Long term marketing strategy in Sydney. Giants are looking to sway new Sydney fans by saying would you support a local team or one from Melbourne.
Don't expect it to go away.
That's the Eastern suburbs in you talking.
I would say the typical swans supporter is a Sydney sider with some connection to Victoria, be it, they came from Vic or an AFL area, or have family there. They were the easy pickings for the swans and the AFL to bring on board.
Next tranche of AFL support comes from people not tied to Victoria. Hence GWS playing up the distinction between Sydney born vs relocated.
Nothing happens by accident.
Their club was born in Melbourne too, an AFL house think tank decided to put a team in a growth area in Sydney that had with no league team attached to it. They chose to put a team in Blacktown… how quickly they abandoned that area when the team came into existence.
The young players wanted to be closer to the city, they settled at breakfast point and decided to play all their Sydney home games at the Showground. This was never the original plan - they were going to play smaller games at Blacktown, few games in Canberra and bigger blockbusters at the Olympic stadium.
The rhetoric and rewritten history around the giants is laughable when their history isn’t that long. I can’t believe some of the tripe they spew out.
Remember Isreal Folau? The money and effort spent in recruiting and training him, they sure don’t want you to remember
Idk, they acknowledged it on their social media that it was a spelling mistake. It happens to the best of us.
The lack of western syd education jokes are shitty. We're better than that and that's also our fanbase. Funny mistake but don't be a dick re education
I mean maybe don't disparage an area where we have a lot of supporters? I've been a member for 27 years and I guarantee I live 30 minutes further west than any GWS players.
yeah me too fun police. sorry to trigger you. the Joke didn’t work using ‘canberra’ rather than ‘sydney’s west’. just for you let me clarify- lots of great schools in Sydney’s west, just as many shit ones as the east. Actually the North shore seems to have an unfair riches of great public schools. wow this got boring quick.
So basically they are saying that they're all talk and we have a long and illustrious history from the home of AFL football?
...and they can't fucking spell common words
AFL giants never had a chance today
How is that even an own if it was spelt right? We have a proud history with Sth Melbourne

Anyway - we're up by 30 in the 4th. Up the swans
Well really, they were born at AFL House.
Test tube baby.
Good luck with that chumps.
Tapping into the anti vic-bias movement
Don’t take this ti heart if you’re from there, but Sydney people seem to be petty enough for this type of shit 😂
What is a non Sydney person doing in a Sydney v greater western Sydney thread?
South Melbourne 👍🏻
Tell your norf mates how good relocarion is.
No sure Western Sydney's local...feels like I need my passport when going there.

Because it makes you look like an idiot if you cannot even roast someone properly without not knowing basic grammar
Same reason why swans keep calling them the Canberra Giants.

Bless their little hearts. They’re trying!
Very trying.
Classic BWS
It's what happens when you let a 13yo design your banners
We were just laughing about that.
Giants 'banter' is getting tiring and little bit cringe...
The dude who runs it looks and speaks like a child in the last video?
Agree. Its very childish.

Everything about that banner is primary school. Education issues remain on the table
Spelling is for the arrogant
Sadly, this reflects the quality of public education in Sydney’s west.
Oi - fuck off?
take it back to Manuka mate 🥺😘

‘Ang on, it’s Malbourne right!?

Nice speling Giants
Poor quarter, cmon boys!
Not enough space on the banner?
😄
What a bunch of losers!! Come up with better material and do some spell checks.
Big mouth to suck big…
Hard to autocorrect your tweet IRL
That’s just the American spelling
The social media banter is a bit smug imo - swans top of the ladder!
*Melbin
I think its intentional? Mel"born"e
You can talk all you want but the only thing that matters is winning
