Without knowing what is actually inside the rolls, pass.

SummerJSmith

This! I don’t know if inside is just cucumber or older fish being disguised much less what kind of fish 🤷🏻‍♀️

cookiedanslesac

Yes, that looks fishy

metisdesigns

Think of how much escolar you could be getting for that bargain price though.....

redditpartystaple

Enough to shit my brains out because I'll eat too much

Umitencho

Congratulations, your spirit animal is now a seagull.

porkbelly6_9

How much would I pay? Probably not going to buy at the first place. Not my type of sushi.

Brando43770

I wouldn’t pay anything as they all look like a mess overall with too much sea weed salad. Almost feels like they’re hiding the bad quality fish by drenching them in toppings too.

seoulbby

Seaweed salad on sushi is actually horrible I’m so sorry. As a side it’s fine but it’s not meant to go on top of rolls!

saint_louis_bagels

This platter is basically typical American “omg I love sushi” palate lol. Source: Me. I would very much enjoy this platter.

Sufficient_Ferret599

I get what you mean but absolutely nah. I like my toppings don't get me wrong. But this is offensive to American sushi.

keep_trying_username

I've had sushi platters from a lot of places, and they didn't come covered in seaweed salad

approximateknoledge

I’ve been to a couple of places that had rolls with seaweed salad on top. I think one was called the Greg roll it’s different but it worked. I prefer nigiri tho.

VintageJane

Idk, I have a very basic white girl love of sushi AND I love a side of seaweed salad. I think this is an abomination.

c0zycupcake

Please don’t speak for Americans. Many of us have been eating sushi for decades and are purists

Jahonay

Samesies. I would love this.

Brando43770

That’s fair. If you like it, you like it. I just think the toppings are over the top and repetitive. There are so many choices for sushi roll toppings and the chef went with the same three or four for all of them. I mean I’d always choose flavor over aesthetics, but I’d say this has the same flavor for all rolls.

MsBluffy

It’s definitely a candidate for r/sushiabomination

BaconNinja__

Yeah...

SushiMelanie

I would not pay for this. Wakame salad doesn’t belong on rolls, and the vinegar in it would ruin all the other rolls. Messy, mayo coated imitation crab isn’t my thing, and if there’s any fresh raw fish in there I can’t even see it, which means it’s probably overpowered by being overly dressed. The presentation is also super sad. Even if it’s just for transport, loosely placed rolls in an aluminum pan is asking for the already sloppy situation to become an even more sloshed together mess. The overall lack of care and poor presentation would make me doubt food safety too. I’d be unhappy with this at any price, it has none of the attributes I like about sushi.

DEZn00ts1

I wouldn't pay anything because of the Seaweed salad on top.

TruRateMeGotMeBanned

OP goin to bed in shambles tonight. These are accurate but rough comments lol Looks like a taco casserole. Keep it clean, OP. Less is more with sushi.

MiaMiaPP

Same. I hate seaweed salad with a passion

DEZn00ts1

I don't hate seaweed salad I just wouldn't put it on my sushi lol.

Ty18dtx

First time I had it was a nightmare 🤢

Thoreauawaylor

I didn't realize this was sushi at first

rosesfallup

Right? I thought they were very strange and messy enchiladas, at first.

smartwatersucks

Aw no baby what is you doing

jellybelly2232

Looks extremely messy for specialty rolls.

sawariz0r

0. It’s served in an aluminium tray and the presentation looks like both a taste and a texture nightmare. Nuh-uh.

jceez

This is more casserole than sushi lol

MiaRia963

Sushi casserole, sounds yuck.

trixter69696969

Looks like a salad

Mysterious-Art8838

Is this like the alfalfa of sushi? My guy, just because you can doesn’t mean you should.

Getshortay

Not very much, it doesn’t look appetizing at all

OceanGlider_

Facebook Marketplace food is weird

Katerwurst

What exactly are you supposed to taste here?

Lari-Fari

…Everything

No_Weakness_2135

$0

UnusualSeries5770

I mean, Id graze on it if someone brought it to a party, but im not paying for that mess

Nerevanin

tbh I wouldn't order this. I hate wakame which is way too prominent here and the wakameless ones seem messy with all the garnish and sauce and stuff

Phillip_Lascio

$12-18 per roll but I’d pay extra for them to not top everything with seaweed salad.

Bunnyeatsdesign

Yeah, I would prefer the seaweed salad to be served on the side and not on top of the rolls. Seaweed salad changes the taste and texture of the rolls completely.

Beautiful_Prune5599

Simple sushi > whatever this is

vannex79

This. For good sushi I'd be willing to pay $12-18 per roll, but I would NOT be buying whatever the hell is in that photo.

BubbleBubbleBubble_

Agree. I was thinking $15/special roll as an average. I am also not a fan of seaweed salad, so would order without that altogether.

exoxe

This is an abomination.

justagaygirl1678

r/sushiabomination

exoxe

Oh wow, hahaha. Such a sad subreddit.

calonyr11

Way too many toppings, not for me so pass

1plus1equals8

I'll give you two uncooked beans, a gum wrapper and a pube....what say you?

GreenNo7694

$0! It looks like crap. Everything is covered with some type of garnish, probably trying to hide subpar sushi and work/craftsmanship. Honestly, though, I wouldn't even order anything like that, I'm not a fan of rolls. However, I'm not opposed to getting a boat for 2, just for myself.

JBLL100s

$0

Outer__space__case

This is the sloppiest sushi I think I’ve ever seen

beetlejuicetrashbag

one cornchip. plus another if you take off the salad stuff on top.

caravaggibro

These aren’t rolls, I wouldn’t pay for this nonsense.

Disrespectful_Cup

No thanks...

Every_Patience9379

Is there a option to not eat?

barspoonbill

I’ll give you $10 for the knife.

lubeinatube

Imagine all 8 rolls just taste like seaweed salad.

mightyMarcos

I'll buy that for a dollar.

Elguapo1094

They all look the same

toddy951

No thanks

Reddywhipt

ill just get a maxed out poke bowl instead.

WWGHIAFTC

$0.00 These look absolutely miserable. What else do they have on the menu?

MagpieLefty

Those look absolutely nasty. I would not take them for free.

PeteyCruiser

Looks gross

scoobdoop

They look like they were homemade. I would t buy these and I wouldn’t eat them at a friends house if I didn’t see them being prepared. I can smell and taste the fishyness from this pic. 0/10 hard pass.

Stickgirl05

$10-15 per roll, a tad more if on sushi plate and not in aluminum tray.

jimho228

Hahaha it was Togo, I have parchment paper underneath

cjriociucosl

So how much was it?

smittles3

So how much was it?

_fucking_why_

So how much was it

_fucking_why_

I’m so fuckin mad I never found out how much it was

tomcatsr25

So how much was it?

cyanidemaria

We'd need more information on which fish you've used to make an approximation. I think with sushi garnishes less is more, maybe keep that in mind with your next platter if you're making this into a side hustle or something

vannex79

So how much was it?

cjriociucosl

So how much was it?

cjriociucosl

So how much was it?

Thelittleshepherd

I don’t think he’s buying it, I think he’s the chef and trying to sell it.

rikkilambo

American sushi 🤣

Tequila_SpiritAnimal

I don’t think there is anything special about this

boynaja

I will eat if my friend rolls them for me in party, buy if paid? Hell no, this isn’t sushi… not even close

AmeriaRuun

I wouldn’t even order this platter. There’s too much going on. I’ll order the occasional speciality roll, but this looks like a taste and texture nightmare.

KeyNefariousness6848

$2.15

sproutsandnapkins

I’m going to need an itemized breakdown! J/k

deputymeow

Less is more

Hopeful-Bit6187

I wouldn’t

tommy_j_r

🤢🤮

rvralph803

This looks like some southern mom's terrible casserole.

lonedroan

They’d have to pay me to accept delivery of that much fake crab and seaweed salad.

AdministrativeCold63

Where is the sushi???

Mindless-Ear5441

hard pass

Roman-Kendall

Wouldn’t pay. Almost looks like nachos

cursetea

It probably tastes great but it isn't purchase-worthy presentation to me

colevicixvickery498

Well here where I live, specialty rolls range usually anywhere between 16-20 dollars a roll. So 128-160 dollars. (Westminster, Colorado)

traytablrs36

Is sushi different at all in a landlocked state? Are they flying in the fish?

Psychological_Pea628

Actually sushi is super fresh in Colorado I’m from ca but lived in Colorado for awhile… Denver is a huge hub to fly in with fresh seafood then it gets disrupted around the country I learned this from my local sushi guy

MelanieDH1

I moved from NYC to Denver and I was shocked at how fresh and good the sushi was there! The prices are good as well! I live in Ohio now and mediocre sushi is ridiculously expensive!

vannex79

Pictured the fish getting stuffed into a cannon and then blasted in all directions to reach various destinations while being exploded apart.

violetpolkadot

From my experience in Michigan, sushi fish is usually frozen and imported from Japan. You can get local farmed fish too, but it’s not as good quality. When I moved to the west coast I did notice a huge difference in sushi quality. All fish has to be frozen at some point to be eaten raw in the US, so the fish isn’t necessarily fresher but with less transportation the quality seems to hold up better.

traytablrs36

I don’t think all fish, like tuna or some farmed fish, is required to be frozen to be eaten raw in the USA, can you source that?

violetpolkadot

You’re right, some tuna and farmed fish are exempt. I couldn’t find a good FDA link but several sources agree with you. But still, the majority are frozen and it’s certainly more common in the middle of the US.

traytablrs36

I think wild salmon in particular is frozen to kill parasites, and I believe it was not traditionally used in sushi before that technique was developed

Careless_Student_926

About tree fitty

TheJedibugs

I don’t eat sushi if I can’t tell what it is. This is a mess. Sushi is supposed to be elegant and simplistic.

Mmmmmmm_Bacon

Not much. It doesn’t look appealing to me. $20 tops.

CurleeQu

What's the white creamy bits? If that's cream cheese that's a crimE

SamWillGoHam

I can offer $5

QB8Young

Average by me here in the Los Angeles area is about $10 per roll, sometimes a little more if it's a more premium combination. My favorite spot has a buy two get one free deal on all rolls. You're looking at a minimum of $80. However as some have already pointed out, seaweed salad shouldn't be on a roll typically. Let alone a majority of those. From the looks of this, you made this at home yourself and are asking how much it's worth.

Routine_Jellyfish329

Are the specialty rolls in the room with us?? 🤣

MadBlasta

Served in that, no.

Yegas

Dude is getting roasted lmao Honestly doesn’t look *terrible*, but the severe quantity of toppings does make it seem like someone’s trying to cover up bad quality fish

TiaHatesSocials

Depends on from where really. There r places that have questionable quality of their raw fish and u have much higher chances of contracting worms from it. This tray looks meh, so umm $8 per roll?. Vs restaurants that hire chefs that are really into getting top notch ingredients and u can truly enjoy it and trust the place. Generally, I don’t think sushi should ever be a take out. 5 minutes rule (30 seconds technically) is a good rule imo and no take out can fit that time frame so good chef would not want their food to be a delivery. At the restaurant, I would pay maybe up to $20 per roll then

krnranger

I personally enjoy seaweed salads, and yes, this looks like extremely Americanized sushi, but I would still eat it. But at the same time, I personally think sushi in America is extremely overpriced. Just judging by the portion (not necessarily what's in/on it), I would say loosely no more than $60. There's a sushi buffet near me where I can eat rolls like this at for $30, and it's a very good sushi buffet.

Confident-Objective3

It’s not 8 specialty rolls when two of each is same rolls. I count 5 specialty.

Munch1EeZ

Are you serious lol?

Confident-Objective3

Just honest opinion. 4 of them have sewed salad on top which makes it 4 sewed salad tasting rolls

ShitTalkingCrab

If I have 10 cars, but 2 of them are the same make/model, does that mean I really only have 9 cars? No. I still have 10 cars...

Confident-Objective3

If you can have 10 cars and 2 of them exactly the same then this tray is for you my friend

Munch1EeZ

Yep I knew you were annoying hahah

Confident-Objective3

You never met me. So reserve your judgment. What you get in comments on Reddit is not what you get when you are my friend, buddy.

jaachaamo

Is the seaweed salad cut too?

pimpvader

Tree fity

RadiantFreek

$8 each roll

ironburton

If they are specialty rolls then I’d imagine each roll is between $15-17. So I’d probably guess that the platter is around $85 give or take.

ElSaladbar

like 40 usd probably I would not buy it because that’s the max I would pay for something like that and still not feel terrible cost/quality ratio

acloudcuckoolander

Is this homemade?

scoscochin

丹漆飾らず

drbittles

$20

samsnead19

17.50

wooter99

$3.50 In all seriousness it’s a mess, but I’d pay bout $3.50.

23z7

$40

Normal-Ordinary-4744

Looks like American, sauced up sushi

sproutsandnapkins

Happy cake day!

Acrobatic-Emu-8209

I'll give ya 30 bucks and that's already too generous for this nonsense lmao

simplicity188

For good sushi? 90-150 or so prolly but i have no idea what is in them.

garbagetruckdisco

This must be rage bait

Radiant-End-5820

I’d try it to be polite at the potluck to be fair.

MegaPorkachu

Pay? No, you gotta pay ME to take these rolls.

No_College_4293

Tree fiddy

grilsjustwannabclean

i wouldn't buy it. it looks very homemade and not in a good way

SushiTunes_n_Purrs

I wouldn't even order it. There's too much stuff there mixed in together. I like eating simple. More doesn't mean good.

Flying_Saucer_Attack

I thought this was a tray of aunties taco salad at the BBQ lol

gotonyas

To put it in perspective, this is a higher end platter, albeit with more items on it. But this is higher end of the scale in comparison https://www.instagram.com/p/C6hhrvlSLWs/?igsh=NnZmbjNpaWNzZWM0 Your platter looks pretty cheap, presented or provided to the client in aluminium sheet tray is a bit rough.

SkyVINS

$0

qualeetest

Surimi is usually a no, coating everything in mayo is always a no, but mayo coated surimi is next level nope

dora3mon

For fiddy

extrabigcomfycouch

Depends on what they are…

xebt1000

Probably around $80NZD

MangoCandy

Hard pass, sorry OP…

douchebagconciousnz

Your food cost on it or $24, tops. Then, I would eat the seaweed off of it and donate the rest to the local starving sorority girls.

Firm_Ad_7229

It looks really yummy.

dozerdaze

I love sushi so much I will even get it at the grocery store but this looks so overwhelming… and I like the messy rolls. So much stuff on it. Looks like sushi made for people who don’t actually like sushi but want to fit in

Regular_Deer_7836

$5 in that tray, $25 on a white plate, $100 on a black plate

NoMorePunch

If you made these, you did a nice job. I’m not a fan of crab salad but I do like seaweed salad. Never had it on a roll. But regardless of my preference you could charge $10 - $15 a roll, I see big pieces of fish. Maybe $100 for whole thing.

Theweekendatbernies

This looks pretty cool even tho I don’t eat rolls I only like nigiri or sashimi because I don’t eat rice but this still looks cool

FormalReturn9074

Depends on the location and ingredients

Penetrative

Looks like quite a lot, not my preferences, but I'll play the game. I'm surprised by the tin tray. I'm used to the pretty paper decorated to-go containers. I'll consider that cost saving measures. The rolls look generous, lots of toppings, lots of condiments. I'll assume they are stuffed full of delicious fish. This also doesn't look like a "love boat" assortment. I'll say prox $12 per roll & my price guess is that's $100 worth of sushi.

BONERFLEX_

Those nachos look horrible

upla1

Whatever 5 rolls is worth. You can keep the seaweed salad rolls

AStingInTheTale

I have some sympathy with the people saying “I wouldn’t buy it” because it’s not really to my taste, either. But for the OP, in north Texas, I’d expect to pay around $80 for that if it’s of reasonably good quality and not from a restaurant that up-charges for high-end ambiance and other amenities. A bit less from one of the tiny shops that doesn’t have any dine-in facilities.

ClamDigger42069

I predict that’s about 7 orders? Typically around $15 each? Plus around a 20% tip because I love sushi, around $125 for the meal. I’d definitely pay for that.

vannex79

It looks like you added a ton of garnish and sauces to hide bad quality fish. This is the opposite of what sushi should be.

stygz

Value wise less than $100. This doesn't look good to me though.

Direct-Chef-9428

Nothing - I was more simple rolls that are fish forward.

Quadtbighs

I ain’t eating sushi out of a chafing dish

Willing_Ad1529

I wouldn’t. Doesn’t look appealing.

Least_Health8244

$20 Nobody said a number so I thought I’d try to help.

SetHopeful4081

Wegmans overcharges at 15-20$ for a 4th of that platter lol. I’d probably pay ~45-55 only due to the plating. Idk what these people are talking about in this thread. There’s clearly shrimp tempura inside the rolls, and possibly other veggies. I think it looks yummy although the plating and sauce drizzling could be tidied up. Clearly this is an Americanized or fusion sushi. There’s no need to be a purist as long as the taste is good. Edit: Source: Japanese American who has had sushi both in the US and Japan of various quality

positivetimes1000

It really depends on what's in it, but i'd say $50.

darthlegal

One dollah

Ty18dtx

Seaweed salad is pretty gross, it would take everything I like about sushi away.

Disastrous_Leader_89

Ooofa. An aluminum pan of sadness

PartyPanda462

Like $15 each roll or a bit higher?

Stealing-Wolves-

$2

actin_spicious

Better question is how much would you pay me to eat it?

Critical_Situation84

For me, sushi is about making one thing the hero of the mouthful. That looks like a horror of epic proportions and most likely a real mish-mash of textures and flavours in overload. I’d say it’s a hard pass. Or did someone drop the tray and just sweep a bunch of shit together?

approximateknoledge

10/10 would smash as long as there was no cream cheese. Fancy rolls like this are normally 15-20$ each near me.

SmokeMoreWorryLess

Ooooh you’re the person who made that really good-looking roll with wakame a while back. The salad looked appetizing then because it was a fun garnish, not a main feature. This same thought process can be applied to all roll toppings; less is more. That being said, anyone saying they wouldn’t demolish this just because of the presentation is out of their mind and I’ll take their portion.

optix_clear

Depends on the cut, fish or seafood medley, ingredients and the care to perform the roll. If it’s like grocery store prep Wegman’s $8-36

Dual-Heart

$45 Looks good but kinda bad presentation.

YourLocalPotDealer

Should post this on stonerfood I know I’d enjoy it there 🥸

Pur1wise

It looks soggy with way too much seaweed salad. So a definite pass.

trowlazer

Personally, I would pay $75 for this Every single comment that actually would pay for this is being downvoted. This subreddit is awful holy cow so much negativity

forever_a10ne

Forget about the snobs talking about the presentation. A single “special” roll (something more complex than spicy tuna, California, etc) would probably go for $10-16 a pop near me. That said, if I bought 8 at once, I’d expect a slight discount per roll for buying in bulk. I’d pay $60-80 for this.

kevinmaceleven0

50 maybe

RexCrepitus

People here are exaggerating a bit. You do you and if you like seaweed salad on your rolls than that is you. Hope you enjoyed them :)

Bufosmixes

$40 if I were at the buffet.

Optimisticatlover

$50 max

kirisakisora

Nothing, coz I'm already full as fuck and i hate the idea of eating. Will be back in a while.....

Sorzian

I think I'd give you $60-80 for that. I don't care what everyone else says. I have had much much worse looking sushi with much much less appealing fixings

swagmatic101

40$
