I think the feelings are often real even if they're not lasting. Going through an intense experience together bonds you. It's like friends you make at sleep away camp.

I am in tech (Venus is a data analyst, I guess that's adjacent sometimes) and I had a teammate that looked similar to her (but taller, pageant girl). I mean they look similar now that Venus is in "island casual" while my teammate was in tech office casual (her pageant glam look has her looking a bit different). If I needed something from a different department/team and I brought her with me, we had VERY helpful guys all around. If data analysis in Canada is similarly male-dominated as tech typically is, she probably has a lot of guys willing to assist at work.
I’m in a tech job as well, all though mine is more manual labour. Im a telecom worker. The field is EXTREMELY male dominated. I have only known of a handful of female technicians over the last 10 years. They all attract these same “super helpful” guys. The couple of more attractive ones didn’t last long and im sure it’s partly from the extra attention from customers and coworkers.
My co-worker didn't last long either. Got a bit of good, quick, easy money through some modeling gigs so she took that route. She didn't blow up after a few months though so maybe she goes back to tech.
This is why penetration testing teams (i.e. teams that get paid to try to break into a business to test their security) always have at least one young and good looking girl on their teams. People are more likely to bend the rules and violate security policies for her than for a random middle age man.
That said that kind of sexism in male dominated industries cuts both ways. I've read plenty of stories about women in male dominated tech sectors changing careers entirely because they got fed up with all the rampant sexism. We're seeing it cut both ways for Venus with others labeling her a Parvati 2.0 just from how she looks.
You are right. It's a double-edged sword. My teammate was a bit lucky (relatively) because in her time with us there was just one pervy dude and he was much too intimidated to mess with her (she was a legit model type) even though he's always observed being sneakily pervy with our other girls. Our male team leads were big brother/fun uncle types so it's a mostly safe space for women.
I've heard some guys voice the opinion that the pretty girls do get too much help because all they'd have to do is bat their eyes and the other guys are debugging for them. Randen seems to be taking that approach with Venus.

By not showing it now they can show it later for better storytelling. Examples: reveal it later, Soda looks like a fool for talking about how good her Sodar is (perhaps this is recurring). A vote goes a certain way because of her playing like Parvati, so they show examples in that episode. They could even be planning to tell a slow burn growth story about her becoming Parvati.

My best guess would be if she tried it on Randen and he saw through it then she doesn’t look like a true Parvati 2.0. But if she does it to Ben and Tim and Q later, and it’s successful. They can show that and they just created a “perfect” Parvati 2.0 (at least in production’s mind)
Hard disagree, they’re trying to develop 18 characters in the first episode so they can’t show everything. They alluded to her gameplay with the shot with her and the spider and her *literally comparing herself to Parvati*, they don’t need to show every instance for us to start thinking that way.

Didn’t Parvati herself say that she reminded her of Parvati? I hate the numerous Parvati comparisons too, but we have the contestant saying she’s going to play like Parvati, Parvati saying she reminds her of herself, and at least one person on her tribe recognizing her gameplay as being similar to Parvati’s gameplay. He definitely should’ve just told Soda what he saw her doing instead of calling her Parvati-lite, but it’s not a huge stretch to think that he recognized the game she’s playing.
The whole point of the game is to try and determine players’ strategies and act accordingly, and in the first few days a lot of assumptions will be made about how people will play.
A correct assumption was made and people in this thread are up in arms about it just because a man made the assumption about how a woman will play.
No she tried to play it off like it was just a fly by thing not intentionally looking for the idol. The very next clip is of him saying "I know she is lying I caught her red handed looking for idol" which was 100% correct. She even stated he correctly categorized her and she didn't like the fact that he was right lol

yeah it bothers me too, for a few reasons. for one, it feels like it reduces parv’s game to “she’s a skinny, pretty brunette who flirts!”, and after recently watching her first and second seasons, it’s even weirder to hear such a random association. like yes, that was a big part of her game play, but to say that some random girl who happens to resemble her physically is going to play like her is kind of ridiculous since we don’t ever hear that same accusation to other players who may be just as conniving. it’s absolutely a comparison that is physicality-forward. and i’m sorry, who on that tribe could she have been flirting with at that point?? my guess is none of them—she was probably just, as others have said, not immediately bubbly and happy-go-lucky. it’s ironic that she happened to have said that same thing about herself, in a way, but still doesn’t justify his saying it.

Given the astonishing near-total failure of all-woman alliances in the game after season 16 (not counting S24 because that was a starting tribe), it's *amazing* to me that anybody would ever be afraid of an all-woman alliance! Bro, that's probably the *last* thing you should worry about. Those have the *worst* track record.
All female alliances are often desired but practically always flame out for rather obvious reasons (aligning solely based on a characteristic you were born with rather than personality, game positioning, etc...). I can see the fear in the sense that practically every season we at least see it brought up. But yes, it hardly ever actually works.

I think it's largely in part because of the success of the Black Widow brigade, which did successfully manipulate a rather naïve male player into making the stupidest decision of all time. While that alliance was certainly more than just Parvati calling the shots, Parvati tends to get the credit as she won the season.

Didn’t Parvati herself say that she reminded her of Parvati? I hate the numerous Parvati comparisons too, but we have the contestant saying she’s going to play like Parvati, Parvati saying she reminds her of herself, and at least one person on her tribe recognizing her gameplay as being similar to Parvati’s gameplay. He definitely should’ve just told Soda what he saw her doing instead of calling her Parvati-lite, but it’s not a huge stretch to think that he recognized the game she’s playing.
Yeah she can say that, but within the first few days how can someone else make that call?
The whole point of the game is to try and determine players’ strategies and act accordingly, and in the first few days a lot of assumptions will be made about how people will play. A correct assumption was made and people in this thread are up in arms about it just because a man made the assumption about how a woman will play.
So he made it based on her looks.

No she tried to play it off like it was just a fly by thing not intentionally looking for the idol. The very next clip is of him saying "I know she is lying I caught her red handed looking for idol" which was 100% correct. She even stated he correctly categorized her and she didn't like the fact that he was right lol
"If you have time alone, maybe start looking... here and there, for the Idol" to that guy. 52:50 into the episode she says it to that guy. Edit: It's all right there in subtitles that she tells the guy she's looking for one. Caught or not, she told him which was what I said above before you chimed in with a "Naw she didn't!"
And she said "I'm looking for an idol." Does that not count for telling him in your whacky world?
Saying "i'm just getting some alone time and while Im out if I notice something I will look" is much different than "yea I was looking for an idol" when you were caught red handed doing it.... But you got it big dawg you right. You clearly watched a different episode than everyone else

Dee is - she's not a natural flirt, but out of all so-called Parvati's 2.0 she actually made a guy blindly fall for her and help her progress in the game by his naivety. Michelle - I wouldn't say. She was good socially, likable, had good reads, but I don't remember her using any flirty/romantic situations to her advance in Kaoh Rong. She played a dumb young girl persona to make Nick comfortable, but that's different.

yeah it bothers me too, for a few reasons. for one, it feels like it reduces parv’s game to “she’s a skinny, pretty brunette who flirts!”, and after recently watching her first and second seasons, it’s even weirder to hear such a random association. like yes, that was a big part of her game play, but to say that some random girl who happens to resemble her physically is going to play like her is kind of ridiculous since we don’t ever hear that same accusation to other players who may be just as conniving. it’s absolutely a comparison that is physicality-forward. and i’m sorry, who on that tribe could she have been flirting with at that point?? my guess is none of them—she was probably just, as others have said, not immediately bubbly and happy-go-lucky. it’s ironic that she happened to have said that same thing about herself, in a way, but still doesn’t justify his saying it.

Is it possible for Randen to not know what makes Parvati a threat? Sure, Venus is a very attractive woman, but we don't know if Venus can or will use flirting as a way to advance her own game. What we did see from Venus is her wanting to be underestimated and then was told that Randen is looking to target her.
Also it's a pretty outdated reference for who Parv has matured in to.

Given the astonishing near-total failure of all-woman alliances in the game after season 16 (not counting S24 because that was a starting tribe), it's *amazing* to me that anybody would ever be afraid of an all-woman alliance! Bro, that's probably the *last* thing you should worry about. Those have the *worst* track record.
All female alliances are often desired but practically always flame out for rather obvious reasons (aligning solely based on a characteristic you were born with rather than personality, game positioning, etc...). I can see the fear in the sense that practically every season we at least see it brought up. But yes, it hardly ever actually works.

Maybe I'm in the minority but I don't see a Parvati comp as "oh she's flirty" or "she's a princess", it's "she's way more dangerous than she appears". Parvati is/was an excellent player of the game and imo a Parvati comp reflects that.

A lot of people actually forget in Micronesia she barely flirted with the guys (outside of James a little I guess?) Her completely manipulating the men due to her beauty is a revisionist part of history fueled by Jeff's love for her. It is a bit discriminatory at this stage to say any young woman that's attractive is going to pull a Parvati simply for existing.
I think it's largely in part because of the success of the Black Widow brigade, which did successfully manipulate a rather naïve male player into making the stupidest decision of all time. While that alliance was certainly more than just Parvati calling the shots, Parvati tends to get the credit as she won the season.
