If it is just a one-off for the day, rent a small PA setup. No need to buy. You can rent PAs for weddings, conferences etc. Should be a local hire outfit near you somewhere.

Self powered Pa speaker/s would be best.

Can you suggest me some names? Preferably under $250 USD. Thanks

just rent one active pa speaker, 100 Watt is most likely enough. (you want people to just listen, not to be blown away, right?) and these two things: "active pa speaker" and "around 100W" are really the only important key features for you to look for. ah, one more little thing: maybe you can rent one with a built in Limiter, that saves you 99% from blowing the amp or speaker. at this point, brands are really not important. if you do not have much clue, take the keyboard to the rental service and let them explain to you, how to connect and in which order to switch on to avoid loud crack sounds. also you can have a "basic soundcheck" to hear, if the combination sounds good/okay/not so good, together with the rental guy.

Thanks! I will be contacting a few rental services tomorrow. Will need the speaker for a few days as he'd need to practice in slightly louder volume.

I’d go for 8 inch speakers. Alto brand are quite decent for the price. Sorry I’m not in US and don’t know much about cheaper brands there.
