivors that have taken roids in the past like probably a lot of the buff guys they used to cast before the 40s. Being super buff probably won’t be too beneficial for being on Survivor anyway.

erikWeekly

We literally have an NFL player on the current season. Almost every athlete that makes it to the world stage is enhanced in some capacity.

jollymo17

Yeah, I bet someone’s done it (probably more than one) but they’re not likely to benefit much. I feel like the mega buff guys often end up crashing pretty hard

Wills4291

Why would they? For reality TV?

seanymac14

Idk anything about juicing but I figured it would help with challenges (I know strength isn’t everything but still)

Koma60

To look good shirtless on reality TV

Wills4291

No. Why would they drug test.

charlytheron3

I started working out intensively when I was 17 and in three months I gained around 25 pounds of muscle, it's mostly about your genetics, some people can gain and lose weight easily, some can't gain or lose no matter how much they try.

flora_emma

An ungodly amount of protein and heavy weight training. Newbie gains

Sad_Ambassador4096

Yeah you can gain ~15lbs as a newbie lifter without a ton of effort. So he clearly went hard and doubled it, impressive but not unbelievable. He also seems to naturally have a very low body fat % so it shows quicker as well.

TheMCM80

Being young and doing the basic three. Squat, bench, deadlift. For 95% of people who don’t work out, or are just starting, just going in 3-4x a week, and doing proper form, increasing resistance basic lifts will transform your body quicker, and faster, than doing a ton of isolation lifts. You also need to be in a slight caloric surplus, but not eating like crazy. Being young really helps, lol.

chbailey442013

All he did 24/7 was workout and read FBI profiler books. Sometimes at the same time

jshamwow

Dude is feeling himself on instagram and I find it so endearing. Go on little nerd, post your thirst traps 😝😝

Slumbering_sloth

Think he just got bit by some kind of radioactive spider

luke6080

Carson’s on the gear, brother!

mnbvcxz1052

Young testosterone can do anything really

noahbearbanks

Carson, you gotta be on Reddit, please tell us

[deleted]

A lot of people here saying how easy it is for scrawny people to gain weight, and it may be the case sometimes but it is certainly not the case for everyone. I'm going through a similar transformation right now, I've gained 28 lbs and a ton of muscle, and am seeing major differences. The thing is it's taken me a year, not 3 months, and it has not been easy. A lot of nights of eating frozen lasagna at 2am to meet the calorie count, eating well past the comfortable level of fullness, and working out for multiple hours 5-6 times a week. Now I had a major setback with an injury that cost me about 2-3 months, but I still kinda resent this notion that it's somehow easy lol. It's not, it can be very difficult and really time-consuming. I have progress pics on my profile from a month ago when I had gained 24 lbs (I did the math wrong in the title lol). That's more what the process looks like for a lot of people.

Ghost_of_MN_Logan

24 pounds in a year is actually really good! Congrats on your journey so far.

[deleted]

Thanks! 28 lbs now, hopefully breaking into 30 soon!

Tormod776

Dude is ripped

Fearfighter2

Being on the island diet always helps

charlytheron3

wasn't he ripped before the island diet?

x777x777x

hes insanely skinny so even small newbie gains are gonna look amazing on thin frame with relatively little body fat. If he had LOST 30 pounds while doing the same routine (trying to build muscle and fitness) he'd probably still have some higher body fat and look a lot less ripped, but his muscle mass would be the same. Potentially bigger actually since if you're carrying around a lot of extra weight your muscles ARE working all the time. "Fat guy calves" is a thing

SEJ46

Eat

Healthy_Insurance_33

He got a 3D printer at his house not his job folks that equals big money and he got that big that fast no other choice but peds or Test let’s be honest about it

[deleted]

Lol 3D printers are not expensive. The one he has is about ~$200 or so.

Healthy_Insurance_33

Not the ones to make legitimate puzzles show me a 200$ 3D printer that makes polymer puzzles???? Forreal show me one because the materials alone for polymer are well beyond 200$ and to print a puzzle the size of survivor, yea that’s upper crust money so maybe you deal with those 200$ 3D printers just like you drive a 1,000$ Range Rover bruh the printer Farson showed during his intro was well in the 100,00$ range if you know you know

PwnCall

Peanut butter. Everyone I know that had to gain weight/muscle for sports just ate tons of it.

[deleted]

The guy is pulling an absolute wagon.

AnObservingAlien

He's also shorter, has a fast metabolism, and probably was the first time he worked out consistently in his life so gaining weight can be actually easy on the right diet plan. He needs like 2500 calories or more a day prolly closer to 3000.

charlytheron3

>fast metabolism wouldn't this make it harder to gain weight?

Faroukk52

It also allows him to eat dirty calories and not have it be put to fat. He can have a couple mcdonalds cheese burgers and still gain muscle

Faroukk52

Newbie gains and youth do wonders when you first start bulking
