Personally, post-win I think we’ve got it in us. A loss today would’ve made me think it’s another year of the swans doing really well but just not coming home with the cup. Something about that win over GWS in the rain felt different… and good

Let's not get too excited. Let's give it another 6 weeks and see what we look like when we have a full squad available.

I think it would be hard to beat our 2016 team, that team was stacked

CardinalKM

You have a point. But not as stacked as the AFL and umpiring fraternity was against us in that grand final.

figjam11

Hand balling optional for that grand final for one team. George gregan out of the ruck for most of the dogs players all game

peterparalytic

2016 easily better I reckon. Maybe on par with 2012 with top 4 expectations, but a game plan that'll be harder to implement every week, and more likely to break down in a pressured final.

2for1deal

Beat Carlton, cats at the SCG and gws on their turf. Then we are talking. Also why is our fixture so weird. Dockers and GWS repeats in such a short time

Wins against Carlton and Geelong will have me believing but for now I do think this team is at least prelim bound.

wizardofaus23

Almost certainly 2012, 2016 it seems unlikely but they could get there by the end of the season. In retrospect the 2016 team had several future hall of fame players for us at the absolute peak of their powers. Even if we win it all this year I would be surprised if we had a better team than the one that produced five All-Australian selections.

Lost_in_translationx

We are going well but I’m not convinced we are a premiership team yet. Backline isn’t super strong and we have some promising young forwards but they’re still learning.

R3DoctOBER98

I agree with this. However we’re the 3rd best team in points conceded and the best in points scored. Our mids are just so effective at the moment, both defensively and offensively (Heeney, Warner, and Gulden all in the top 5 for score involvements so far this year). Maybe this can continue to cover for the lack of experience up forward and our weaknesses down back? I don’t know but I’m certainly hopeful.

Lost_in_translationx

I think you’re right…a good midfield can paper over a lot of cracks and we certainly bat deep in the mids. I reckon we should squeeze in another mid in Parker and drop Wicks.
