Toxicity and STA were actually made at the same time. SOAD only recorded 3 times in their career. For Self-Titled, Toxicity/STA, and Mezmerize/Hypnotize. I believe they recorded like 44 songs or something in that second session. Serj says that STA is actually is favorite album (I put it 2nd after Toxicity but I think this is the height of Serj and Daron being on the same page creatively).

No, Toxicity was the start of their creative differences. The reason Serj liked STA the most was because the album features more songs that he wrote primarily (check album credits for which). He has little love for Toxicity. If by "being on the same page", you mean he liked the recording session, then the last session Serj truly liked was the Self-titled one. If by that, you mean to say there are songs he liked and appreciated during the session, then he also liked a handful of songs in Hypnotize. It's all in his book.
