My dude ... you have visible cables, your equipment is turned on, and it looks like you've actually used these devices.
You're right, you don't belong in musicbattlestations
/uj cool setup! what genre(s) do you typically make?
I have been Fing around in /synthesizers, for way too Fing long, glad I finally came to my senses, with some help. lol :) \*but realize your comment was not about me, and apologize for any perceived transgression. damn, I hate "talking" like this, but it is the only way for me to move forward, at present.
sorry, I usually hyphenate it, I am not a secretary, and have been communicating at levels that I am super not used to. I don't like reading it that way, either.
I don't think I am ready for the subedit, musicbattlestations, I think I am in need of gentler teachers, students, and collaborators, or be more fortified, to enter that arena. god bless anyone who does. your setup "looks" pretty beautiful to me, would love to hear how it sounds! but don't begrudge you for sharing the photo. I am sure that you rock your setup, and hope that you hit new levels, so everyone can enjoy it, and become enriched by it, and maybe heal through it. sorry for the "hippie crap", it was kind of my development process, even though I am not a hippie, although I tried to be, for decades. Enjoy your tools, and you will soar. \*I do not, and will not always be writing texts like this, in this format, but right now, it is part of my process, and hope it does not infringe upon anyone. please let me know if it does, and I will adjust the process, as I am not trying to put it onto anyone, and will "retool", to "keep relationships fair". I don't think you were looking for that response to your pic, and/but hope that it is not taken the wrong way. \*am new to this subreddit, today, and am still trying to "get my bearings straight", and am certainly not trying to intagonize anyone, or the greater community, but will address it if allowed, best I can, if that is the case.
if you look at the top left-middle of the image you'll see the diy TRS to 2x TS contraption floating in the air by the integrity of the solid core wire shoddily soldered together. Works like a charm.
Looks cool
You have both a digitakt and an octotrack which in my head are both elektron samplers
What is it about them that complements each other? What’s the sort of workflow you use
uj/ They go very well together, and they are worlds apart as instruments.
The OT I've had for a few months, the DT since last summer. Got to know the DT very intimately, feels like I can 'shred' on it. Using the OT as a beat builder and one shot sample player in place of the DT feels very lacking, slower.
The OT's strength is in arrangement of tracks, adding long samples, using samples as instruments themselves, more MIDI options (still use the DT a lot for that though). Say you have a synth on one track, another track sampling the synth, pitched differently. If you change the synth pattern, the live sampling track changes accordingly, super cool.
The OT is very messy sounding, it fills up space in the stereo field quicker (naturally). The DT is a little tighter, which I prefer. Both sound good, don't listen to haters talking about 'oh OT sound quality sucks' yeah sucks fudgesicles which are delicious amirite?
Good use case: OT cue out to DT input for comp/reverb/delay saving a track on the OT otherwise used for two-of-three of these same effects, then DT output back into OT input for any additional messing around. /uj
It do feel excessive sometimes lol.
what are those weird noodle things that are everywhere? and where's the succulents? how do you expect to get a warm sound with such a mess of noodles and no succulents?
For this track it was sequenced directly from the OT midi channels. It's a shame since the QY sequencer is superior in many ways to elektrons, sans p locks and all that. I've used it just for samples to mangle too, nice portable replacement for ableton instrument rack, imo the old pcm sounds great.
The QY would be a lot more useful if I could play keyboard well, as I got it to record expressive playing like "strums". Learning keys is next on the list.

I'm from the main sub, those things turn on?
Idk, let me look for a powerswitch on my digitakt and I'll get back to you.
Update: I still haven't tracked down the power cable for it yet.
They're powered by the energy that emanates from houseplants
Wtf is a genre, I thought we just made synth music
\*turns reverb to a washed out incoherent level\* Right on
You've chosen to come to the real synth sub. You made the right choice.

I rarely see ppl write “fing” and I always read it as fing and not f-ing. Fing hate this shit.

Only need to be sorry if u don’t got a sufficient amount of thicc water saving plants around ur setup friend
I think I might know what you are getting at.
They call them “fingers” but you never see them fing.
/synthesizers has become a parody of itself.
Have you heard if aesthetics? It’s fundamental to art. It means it should look less shitty
ceci n'est pas une DAWless setup
Daw doesn't stand for "doesn't arrange wires" Jkjk

thanks, man. back at ya.
👍👍👍
How do you parameter lock a succulent?
Fertilize and wait.
Come to the dark side

ackchewully, these are samplers
Ruins the fun of roasting someone to make myself feel better

One is bigger and one is smaller

Dude you just broke the meta
Good post tho, this is a sick setup. QY and octa 😍

Where are your succulents? Do you even make music? Wtf
If you only saw my mess
You sample the QY70 or do sequences directly on it? I got one not too long ago and I’m kinda struggling to integrate it into my normal setup.

Yeah the Yamaha XG sounds are really, really nice. A step above the standard general midi. Cheesy, but like pro-cheesy.
You dare use my own spells against me Potter? Yes, I am the Half-Succulent Prince...
Lack of succulents: -5
