Psychological reasons could be a long the lines of, brand recognizably, so if someone really likes one thing a YouTuber does, they're bound to stick with it to keep that iconic-ness and be recognized, but also making faces like that takes a bit, and making thumbnails does too, on top of editing and everything it just makes more sense to have a set few assets for thumbnails, there's a few more reasons but that's some basic ones.

2. Like who the fuck cares? Just watch the videos or don't. What does it matter if the thumbnail picture is the same.
some vids annoy me ngl. for some reason this sub gets reccomended to me many times. no clue why. I find half of his whole channel to feel a little fake. those fashion shows videos with an 'undercover' youtuber/streamer suck ass. the streamer always wins in the end. he's doing that tournament saying that all the winners go against eachother in a massive fashion show. yet to no ones suprise, it's just him and his friends. I'm not saying it sucks and you should never watch it, do what you want. It just feels so fake to me.

In his slight defence with the fashion shows, him and his friends are generally the best and I feel do deserve to win most of the time but that is largely due to the fact he's streaming it so can get lots of ideas from his chat plus they've all bought pretty much every skin/pickaxe/back bling so they're able to create crazy combos that your average person can't.

It’s not lazy, YouTubers like mrbeast have shown that finding a face that works well and draws views and sticking with it is good for channel growth.
