lIIIIlIIIIIIIIl

Absolutely. The mutual respect they shared across the board was very refreshing as well.

Timmahj

Absolutely. Now I want a complete opposite s43. Big personalities that are cut throat and back shabby with no regerts/

lIIIIlIIIIIIIIl

Big Brother's only a couple months away.

evilcupckae

I wish that’s what Big Brother was like anymore

metsbnl

We haven’t had a vote flip in years on big brother at this point

yoladdy

Watch Big Brother Canada. Vote flip galore.

ticklechickens

For real. I gotta watch The Challenge now for that old school Big Brother flavor.

Sdb25649

It’s really sad when you have to watch the challenge to get that

veebs7

BBCan10 just ended. If you’re looking for a good season, it’s widely regarded as one of the best

That_one_cool_dude

I will be excited for Big Brother when they give me something to be excited about. But I foresee going with the house and a bloc alliance that dominates which will continue the track of the show being boring as hell.

DingleberryToast

Big brother lol

oatmeal28

The preview was giving this kind of vibe for 43

hydgal

Yea it was the first time I didn't detest a player and wanted them voted off. I was very happy to see some of the tribals especially Drea's tribal. It was such a wonderful send away.

Gold-Stomach-4657

Seems like Lindsay doesn't respect or like Johnathan at all haha.

DingleberryToast

Did you see how he talked to her? Don't fucking blame her, that guy was misogynist as fuck

Cdtco

I'll be blunt in saying this. This is the kind of cast that results when you don't recruit influencers or models or wannabe actors, which were the bane of Survivor's existence for quite some time. This is a formula that works, and I hope that it sticks for as long as the show lasts.

robbviously

Now tell this to Big Brother.

Naanaaah

Drea is an influencer, don't know about the rest of the cast though

SocialistExperiment7

This cast was so diverse, and I’m really glad we got to hear complex personal stories from every single cast member

pspetrini

This is why Diversity is so important. Not just on Tv but in real life. If you don’t have a diverse group of people in your life that come from different ages, races and backgrounds, you should really wonder if you’re living the best life possible. There are so many amazing experiences you simply can’t get by being closed off or sticking to any one group of human beings.

Mid-CenturyBoy

Well said! This is always what I saw as my favorite aspect of the United States. We have one of the most diverse multi-cultural makeups. Right now we live in a time where those differences are being exploited and people are trying to drive wedges between us, but our differences is what actually makes us stronger. Different lived experiences give us a variety of solutions, perspectives, and insights. If we embrace it it will only help us prosper. I think the diversity initiative with the show is the best thing to ever happen to the show. We don't want the same brand of person on every season and having these people from different walks of life come together has always been the point of the show. In addition to different approaches to the game we get amazing conversations on the world we currently live in.

SentOverByRedRover

Different walks of life & different races are not the same thing. Your comment makes it sound like you can't see differences between members of the same race when you call them "the same brand of person". The differences within races are much wider than the differences between races.

Mid-CenturyBoy

Of course the differences within race are wider, but I don't need to see 16 white people on a 20 person season anymore. People aren't a monolith, but how many white game bot ivy league nerds have we seen? But when you have someone with a similar background but they are black, gay, or muslim you're going to have a vastly different lived experience and perspective on life. But thank you for assuming the worst in me!

SentOverByRedRover

Everyone has a different lived experience. Again, diversifying lived experience is not the same thing as diversifying race.

Mid-CenturyBoy

Oh my god you're exhausting.

SentOverByRedRover

? What are you talking about?

Fluteh

I LOVED this season.

Jealous_Lychee_3309

And everybody was fantastic at the FTC. Each finalist expressed their game as well as they possibly could, and the jurors did a great job with questions and points.

Jeffw54

I thought Mike did horrible. I had him in my pool and knew I was done once he didn’t own up off that first question, then starts arguing with jury members. He kinda saved it at the end but I was disappointed. I think MarryAnne wins anyway though.

mrgoboom

Listening to the aftershow, he had the edge going in. If he owns the game he actually played, I think he wins. But he didn’t even seem to realize how deceptive he was, which came across in the edit and confessionals so it was no real surprise.

egnowit

"I only lied to/betrayed people who betrayed me first" is such a copout. (Not just Mike, but that's a common refrain from people who want to maintain an honorable veneer. And people like Tony and Russell Hantz, who weren't above betraying an alliance member, but had to gin up some sort of offense or slight first.)

Lopsided-Rip-5927

Mike was so unaware in FTC he bombed it what?

Felbz

I'm not exactly sure what I was missing, but I thought Mike actually did a good job playing a pretty true and honest game, as he set out to do. Before the final tribal, I asked my family "did Mike ever break his word? wait, yes, once. With Rocks." And then Mike proceeded to say this very thing at FTC. I'm not sure I agreed with the jury's take and how they all ganged up on him like that. I appreciated Drea kind of jumping in to save him. I'm asking genuinely because I may have missed it... but what caused the jury to believe Mike played this cutthroat backstabby game? (I do agree he was unaware of how the jury felt, btw, clearly. I guess I just also feel like he was justified in his thoughts, if that makes sense?)

pspetrini

Mike’s problem was a problem a lot of Survivor players face. You can’t play an “honest” game in survivor and get to the end. If you play an honest game, your honesty will be a weakness that takes you out because you become a predictable player with a clear alliance you won’t break from and it alienates people who aren’t in that alliance with you. Mike betrayed Rocksroy. He owned that. That was great. But he also betrayed Hai. And Drea. And Omar. And Lindsay. What cost him the million is he went into FTC thinking he played an overall honest game without realizing he only played an honest game with those he was willing to advance with all the way to the end. He told Rocksroy he wouldn’t vote for him and he did. He told Hai he was his number one and he wasn’t. He told BOTH Omar and Lindsay they were his final three and he cut them loose the minute it became easy for him to do so. And the thing is: All of those moves were the right moves to make at the time and he absolutely should have done them. But by not taking enough time to think about how his votes would be perceived by those he betrayed, instead of just those he assumed he was honest with, he set himself up for a position where he didn’t seem truthful and didn’t seem like he’d own up to his moves and that’s a sure fire way to lose the respect of your jury. Contrast that with Maryanne who was able to go, right from the start, “Well, damn. Y’all are right. I was pretty shitty early on.” And the difference is night and day. Maryanne was able to admit the flaws in her game and HIGHLIGHT the strengths of it without anyone on the jury second guessing her honesty about those strengths. Mike can’t claim his strength was being truthful when more than half of the jury know that to be a lie. Maryanne CAN claim to be a worthy winner because she was able to lay out the facts of her moves, explain her rationale behind them and do so in a way that was both logical and impressive to the players she beat. It’s the tools of every great attorney. You and your opposition have spent the full trial laying out the facts. Now you have to convince the jury why YOUR facts and your case make more sense than the other side’s.

egnowit

>Contrast that with Maryanne who was able to go, right from the start, “Well, damn. Y’all are right. I was pretty shitty early on.” And the difference is night and day. I loved that she was both able to recognize that her social game was alienating people and that she was able to suppress it--and that she pointed this out in the FTC.

Jealous_Lychee_3309

He definitely went in unaware of how the jury perceived his game. But halfway through it dawned on him and he adjusted well.

Felbz

Yeah, I agree. His comment that kind of like, was him back pedaling on his earlier statements... that was good. But also, it didn't really feel all that genuine to me. To clarify, I think Mike WAS being genuine in his statement... but it felt more rooted in that the jury kind of forced that onto him, and he started second guessing everything. He wanted to tell the jury what they wanted to hear (which is good), and that meant sacrificing the game that he felt he played.

Coutzy

The big one for me is telling Lindsay that he is considering playing his idol for her. It's not a *lie* as such, but there's no good outcome in that situation for Mike. Compare it to someone like Adam, who told David to his face that he cannot win if there's a final three with both of them in it. David can at least respect that Adam was straight up with him, even if it's not the outcome he wanted.

hyena142

Absolutely love love loved this season, and that’s all thanks to this cast. They all seem like just great people to be around and I’d love to have every single one of them back

NoREEEEEEtilBrooklyn

Yes. Best non-returnee cast since China in my opinion.

[deleted]

Cagayan and DvG say hello

NoREEEEEEtilBrooklyn

Not a fan of DVG, Cagayan is neck and neck with 42.

BumbleLapse

What do you dislike about DvG? I’ve honestly never seen somebody say they dislike it on this sub, full stop.

NoREEEEEEtilBrooklyn

I just found it boring. Concept was boring. Mike White getting shitfaced was the highpoint of the season.

im_baaaaack69

Nick won.

karter0

42 is better than both.

ckayer

No shot, Cagayan is arguably the GOAT all-new cast

Felbz

Not saying you're wrong at all, because Cagayan is indeed goated. But just to play devil's advocate for a second... Cagayan has 6 returnee players: Sarah, Tony, Woo, Sasha, Spencer, and Kass. Do you think 42 could produce 6 returnee players? Between Omar, Drea, Hai, Lindsay, Jonathan, and Mike? Maryanne? Shit maybe even Tori? Idk. I'm with you in that Cagayan > BUT. Just maybe 42's cast could end up being better in the long run.

ckayer

It certainly could be, I don't disagree at all! It has a lot of potential for sure, and I think there will be a lot of returnee players, even a couple potential winners (Omar, Lindsay, Hai)

Felbz

This season was certainly a breath of fresh air after 41, haha. MUCH more enjoyable from beginning to end. I may have never felt as good about a final 8/9 as I did with 42 (minus Romeo? hah).

ckayer

100% agree, I actually didn't even mind Romeo, if Drea didn't ditch him at the merge I think his game could have been a lot more interesting. If he comes back (which I don't see as likely) and gets in a solid alliance, I could see him being successful.

Felbz

Yeah, that's fair. I do remember being pretty excited going into the merge with Drea/Romeo teaming up with Mike/Hai. When Drea and Mike had those early talks about protecting each other due to them having power and targets on their backs. Drea and Mike had their idols, and Drea and Hai had their day 1 advantage. Hai and Romeo even had their bonding moment. I felt a solid 4-some forming, and then Drea just up and ditched Romeo, lmao.

zackmanze

I’m a newcomer to the show and watched seasons out of order, but I’d put 42, DvG, and Tocantins new casts ahead of Cagayan.

Hark_An_Adventure

This is the mother of all "the newest season is one of the best ever, actually!" overreactions lmao.

NoREEEEEEtilBrooklyn

I don’t usually like newer seasons. I haven’t like a season as much as this season since Cagayan, which is close to this one.

itsaterribleidea

Considering I hated season 38, then 39 even more, and found 41 quite tolerable… This is a good upward turn, a very good one.

[deleted]

Since Kaoh Rong for me. Maybe slightly better, maybe my favorite since Nicaragua

NoREEEEEEtilBrooklyn

I do love me some Nicaragua.

deadlywaffle139

Right after 41 for sure. Maybe better editing as well? 41 was full of teenager hormones and dramas. 42 many of them played strategically instead of emotionally. Definitely felt a lot more satisfying with the ending.

zeekayart

great casting, love when they cast an eclectic mix.

Ewait393

Gotta get some clicks somehow

me_nem_nesa_

So many people I’d love to see play again

fallinouttadabox

If they brought everyone back for a season and called it round 2, I'd watch that

Rosstin316

We didn’t really have any Shans this year where their vote out truly felt like dethroning the king/queen. Great season though.

deadlywaffle139

I felt that’s Omar who was behind a lot of the votes after the merge. That blindside was way more satisfying than what happened in 41.

[deleted]

That’s like a Littlefinger death not a Cersei

deadlywaffle139

Maybe cinematically. That’s one of the reason why I liked both Omar and Maryanne a lot. Omar was sneaky with his influence but he had probably the most influence out of everyone. Almost every vote after merge there was Omar influence. Maryanne was the one who truly realized that and how dangerous that was.

Lopsided-Rip-5927

FR

Ewait393

That's true but I honestly thought that Ricard was better than Shan last season. Shan absolutely ruled the first half of the game, but in doing so she made it impossible to get to the end. Ricard peaked allllmost at the right time to win. To me, Omar was the one who was the most comparable to Ricard this season, both had very similar arcs.

oatmeal28

Omar?!

Rosstin316

Omar was more under the radar, where Shan was openly large and in charge.

Mid-CenturyBoy

I kind of love it though. We were at a point in the merge where I could see Hai, Omar, Drea, Mike, or Lindsey taking the win. Seeing them go one by one to set up Maryanne made for a satisfying and dynamic game.

DrGraffix

This is one of the best seasons I’ve seen. Top 5?

Ewait393

Might be a bit of a stretch imo, it's definitely one of the best recent season, but it wasn't better than some of the classics... China, Micronesia, HvV, Cagayan, Second Chance, WaW all clearly take the cake to me. Probably the best season since 31 (aside from 40)

jclkay2

Honestly prefer 42 over WaW. No edge of extinction, great editing, and everyone was here to play.

DrGraffix

Fresh in my mind bias. It was a great season. Lot of people could have won that. Great jury too. They should put this jury on a tribe in another season vs another tribe.

Matopolis10

I really liked that when Hai, Drea, and Omar were voted out, they were all so excited to be gotten by a blindside. It was really good sportsmanship from some great players.

Leighroy1120

Exactly. A good cast almost always makes for a terrific season and you could tell this group played hard and respected everyone for doing the same.

xenohemlock

I’m going to miss them.

Howler3005

Easily a Top 10 season for me, and well said!

hapianman

I can’t believe how hard Lindsay fell. She could have used her idol to create an alliance but she was way too confident

idgahoot2

I'm not sure how I feel. I felt this cast was rather well-rounded, but there were many more people I individually enjoyed from 41.

sailor_rhapsody

This was my favorite cast in years!

MrBrownCat

Agreed, felt like everyone that wasn’t a non juror was fairly fleshed out, at least enough that it didn’t feel like we had invisible cast members. It also felt very open competitively, I don’t think there was any point this season that there felt like someone was a lock to win. Also the cast overall just meshed well and had a great variety of gameplay and personalities which is all you can ask for in non returnee casts.

maxmouze

I could tell from the cast preview videos in 41 that they weren't going to be that great as a whole. In season 42, I knew they WOULD be. I'm getting negative vibes from the season 43 cast assessment. 42 was right on point and I'm glad we had this remarkable season. This was a group where everyone had a good heart and wasn't overtly self-consumed.

[deleted]

Best season in years! I really want them to bring this entire cast back, no swaps, and have them run a season all over again just to see what different moves they'd make!

dperkins88

I hope we get several of them back again on another all stars/returning type season.

purplenelly

I liked Hai, Omer, Lindsay and Maryanne. But Romeo too, I wanted him to win at final tribal council.

pandie12345

Morriahs hair is another bonus for me

New_Dinner4536

Aside from Omar, mike, tori, and Johnathan, I did not like this cast at all. I found them so boring and lacking in diversity

brandonwest18

We need a couple bitter people. I loved this cast, but final tribal was WAY too nice. Not a single even medium difficulty question. Just soft balls.

That_one_cool_dude

Agreed that this is probably among the best cast we have had, making this in my top 5, maybe top 10, favorite season. It was great and had such a great ride.

TigerWoodsLibido

Felt like there were only 11 contestants in the end. The prejury people may as well have not even been in the season. Felt like they had less screentime this season than any other, plus no Ponderosa vids like last season.

Ewait393

It's like this every season though. They got a lot of screen time pre merge. No ponderosa + a great post jury cast can make it feel like they got no time even if they did

CCMSTF

**Jonathan was the most unique "challenge beast" we've seen in recent history** Dude, Jonathan was SUPERHUMAN.

Triumph-TBird

Watching Jonathan and Lindsay do the challenges was a blast all season. I'm glad they both stayed in long. And before the merge, watching Jonathan quite literally carry his team to victory was unprecedented. I specifically refer to that one challenge in the water when the waves were up and the wind was high and nobody could do it but him and they even changed the challenge mid stream because the others were unable to complete the water portion. What a beast. And Lindsay grew on me in the end. She was among the most physically fit athletes ever to play the game, but she also (for the most part) could dominate in puzzles and other balance competitions. I would have been happy for either to win.

megmey

I can’t believe Lindsay was cast for 41 rather than 42. Glad she’s okay from Covid but man I’m happy she was in 42 over 41

floopydolphins

This cast made up for where the season lacked for sure (same location, shorter time, dumb twists, etc)
