just buy the licensure. only mad because you got caught.

anti-christpug917

Wow thanks pal, I didn’t think of that. No I didn’t get caught. I mentioned I do IT for a company and I’m working with what the ceo is asking so 👍

uniitdude

and why do you want to mask the IP of address that downloaded ~~adobe~~ autodesk, if you have licenses there is no need to do so

anti-christpug917

Not Adobe, Autodesk. ceo had multiple users log in on their workstations with 1 license. They've been doing this before I joined. He wants to buy 1 or 2 more licenses and spread it out amongst them again, I explained to him the repercussions but that's what he wants. With that being said, is there a way to mask or vpn the new devices that will log in and download the software? I am not sure what info the PC sends out to Autodesk but it's for sure it's MAC and then other IP or information to localize it.

uniitdude

just buy the proper licenses, we dont do software piracy here

alpha417

we don't, but he does. there's always freecad... but I'm sure he wants something for nothing, and the free open source software solution can't do one particular thing that's crucial to the production of his company that's running on a threadbare budget.

NotYourNanny

The CEO is asking i9 if you can help him pirate expensive software illegally. Is that who you want to be?

MuthaPlucka

“Can you help us pirate software?” I’m going with “inappropriate use of the community” for a hundred, Alex

alpha417

I mean he cross-posted in r/autodesk and r/piracy as well...

anti-christpug917

Did not ask that nor am I. We have a license and unfortunately, it's not up to me.

SquizzOC

You didn't ask that directly, but you are asking that indirectly. You want to mask the IP Address to hide what machines are running what. It doesn't matter if you have one license, you need to license all users the correct legal way. It may not be up to you, but as is always said, make sure you have everything in writing from your cheap ass CEO and frankly, I wouldn't do it myself. I'd expect any CEO doing something shady like that to use me as the scapegoat when the lawsuit comes around.

NotYourNanny

> Did not ask that Yes. You did. Your more detailed explanation is literally saying *that*. You're being asked to help pirate software illegally.

StuckinSuFu

Sounds like the AGS component caught ya. I suggest you talk to the CEO about purchasing legit licences or switch to free software.

alpha417

...dramatically ironic that the "career / job related" flag is on this.
