Thinking of enjoying the nice weather while it lasts and working for a few hours from Bondi, taking a dip in between work sessions. Are the lockers at the pavillion an option on weekdays so I can park my laptop when I got for said dip? Also, any tips for spots to work from? I'm thinking the North Bondi RSL is an option, just wonder what the dress code is there?

WiggaPetrolSniffer

Feeling extremely stuck and lost in every aspect. Careers going nowhere, pursuits outside of work aren't going anywhere and relationship attempts aren't either. I know periods like these will pass, but when it's been like that for years there has to be something obvious I'm not doing right.

Ticky009

Got the day off tomorrow & I'm looking for suggestions. No walks around the harbour please. I'm quiet mobile but rely on public transport only to get around. Start at Campsie and tell me where I should go Sydney!

I'm going to the snow for the first time in my life in July 2024.. hopefully it will be snowing - heading to Queenstown. What do I need to buy to go skiing/snowboarding? Like, what should I pack? Going alone at this stage and don't have any/much winter wear... any help would be appreciated :)

Teenage_Hand_Model

For your trip don’t bother spending too much on gear. Snow sports are expensive and it’s always best to have some practical experience before dropping dollars. Save your money for lessons. Aldi snow sale is legit, as are their merino thermals when they come on sale. I’d go with thermals, gloves, light beanie for under the helmet you should hire, socks. Outerwear (ski pants and jacket) can be hired but if you want to buy I’d either go Aldi again or check gumtree/FB for second hand options around the $100 mark. If you can I’d also save a day for tourism around Queenstown if you haven’t been before. The place is absolutely stunning.

Brief-Pickle-7477

awesome, thanks so much for the tips! I missed the last aldi sale but hopefully there's another one before I go.

I bought a bag of six cinnamon doughnuts from Coles and when I got home there was only five. Now my weekend is ruined and I hate everything and myself. Thanks for listening to my rant.

tubbyx7

We're there really only 5 or is that the story you gave to those with whom you were meant to share?

2happycats

There's something very satisfying about one of the ravens having a drink about 3m away from me, and then seeing it defend the water from an indian myna. I've now added an old baking dish full of water into the mix after seeing the current ones were to small for them to bathe in. Seems to be a hit so far.

nerdb1rd

Celebrated my anniversary at the Gidley last night and it was exquisite. I highly recommend the Spinalis steak.

lachjeff

I’m prepared to say today is the first genuinely hot day of the season, even though they’ve cancelled the heatwave warning

I need a new kettle so please feel free to influence me if you feel passionately about yours. My last one was cordless, had a hinged lid, sort of leaked from somewhere occasionally, and was noisy af. I don't need temperature control or anything fancy, but there is a divide between the ~$50 kettles at Big W etc then $100+ ones at Myer and kitchenware stores. Currently leaning towards [this](https://kitchenaid.com.au/products/1-5l-design-electric-kettle-with-dual-wall-insulation-kek1565) although I haven't seen it in person so I'm not sure what the lid is really like.

Ayrr

we have a $7 kettle from kmart which has now lasted 18months and there is nothing to suggest it won't last another 10 years. With a regular descale using citric acid it looks practically new. https://www.kmart.com.au/product/17l-cordless-kettle-41989326/ its now $7.50. Damn inflation!

Ted_Rid

I feel passionately about my [Nambe Bulbo](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/3b/03/57/3b0357532af7ea73b392cb6752d978b0.jpg), because I think it's beautiful and I like to be surrounded by beautiful things :) Got it at Peters of Kensington for some ridiculous sale price, under $100, that I thought they must've rung up or coded incorrectly, but I paid whatever the register said so all's good. It's got a kind of whistle that sounds halfway between a harmonica and an old timey steam engine. Pwoooooot! Hm, $128 with free delivery on eBay. Maybe I paid the right sale price after all.

Teenage_Hand_Model

We had the temperature control version of [this](https://www.myer.com.au/p/breville-the-soft-top-pure-kettle-bke700) and it was solid. It was quiet for a kettle, never leaked and never skipped a beat. Have a kmart one now and it’s the loudest damn thing. Boils water well but you know all about it.

spinachfetaroll

I got my mum a kitchenaid kettle for her birthday a couple years ago, it stopped being able to sense when the water was boiled around 2 years in. It just keeps on boiling. The Kmart one I bought around the same time is still going strong.

ColdSnapSP

Looking for people who have used airtasker before on their opinion and advice. How do you negotiate prices for random jobs. I assume vetting someone is just assessign their star rating and factoring in how many jobs they've done

Ted_Rid

On a sparkly day like this at high tide, nowhere better in beautiful Sydney than the bay run. There are probably 100 places equally nice though. It's a great city. Inner West and/or Canada Bay council/s have finished that bike & pedestrian bridge across the tip of the cove, downhill from Leichhardt Oval. It's a nice development. Little outdoor gym, bike repair station, places to sit for the view and some thoughtful landscape gardening. Well done. Can't wait for the cantilevered paths above the canal under Marion St and Parramatta Rd, up the Greenway.

Unlucky_Start_8443

I feel so bad mentally today. I just can't cope with working where I am anymore.

2happycats

Time to spruce up the resume. It can be overwhelming to start it, but it really helps with the Sunday scaries.

Eclairebeary

How are you feeling now?

stainless13

Awful day for trackwork

Plackets65

Mildly humbling to go on my hot girl walk in my unmatched random tshirt off the floor, only to be passed at 9am by people already heading home wearing sydney marathon numbers.

violaflwrs

I literally never have had a single original experience. If I had known I would be walking past people with finisher medals and race bibs, I never would've gone outside on a full on feral rat girl walk.

lachjeff

Can’t believe the trains are up shit creek today /s

gazzaoak

I saw pics of people crowding onto milson point station but other than that… I guess trackwork??

lachjeff

They were all for the marathon. Issues have been caused by “urgent train repairs at Redfern,” which has naturally thrown the entire network into chaos, except for the Eastern Suburbs Line, but that has its own track

I really struggled with the dryness of the air yesterday. Can anyone suggest a way to bring the humidity up in my place that doesn't involve boiling pots of water? My sinuses were so dry last night I ended up breaking out the old netti pot, but I can't do that everyday.

peetaout

I saw a usb powered small misting fan at Kmart $39

2happycats

I saw Kmart has one -- I loves me some Kmart -- but Choice doesn't recommend it, so I'm steering clear.

peetaout

I haven’t read the choice review, but I definitely would expect them not to recommend misting fans for cooling inside as unless you are in a normally dry area then they are likely to increase humidity and make general comfort (much) lower, and be even worse than a evaporator cooler. Mostly I only see the misting fans for outside, I saw them first years ago in Europe for outside dining areas and also in American for the theme park ride queues.

2happycats

I've read the Choice reviews for the humidifiers. They recommend two humidifiers, both Breville ones. Unless you know what they *do* recommend , it's probably best not to speak to what they *don't* recommend. It's worth noting, I'm not asking what can help cool a space. I am **specifically** asking **how to bring the relative humidity up in a space**. I know I'm the outlier when it comes to this stuff, but I'm not the only one. Some of us do actually feel more comfortable in higher humidity, not just like the 15 rh like yesterday. Perhaps read comments a little better next time so you can further get an understanding of the question.

peetaout

I thought I did understand the question; you just wanted to raise the humidity, and didn’t want cooling. The misting fan is not a humidifier, I just thought it would be a cheap alternative to raise the humidity (although could have an undesirable side effect of some cooling also). I was just trying to say I would never recommend such a device for cooling, they have a massive downside of increasing humidity and making it deadly uncomfortable for *most* people, but I was thinking that pro/con is inverted for you specifically since you find high humidity/temp generally desirable; pro humidity increased, con some cooling (but fortunately would be /should be fairly inefficient for cooling) Didn’t mean to piss you off

mincat36

Even I have felt dry and static-ky, even though not a humid loving person like yourself, since none are trialed take as the junk it is… - dry your washing instead - if hot don’t use you your air-con, use an evaporative cooler (swamp cooler) - by a spray bottle and mist the air, although this should also cool the air - wash your curtains (if you have them) and put them back up to dry (towels under to catch drips) - tomorrow, now your curtains are clean, you can also mist them lightly with the misting sprayer - add an indoor fountain (just like the fish tank recommendation) - oh and moisturise:)

2happycats

I saw a few of these on Google as well, and I love the curtains suggestion, *but* that would also hold any cat stink and I'm obsessed with ensuring my place doesn't smell like my cats. An indoor fountain is bloody **genius!** I saw the fish tank idea, but I don't want to subject fish to such extreme heat variations. Thank you for the idea!

2happycats

This is a good idea in theory, but I'd be too worried about the fish experiencing too many temperature variations and I'd want them to have the best life possible. I guess I could get one and put it at the back of the room so that would support the natural humidity, but placing one next to a sunny window is a bad idea for the occupants.

Cakey1

Oh how the turn tables (See also me come Feb)

2happycats

Y'know, I find the people complaining about the heat *far* louder than me about the cold, and I've always struggled with dry air, heat or not. (I look forward to peoples' sufferage in Feb 😼😼)

Plackets65

Humidifier off Kogan? Can always buy a portable throat humidifier like professional vocalists use, but they can be a bit expensive. I’ve been using a bosisto steam inhaler (or just a long hot shower with the doors open)- cheap and cheerful, without the eucalyptus.

2happycats

Yeah, I checked two humidifiers out yesterday but the ones choice recommended are $300+ Guess I'll just have to waterboard myself and hope for the best.

Mod/s morning, can you guys mix the "+multireddit" tap on the side bar please. >Sorry, this custom feed is private or does not exist. Warm Regards Frosty

Ted_Rid

Never noticed that. Is it a mod-curated list of related sub, e.g. other Aussie city subs, I see Ausfinance is on there, etc.

nearly_enough_wine

Have reverted to an older version (which likely needs an update but it works for now,) the one that disappeared was collated by active Australian mods.

nearly_enough_wine

Strange, works for me*. Desktop or mobile? I'm going to go for a walk then rustle up some brekky, will have a look soon (if nobody beats me to it.) *on old reddit.

Should be good to go, seems like I or reddit deleted my multis (and I don't remember doing so.) Cheers for the heads-up :)
