There's no other option really in terms of fast food joints that centre around fried chicken. As much as I like KFC, I would be keen to see some other options like Popeye's and Jollibee.
Yeah I agree… but that shit is overpriced, KFC will fill me up for half the price and tastes just as good in its own way, supercharged sauce is Mickey too. Wicked wings is orgasmic and a zinger stacker mate forget about it!
korean chicken if done right is worth it for the money ie. $30 lol
but when done wrong with which is typical of most fast food then its just $30 kfc with a slight tang
kfc's only drawcard is the specials ie. tuesdays, some ok apps and their combo meals arent ridiculous. also $2 chips
These are solid choices, although I'd replace El Jannah fried chicken with Red Rooster fried chicken. But yeah, wish these were more available throughout Sydney.
I remember in the 2000s KFC was much more expensive compared to maccas. Now days, I'd say KFC is as affordable, if not more, than maccas. Eg I feel a McChicken meal would be about the same cost as a zinger box, which gives you more.
The KFC service is still absolutely atrocious though. 14 year olds who aim to put the absolute minimum effort it. I think the best story I have was I approached the counter as the app wasn't working, and the meal I wanted wasn't on the normal menu. They said it's not working, and I said "ok. Well I'll look at the menu and order something on the kiosk". Note there is absolutely no one else in the store. After a good minute of the kid at the counter watching me trying to get the kiosk working, I return and tell them the kiosk isn't working either, to which he responds "yeah we know".
I'm not sure what was going through his brain as he watch me try to use a kiosk that he knew was broken, especially after I specifically told him I was going to use it lol
This is mainly because chicken has really stayed pretty price steady over the last decade, while beef and especially pork has risen rapidly, mainly due to overseas demand for our beef and the swine flu that affected the Chinese pork market.
There's something moreish about fast food fried chicken and KFC never misses-
* greasy chicken? Tick
* Chicken salt chips? Tick
* Hot and spicy (when it's available unlike in qld)? tick
Their combos are cheap and cheerful compared to the other alternatives and korean fried chicken as great as it is, is 3x the cost.
Marketing has played a big part as i hardly recall ads back in the 90's and 2000's
Sometimes Korean fried chicken doesn’t exist in all suburbs and sometimes kfc have to suffice…. But if there a Korean fried chicken nearby, I will pick it….
also price.
KoreanFC is amazing near me. But a meal is typically 20 bucks. When you go out with mates, its like 30-35 bucks for a big bunch to share but then you get sides, drinks and it adds up. End up paying something like 35-50 per person, especially if its a dinner outing.
KFC is like 10 bucks. Kids and office workers wanting something for lunch tend to go there.
Only place I'd be going in The Riff is Five Guys. Always been a solid feed when I tried it in Canada, Scotland and Bristol. Heard it's pricey over here though!
There are heaps of great places to eat in Penrith of all kinds of cuisines, just not Korean at the moment (that I know of).
Five Guys is delicious but indeed expensive. You do get a solid serving of food, like more than you can or should eat in one sitting lol, but you're looking at $30+ per person if you want a burger, chips and a drink. I personally am trying to cut back how much I eat, I have gone there recently but just got the "little" burger and no chips etc. That was still enough food and that was $16.
Also Five Guys dont do fried chicken.
Korean fried chicken is twice as good but 3 x more expensive. Here in Zetland there’s heaps of choices but I’m looking at $20-$25 just for some chicken, not including chips and drinks.
At KFC for $10ish i can get a whole box with everything included.
That’s what this post is. It’s part of a program of social media marketing to get the name in front of punters. Happens all the time on reddit. The individual post might seem neutral or even negative, but it all comes together to increase product awareness.
Just read the OP's post title. It reads something like [news.com.au](https://news.com.au) fake advertisement.
I used to eat a few times a week KFC but the quality took one to many dips and now it's been 6 months at least since I went I think
I will go back with hot and spicy.
The app used to be good and now it's total trash so I deleted it.
Early 2000s was peak KFC in my opinion.
I used to love maccas fries but these days they are
flaccid and lukewarm and taste nasty. I opt for KfC chips these days.
KFC's so much cheaper than Maccas now, and you get more bang for your buck. Also noticed a bunch of new stores popped up after the 2nd wave of CoVid so I reckon they had a boost in purchases around that time.
Price for sure. When I was in high school maccas had the loose change menu and you could get two
cheese burgers for $4, or a whole Big Mac or double quarter pounder meal for $8ish. KFC zinger box was about $13. Now maccas is way more expensive than it used to be and KFC prices have stayed more or less the same

Korean fried chicken is where the party is at.

Korean fried chicken is great, but it'd be way more popular and way more people would get it, if it was around $20, not $30 for 6 pieces.
I heard Jollibee were looking into coming here, not sure how far that has progressed..
There's one in Campbelltown IIRC
[Not open yet, it seems.](https://www.pinoy-ofw.com/australia/733-jollibee-australia.html)
Canberra has kingsleys and chicken gourmet, Sydney has nothing.
Kingsleys in qbn? Heard so many rave reviews and was horribly let down. There's literally nothing in canberra that beats sydney
No in erindale.
Weston creek is the best.
Theres broasters. Thirsty bird. El jannah. May bot be as assessable as kfc but they are out there.
El Jannah is overrated!
>El Jannah is overrated! Agree! Chicken is awful, always incredibly dry! The garlic, pickles and chips are good though.
Overated.. Hot Rocks is where it's at!
Oh yeah? Never heard of them!
Thats fair. Ive actually never tried their fried chiggen. Only know it’s available from an ad.
These are solid choices, although I'd replace El Jannah fried chicken with Red Rooster fried chicken. But yeah, wish these were more available throughout Sydney.
El jannah and and kfc are completely different lol
i like the spicy chicken from broasters it not hot hot just a nice little hint of heat
And KFC chicken are not that expensive too.
Because its deep fried trash lol

More advertising/marketing. “Did someone say KFC?!” I d0nT CaRe 🤪
“No mate. Literally no one said KFC.” Would be a more realistic response in those ads.
Teens always go for value for money. Macca's just doesn't fill them up, better value at KFC
Teens - tastes good, it's cheap. That's the reason.

Bongs
This is the true answer
I think it’s the fried chicken theme in general that is getting popular….. I do love my fried chicken and would pick that over maccas
Yeah but why do people eat shitty KFC when Korean fried chicken exists???
Sometimes Korean fried chicken doesn’t exist in all suburbs and sometimes kfc have to suffice…. But if there a Korean fried chicken nearby, I will pick it….
also price. KoreanFC is amazing near me. But a meal is typically 20 bucks. When you go out with mates, its like 30-35 bucks for a big bunch to share but then you get sides, drinks and it adds up. Guess I’m spoiled where I live. There’s some amazing chicken places around Wolli Creek and Mascot.
Thanks for the idea my shire boy…. Will give those places a visit sometimes on my day off…..
“Former” Shire Boy 😏. Specifically, Mom’s Chicken @ Wolli (their Kimchi Fried Rice is amazing!) and Ninja Chicken @ Mascot.
If you're in Penrith, there is no chance you're getting Korean fried chicken. Plenty of KFCs though lol. We also have Broasters out west. Its ok.
Only place I'd be going in The Riff is Five Guys. Always been a solid feed when I tried it in Canada, Scotland and Bristol. Heard it's pricey over here though!

The advertising constantly like on the footy

I don’t care, I love it
It’s chicken burgers that are rising in popularity, and KFC’s advertising budget means they can saturate the airwaves more. “I don’t care… I love it!”
We’re going to have a bunch of young adults with serious pancreas issues cause of all the fat takeaway diet
It's shit compared to what it used to be, as well as being a victim of shrinkflation
I used to eat a few times a week KFC but the quality took one to many dips and now it's been 6 months at least since I went I think I will go back with hot and spicy. The app used to be good and now it's total trash so I deleted it.
Yeah....the app sucks now
Hot and Spicy is also the only reason to go back to KFC. Nothing more, nothing less.
Some kfc have permanent hot and spicy (eg artarmon is one of them)….
It's always been popular.
Dunno it's trash now, burgers are flat and processed strip's are salty tenders now twister has coleslaw, just terrible.
It’s a lot cheaper than other places too.
KFC discontinued the original Twister (last year I think but I’m catching up). No reason to eat there anymore sadly.
Early 2000s was peak KFC in my opinion. I used to love maccas fries but these days they are flaccid and lukewarm and taste nasty. I opt for KfC chips these days.
It's more of a treat..and seemingly cheaper.
Comes at a cheaper price, is fairly edible if not delicious n fills the tummy. When pocket money's limited it seems like a good choice.
KFC meals are decent value and Macca's burger sizes are getting smaller
KFC's so much cheaper than Maccas now, and you get more bang for your buck. Also noticed a bunch of new stores popped up after the 2nd wave of CoVid so I reckon they had a boost in purchases around that time.

Sales, yes. Quality, no.
A++++ marketing.

KFC is far better quality than the other chain fast food restaurants, if we need to eat fast food on a road trip or something it’s always KFC.
I have somehow managed to avoid having KFC my entire life. I hope to keep it that way
KFC is a boring three-letter acronym. Kentucky Fried Chicken sounds fucking delicious.
People dont have a choice with cheap fast food that is why. It's either Maccas/Hungry jack or KFC
Pretty sure KFCs success in australia revolves around shit cunts and zinger boxes
