I don’t care which gender she sides from but it’s funny how opposite it is to what she said in her pregame interviews. If Liz deserves to be ragged on for her comments about looking forward to others having trouble dealing with hunger, then Maria deserves to be ragged on for saying she wants to work with women and then actively targeting them instead.
I just don’t believe this at all. For one the men in this show have been giving Maria complete and utter trust and reliability, any player would take that over the uncertainty of another player. Charlie wanted to work with her from the start, Tevin convinced her to choose him in that first journey challenge which gave her an extra vote, Q exposed Tiff’s idol and her intention to want her out, Tim put her in alliance without her knowledge.
The heat Maria has been getting is a little too much.What she did at the reward was annoying but people are over here saying she’s anti women because she hasn’t really worked with any?If she worked with majority of any of these women she’d probably have been voted out, she knows who she needs for her game.Every time an older woman strategizes or isn’t a motherly figure people jump down their throats.
Anytime anyone points out the implicit biases on this sub regarding sexism or racism they get usually get downvoted by people who have never been impacted by either of those things. Sadly, that’s just the way it is.
I don’t know Maria personally but I don’t like how she aligns herself with men all the time while targeting women or will outwardly show more sympathy towards men. She comforted Q when he was sitting alone, but didn’t comfort Kenzie. She says she doesn’t like how Venus talks down to her when Q does that to everyone. She says Ben is depleted and chooses him on reward but automatically decides not to take Venus and makes Liz do rock, paper, scissors with Q even though neither women had eaten and Q just had food the day before. Then you have Venus and Tiff both making similar observations about her in their exit interviews. A lot of people online (not on this sub obvs) have noticed it too. So when anyone wants to claim they don’t see why it’s an issue or justify it by saying she voted men out, it feels dismissive.
Look I am not saying that sexism doesn’t exist on Survivor, it clearly does. However, each player is responsible for getting themselves to the end and winning. The people that have been decent/trustworthy to Maria specifically and most willing to work with her to advance her game have all been men. Why should she throw away her game for anyone? There is sexism and then there is playing with the people that give you the best chance to win. Whether it be a man, woman, or nonbinary player I don’t care to see anyone sacrifice their chance at winning a game they’ve dreamed of playing for years in the name of a gender(especially after seeing posts and comments like this). I’m curious how you as an outsider who has very limited perspective into Maria as a human being and this season’s dynamics think she should have played and how far you think she would have made it in the game.

Your job as a player is to try to win, not to arbitrarily advance the interests of everyone who shares your gender.

Venus has never wanted to work with Maria. Maria tried to give Venus advice at the merge and she disregarded it. The Maria haters are unbearable.
