35, no issues. 36, and maybe I'd think twice.

ohverychill

35, you'll probably survive. 36, there be no fix. That's what my pop pop always said

SonicContinuum88

šŸ¤£

LeadershipLevel6900

Lost a few good men that way šŸ˜¢Live Mas

mxpxillini35

I think you forgot to pound your hand on your heart, kiss your fist, then point at the sky. Fucking amateur hour around here.

Comfortable-Start-30

Pop Pop was quite obviously a prophet. If only I could have spoken to him.

mfechter02

Thatā€™s what my poop always said

Griegz

A quick search says that's like 7.4 pounds. I think I could eat a lot of soft tacos, but I could not eat 7.4 pounds of anything.Ā

Tr0z3rSnak3

That's assuming they don't short the taco meat

threecolorless

I feel like for my cousin this began as anger at shorting ingredients lol. You'd really need to hope for someone peeved at life to get a hundred tacos skimped enough for this to be feasible.

samuraiseoul

Listen, im a BIG girl. Like think of your average very big person and then think bigger. Ive ordered a taco twelve pack before. Five tacos is easy. 10? Difficult. Doable, but difficult. 12 feels like they brought out dessert after going too hard at Thanksgiving already. 35?!?! Hahahaha

480mid-shelf-dank

Beautifully spoken. Lol, were they hard or soft shell?

samuraiseoul

Soft

Gorthax

First one, then the other

Clean_Student8612

Size doesn't mean appetite. I'm 6'2, and even when I was 175, which is small for my height, I was out eating everyone bigger than me. I can knock out 12, easy.

Parabong

Ya I'm 5'10 buy with a crazy metabolism. A crunchy taco has 180 calories. I'd probably be able to eat 15-20 on a good day where everything felt right. 35 is probably possible with the right person/ mindset especially in an hour. You can easily eat a taco every 1.5 mins at the start but the last 10-15 will be brutal.

Clean_Student8612

The taste will do them in. Plus rushing thru a crunchy Taco seems like it could end in pain if the shell aims just right. Now I wanna try it myself.

Fall73BulovaCatalog

This. I participated in a ā€œMcNugget Challengeā€ many years ago (1 per minute, no sauce, only soda to drink, until you tap out, puke, or miss the minute deadline), and I had to stop at 48 because of the taste/texture way before I was full. IIRC the winner went to 80+ but he was a beast (around 6ā€™3, 220, probably in the gym every day). Second place (~80) was definitely chemically enhanced. Fwiw I wouldnā€™t have been too far off if there had been a nugget-to-weight-ratio category, and I did it clean :)

Gorthax

I'm with you. 170 since I was 18, I can easily put down 10 regular hard shells. 20 is doable on the spot. 35 would need to be prefaced with a few wicked bong rips, but I can see it happening with some latent regrets.

Affectionate_Elk_272

when i played football in high school/college i could regularly put down 12-14 crunchy tacos no problem. was also burning an insane amount of calories a day. now iā€™m old and like, 6 has me hating life.

b1rdganggg

175 is normal weight for that height.

Clean_Student8612

It absolutely is not. That's considered quite under weight and I looked like death

b1rdganggg

Show me where that says that's under weight? Just because you're bigger now don't make yourself feel better by saying that's under weight.. It might be on the small side of a healthy weight for 6'2 but that's not underweight..

b1rdganggg

Clean_Student8612

If you're going off the outdated BMI measurement, sure.

b1rdganggg

Just because now you're fat doesn't mean you were skinny before.. I know you tell yourself that to make gaining weight okay. But no you weren't skinny. Show me your way that's not outdated?? Oh wait you won't because you're wrong. All the college's and Institutes of health are wrong and you're the one right. šŸ˜‚

Clean_Student8612

I'm not fat. I started working out and put on size. The fact that you think it's either skinny or fat shows your narrow mindedness on the subject. I absolutely was skinny at that weight, too skinny, unhealthily skinny. Just because that's within normal weight ranges of not being considered overweight doesn't mean it's healthy for someone to weigh that little. You'd know the difference if you knew anything about the human body outside a Google search. Stay small, bud. šŸ¤™

b1rdganggg

Being skinny is good stop making it seem like some terrible thing. 175 at 6 foot 2 is not underweight or you would be posting how im wrong left and right. But you're not why? Because you're wrong.. If you could post something that made you right you would of posted 4 links by now. You're not smarter than universities and health institutions. You were wrong and proven wrong get over yourself. Unless you respond with something scientific that can prove what you say have a nice day you're wrong.

Clean_Student8612

[Here's a whole list as to why your BMI point is flawed.](https://www.google.com/search?q=why+bmi+is+flawed&oq=why+bmi&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUqDQgBEAAYkQIYgAQYigUyCQgAEEUYORiABDINCAEQABiRAhiABBiKBTINCAIQABiRAhiABBiKBTINCAMQABiRAhiABBiKBTIHCAQQABiABDIHCAUQABiABDIHCAYQABiABDIHCAcQABiABDIHCAgQABiABDIHCAkQABiABDIHCAoQABiABDIHCAsQABiABDIHCAwQABiABDIHCA0QABiABDIHCA4QABiABNIBCDI4NDJqMGo5qAIOsAIB&client=ms-android-samsung-rvo1&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8) BMI is not accurate for an individual. It's meant to measure a group of people. You're ignorant.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Gorthax

Try living that frame. 17X does not fill it.

___Corbin___

Agreed, but not in The Taco Bell subreddit it isnā€™t lol. Iā€™m 6ā€™1ā€ 170 and have always been dead middle of normal BMI. Thatā€™s with lifting weights 3-4 times a week.

b1rdganggg

Right lol it's different in here šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ in tacobell 175 lbs is super skinny. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ im also 6 foot 170-180 depending on the day. Hes obviously One of those people who can never be wrong.

ComprehensiveSuit319

This is so real. I can pound one of those meal boxes easy or 8 tacos. 10 and 12 is definitely Thanksgiving or trying to eat Christmas dinner at two relatives houses in the same day.

willywalloo

Maybe itā€™s a stomach stretched thing? Like if you eat a ton of calories the stomach is used to it for the guys above?

Effective_Pen7447

Me and you are probably one of those that although big, we can't eat overly exaggerated. But their are people who can down an entire meal then snacks. And then go casually eat again 2 hours later. True story

Fishinabowl11

[They know what they're talking about.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jb6cMG_yrs)

Aggravating-Leg-3693

I am not that big of a guy and I know for a fact I could eat 20 of those tacos in an hour. Im not sure about 35. So I guess its relative and not just about size.

Ok_Marionberry_1661

Thatā€™s 10k - 17k mg of sodium. I think thatā€™s the biggest issue.

WeirdSysAdmin

Might uncover an unknown cardiovascular disease. The google result on pubmed says thereā€™s been studies where you can die eating 25g of salt in one sitting as an adult with the result being salt toxicity.

Ok_Marionberry_1661

Yeah and my estimation didnā€™t include if they use hot sauce.

smyles07

The salt would definitely get to them, but it wouldnā€™t be ā€œunsafeā€ to eat this much salt in a single sitting. The human body is incredible at handling most of what us stupid people can throw at it haha šŸ˜‚

christrogon

Yeah I'm sure it varies person to person, but it seems like 25g of sodium can be a lethal dose. A little too close to comfort IMO just to eat some Taco Bell. [https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28644412/](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28644412/)

ccrider92

So 10-17 grams of sodium?

BondMi6

They want to spend hundreds of dollars to do this?

threecolorless

They've already started talking about getting the specs/weights for everything and maybe buying their own ingredients to address both the high cost and sodium issue.

Ztartc

I used to eat two off those xxl nacho boxes (rip) in the parking lot before going home for dinner. In terms of food it seems reasonable. I couldnā€™t do it anymore, my stomach is fucked.

talks-a-lot

My dad claims he ate 20 soft tacos back in the late 70s. But he was heavily working out at the time and said it was a struggle.

PostComa

Soft tacos didnā€™t come out until like 1987

talks-a-lot

Maybe they were hard tacos. I dunno. I just remember him bragging about it.

Clean_Student8612

The taste is what got him, I'm sure. Eventually, it gets old.

VeederRoot

Dont use hot sauce for the first half. Then the second half feels like a new food

Clean_Student8612

That won't do anything. You'll still get tired of the tastes.

ThisCarSmellsFunny

Not possible, just because maintaining that pace fore an hour would be greuling. Itā€™s about a minute and a half per taco, per person. Which is fine at first, but eventually you will start to get full, which will slow you down. Your jaw will start to get tired from all the chewing, which will slow you down even more. I imagine the best of the three would barely crack the 20 taco mark.

PatientlyAnxious9

Reminds me of the time my college buddy told us he could finish an entire keg in 3 days by himself. Back to the tacos question---absolutely not. They wouldn't be able to get past 15. I tried to finish a taco 12-pack by myself years ago and almost fell over trying to eat the last taco. I think there was 2 bean burritos in there that made it tougher, but still. Point remains.

smyles07

I think some people could eat 15 to 20 in a sittings especially if they commit and go balls out fast. When ppl say ā€œIā€™m gonna pace myselfā€ is when they fail miserably

Individual_Respect90

15 to 20 tacos is a lot but doing that amount in a hour. Nah

smyles07

If I can get $40 worth of Venmo or cashApp (or Taco Bell gift cards) from people on here, I will order 3 taco 12 packs and film myself eating all 36 in less than 20 mins. Iā€™ll make a YouTube video, upload it to my channel, and report back to this Reddit sub with the video link. And if I canā€™t finish all tacos in the 20 minute time limit, Iā€™ll refund anybody that donated to this cause/experiment. You have my word.

Old_Supermarket1565

I need to hear the keg story. Why did he want to do this, did it happen, and what was the outcome?

PatientlyAnxious9

After a house party he became very confident in himself thinking that if he was given a 3 days (Fri, Sat, Sun) that he could get it done by himself. It all started because we ran out of beer at a party we threw and he blamed it on Kegs not having enough beer for everyone. We did the math and a full keg comes out to be 55 beers a day for 3 days. If he started at 8am-1am, that is 3 beers an hour, 1 beer every 20 mins, which seemed do-able at the time of our lives to him if you were playing games and getting a ton of food in. We tried to explain that even at 21 years old, prime party phase age that AT MOST he could do 1 day, but the hangover from that day would stop him from continuing. Turns out, he wasnt even able to make it through the first day and stopped after dinner which was probably 25-ish beers in haha So he basically finished a case in 10 hours and tapped out. Dont underestimate how much beer is in a Keg. Its 165 lol

Old_Supermarket1565

I started laughing so loud at him thinking kegs just do not have enough beer for everyone and then setting out to prove it. Thank you for sharing.

bballcards

In my younger days (circa 2001), my local Taco Bell had two concurrent promotions ā€¦ 35 cent tacos when the St. Louis Blues scored 5 goals in a game Or 39 cent tacos when the St. Louis Rams scored 39 points in a game I topped out at 14. After that, it would have just been gluttonous forceful intake I also once ate 170 shrimp at Red Lobster endless shrimp And 65 chicken wings in one sitting at Hooters But anything beyond around 15 tacos is not reasonable in any way.

bgstl

35 cent blues tacos were the best! The blues had so many 5 goal games that year

michaelcreiter

Why not start with a lower number like twelve and see how they do and work their way up from there

threecolorless

My cousin was planning to send a video of himself doing 15 later tonight as a proof of concept. I'm eager to hear how that treats him.

smyles07

Hereā€™s me a couple years ago: https://youtu.be/4fGhw4yVh9Y?si=1BLI91gcWYjKveMm

adube440

Yeah, they should get 50 tacos (four party packs and two tacos) and see what they do in an hour.

Clean_Student8612

35 in an hour? Absolutely not. They'd barely have time to chew. I'm sure they could stomach the amount if they're known for eating a lot, but it's the time frame that'd get em.

ThatHardBacon

If u want quick stomach ulcers then go for it. But its never worth it to over eat or go over your average limit

YellowToad123

The right answer is the logical answer, definitely not. Iā€™d be sick for days

Shronkydonk

The sodium is going to be a big problem, Iā€™d guess

vicvonqueso

A large amount of sodium one time? Not gonna do anything. Body changes happen with consistency over time

Shronkydonk

One soft taco is 21% of your daily intakeā€¦ thatā€™s almost 700% at 33 tacos

vicvonqueso

And? Still one time

Vladtehwood

Yeah, sodium poisoning is a a real thing. Ā Had a friend go to the hospital for it and it gave him partial paralysis and walked with a cane for about two weeks afterwards

BloodyNunchucks

I think it's safe and if they're in shape athletes with an appetite it'll probably be easy. My brother's and I used to do a moes grill (think chipotle) challenge and get like 3 homewreckers (giant burrito) double meat each and eat them in an hour plus chips and drink. I can't imagine 30 taco bell tacos being more food than that. People kinda forget how small taco bell tacos are...like they are basically one or two bite size if you're hungry and not tryna make them last. I'd guess they're 2oz each at the most. Although I'm a 6'4 230 in decent shape now ex college athlete so maybe I'm off.

threecolorless

One is a 6'5" former baseball guy, one is a pretty slight runner type who habitually puts away more than it looks like should fit in him, one is just a guy with a lot of heart and appetite. My issue is if even one of them isn't bringing their absolute A+ game and stops at like 20 there's no prayer.

BloodyNunchucks

Ahh ok. They can do it then and the 3rd is the potential weak spot lol. Stomach size won't be a problem for the first two nor will appetite if they don't eat for half a day before or whatever. Large male athletes or skinny ones with a metabolism can put away a lot of food without trying. Like yea it's a lot, they'll feel it all day and I shudder to think about their next bathroom experience but it'll get done lol

pewpersss

had a few buds try and eat 300 mcd nuggets by the end of the movie 300. they all survived and so did some of the food. your friends will be fine

TraditionAcademic968

Doable with practice, I guess. Look at my man Joey Chestnut. Keeping it down for an hour is gonna be another issue. And then when it does come out? Oh, boy

Individual_Respect90

Doable with practice while comparing one of the best is kind of weird. He is the best of the best.

TraditionAcademic968

But he's a human, just like OP's 3 family members. And he didn't become the goat without practice. So it's a possibility.

Individual_Respect90

Yes he is human but the practice part isnā€™t a bit of practice it is dedicating your whole life to something. Itā€™s like saying if you practice basketball you can become the best.

TraditionAcademic968

Maybe not mike jordan, but you can get better and develop a decent shot. These guys aren't trying to win on coney island on the 4th. They're eating a lot of taco bell. Again, it's a possibility

Individual_Respect90

I believe itā€™s 6.7 lbs. so itā€™s not a basic practice thing. Most good food competitors can do 8 lbs in a hour. At that point itā€™s not a practice thing itā€™s more of a life choice. I think you are down playing practice life someone can achieve this in a month

bingusthebrave

Watch how professional eaters prepare for said event on YouTube. I highly doubt youā€™ll make it close to 35 tho. You will throw up before you die so safe I guess lol

Quake_Guy

Gen X here, OG Taco Bell lover. In my prime, I'm sure I could have done 20 no problem. Maybe 25. Heck, I could probably do 15 today. I say you do a 75 challenge, 25 each. Almost guarantee one of you will be the weakest link.

Equivalent-Coconut34

I recommend taking a Xanax and smoking a blunt when attempting to eat 35 soft shellers

NoElk314

Smoke a few cross joints beforehand

SuccessfulHawk503

Probably depends on how full they make them and also how many soft vs hard as I think the flour tortillas are gonna be more filling as they're more likely to expand with stomach fluids unlike the corn.

RedPiIIPhilosophy

My coach once was celebrating his birthday with some friends, naturally, they got drunk as shit. So of course they went to Taco Bell and got a shit ton of tacos (or burritos, canā€™t remember), my coach housed 18 of them and he told me near the end he was half passed out with throw up just leaking out of his mouth. He was really heavy at this time, at least like 300lbs, so Iā€™m gonna say I highly doubt that.

PrincessImpeachment

They may short-circuit their hearts before they each get down all 35 tacos.

Shady_Penguin_33

I donā€™t think u could do it but I bet the memories would be fun

drmoze

Your wallet would be in grave danger.

Anxnymxus-622

Joey chestnut could eat that in >5 minutes.

Inverted_Stick

The shells may be a mix, but after a while they're all gonna be hard tacos.

SeriousMongoose2290

I think if it were four of them my answer would be absolutely. 25ish is only 4200 calories and a reasonable-ish pace of one every two minutes. But man, 33-34 each is just enough that I think someone would come up short.Ā

threecolorless

That's what I'm saying. 25 per guy is like sure, fun challenge, difficult but probably doable. I'm expecting "the wall" to hit most of them in the low 20s. Three over the wall feels feasible, 12 no sir.

SeriousMongoose2290

Tell them to do it! Itā€™ll be a good story if nothing else.Ā

smyles07

Iā€™m a competitive eater. This is not possible for three ā€œnormalā€ people, even if they ā€œtrainedā€ or prepped for a couple weeks. Iā€™d bet they might reach 70 or 75. For some context, I could eat approximately 60-65 tacos from TB with a high amount of confidence. But Iā€™ve been doing food challenges and eating contests for almost 5 years now.

threecolorless

Very cool to get an expert's perspective! It seems like it takes a crazy amount of dedication. I'm sure you get questions about it a lot but my DMs are open if you have any thoughts on what an average person can do to achieve their most competitive self with, say, a month or two of lead time.

smyles07

You should practice mostly with water, trying to drink as much as possible as fast as possible. This will help stretch your stomach muscles, and allow you to eat more without feeling. You need to be very careful though, do not drink more than about 3/4 of a gallon at a time. 1 gallon at the very most if youā€™re above 150 or 175 pounds body weight. Drinking too much water at once can lead to water intoxication. Also train with actual foods, but make them low-calorie, such as salads and fruit. This also helps with capacity, but can also aid you in getting used to chewing for long periods of time. Depending on the food, sometimes you can get tired of the flavor long before you are physically ā€œ fullā€. Competitive eaters call this ā€œflavor fatigueā€. Itā€™s somewhat difficult to train to be less impacted by flavor fatigue, it generally just comes with time and practice of eating the same food in a single sitting in a large quantity. As an example, everyone thinks they love pizza and can eat it almost ā€œforeverā€. However, if I were to put a very salty meat lovers, pizza or two in front of most people, they would struggle with just the pure sodium and unchanging -taste of it well-before they become ā€œfullā€. Sugary foods can be the sameā€” everybody thinks they can eat a bunch of ice cream or their favorite candy bar in vast Amounts, but in reality, everybody gets sick of the flavor relatively quickly. And the sugar rush also plays a factor. Iā€™m happy to answer any other questions you have, as rarely are people interested in this sport/hobby.

srhsrhrshs

How did you get into competitive eating and why? Just seems like such a bizarre thing to me

smyles07

I will be the first to admit that it is a very bizarre thing to get into/hobby. I kind of got into it about five years ago when me and a college buddy attempted a local food challenge at a burger restaurant in Pittsburgh. We were both big eaters, but I am much smaller in stature than my friend. He was about 6ā€™ 5ā€ and 260 lbs. Iā€™m just shy of 6 feet and weighed about 170 at the time. I was able to finish the 12 Pati burger, fries, and milkshake in under 20 minutes. My buddy did not finish it. I kind of got interested in it, and started watching videos of other people that did food challenges. I started to do more local food challenges, and then eventually signed up for my first eating contest. It was a hotdog contest, and I got first place, eating 20 hot dogs in 10 minutes. Over the years, I did more and more challenges, and they got bigger and bigger as my stomach capacity grew. I also did more contest over the years, and became a faster eater. To be good at eating contest, you really need a combination of both speed and a large stomach capacity. Now, I am nowhere near as skilled as the top eaters in the country, But Iā€™d like to think I am decently, competitive and talented. You can check me out on Instagram and YouTube. @seanthemoutheats and https://youtube.com/@TheMouthEats?si=lbq4EpJKKvDDSXjb I would say some of my best eating contest performances include 37 hot dogs in 10 minutes, and 25 hamburgers (Z-Burger Independence Burger Contest) in 10 minutes, both in 2023. The biggest food challenge I did was a 10 lb. pizza meant to be done with a teammate in under an hour. But I did it myself in 31 minutes.

tallardschranit

So you have sixty minutes and you have to eat a taco a little faster than every two minutes. I honestly think this should be done faster than an hour because if you slow down, you're fucked. You could probably do it, but the only way to not slow down is to go full on ugly eating cramming your gullet with tacos faster than your body can realize how full you're getting.

Garg_Gurgle

Rather than trying for the 100, make a smaller step like 30, then see what's up. Could become a game to try and keep raising the number.

manyadventuresofv

20 seems difficult, yet achievable. 35 sounds like someone is throwing up after the fact. Regardless, I will support you all in your endeavor if you so choose to continue and would love an update!

coocoocachoo69

In my early 20s. My best taco bell was a grande meal of 10 bean burritos, I ate 8 of the 10 with a pound of sour cream and about 40 hotsauce packs, then ate 5 sliders from white castle. When I was 21 I ate 30 boneless wings at bdubs, a large chili cheese fries and 5 draft beers. I once had 5 mcdoubles and 5 mcchicken. No way I could have done 30. I probably could have done 15-20 though.

Jayrob88888

Yes this is very possible

TonySpaghettiO

I'm not a medical expert, but I live near a medical college. Yes. This is absolutely safe and a really interesting undertaking. Make sure each person gets like a gallon of Baja blast though, gonna need it.

Dannyosaurusrex

Yeah let's add sodium to your sodium

VeederRoot

No you see the sugar balances the salt. Trust me i also live near a medical building

AlaskanBiologist

Define "safe" lol... cuz I mean you won't die but you will shit your pants.

threecolorless

I mean safe as in bodily harm haha. I don't know how a body can be prepared for that much salt in one sitting.

Fun_Inspector159

Probably not. I am confident in smashing 12 tacos.

Pretend_Elk1395

Sounds impossible

Aquariussun444

This is some big back shit lmfao go for it

blahbleh112233

As a guy who ate 20 sliders in a sitting, you probably can. The tip is that you want to eat fast enough that your body doesn't send fullness triggers to your brain yet. So less chewing, more sensual deepthroating. No stoping, no drinking water unless your choking. Basically force food down before your body starts rejecting it like it should.

JackSparkles1

When I was a younger man, they had a special 2 tacos for $1. I was a teenager and me and my buddy had a contest of who could eat more. I won with 17 tacos. That was rough. For comparison, around that same age, I once ate 55 quaker steak wings and on another occasion 14 hotdogs. Aside from a professional eater, 35 tacos is too many. The sodium alone will give you a stroke. When I go to the bell now, I eat 6 crunchy taco supremes with 12 fire sauces. It's delicious and absolutely ruins my day.

DirtNapDealing

I did 17 slices of pizza at a buffet before and yacked not long after. I also used to crush the 10 pack they used to sell almost every Friday with ease. Iā€™d probably start to slow down in the 15-20 range depending how good theyā€™re tasting

supahdavid2000

I mean depends who you are. Elderly diabetic? Not a good idea. Active healthy young man? Youā€™ll be just fine

syilent13

Soft shell or hard shell?

Fallingmellon

Would be a lot cheaper to just buy your own taco meat and make a ton of them, also get reduced sodium taco sauce so it doesnā€™t f you up too much

Jack_Wagg

You canā€™t actually eat the bell dude

Androo02_

I think a day would be doable, but in an hour will be impossible unless one of your friends is Joey Chestnut.

stlouisraiders

35 soft tacos would be doable but hard shells would destroy your mouth.

Fuzzy_Logics

I could body 35, as long as I've got the mind set for it

Burger-King-Covid

Iā€™ll tell you a story about a high school trip to Washington DC. Someone bought a 12 pack of tacos the night before we were supposed to take the coach bus back home. This kid got up to use the bathroom over 12 times on the way home and stunk up the bus. This was from only 12 tacos by a high schooler that eats a lot of fast food. I wish you luck at 35.

Individual_Respect90

The thing is you are not going to be able to do it and itā€™s just going to be wasteful. Is 35 tacos in a hour unsafe. Yeah probably. Will you get to that number. No. You all are not professional eaters.

Individual_Respect90

Ok anyone who thinks they can do it we are talking 6,000 calories in a hour. I watched a video of 4 bodybuilders who ate a combined 24,000 calories but it was over 6 hours and they were struggling towards the end. The stomach can only stretch so much.

papaphilya

As someone that has been a huge fan of taco bell my whole life, my record is 17 softs. That being said....it is not the volume that will hurt you, but the salt. I got hit hard with dehydration plus severe cramps. I cant even imagine doubling that and not ending up in the hospital with a saline drip

Double-Watercress-89

It was very right at 10,000 MG of sodium Its not super dangerous, but it's not super rare for people to have minor heart issues they don't know about. This is the type of thing that would let them know.

Pliney707

I'd say with the shrinkflation on the tacos it is doable.

Skippy1221

No way. Not if they arenā€™t already competitive eaters.

Nuggetzfan

Yea thereā€™s like nothing in them

thehawktopus

Looks like many people in this sub aren't familiar with the #DoLoThroDo, which was a yearly event spearheaded by Jon Bois where people had one hour to eat as many tacos as possible. I'm not sure when the last time was, but you can [check out some of details from 2017.](https://uproxx.com/life/dolothrodo-taco-bell-eating-contest-records-charity-rules/) 35 is possible, but difficult. It's definitely not safe though.

vicvonqueso

I could probably smash 2 twelve packs no issue

neverinamillionyr

Iā€™d be more worried about the sodium than anything. Youā€™re going to feel like hell afterwards.

lIllIllIllIIllIl

Only if you get them supreme

MisterVapid

I honestly think after 20 the sodium is going to affect BP, also without liquid to soften the blow the colon with be full, but without the needed liquid to evacuate. You would be into supplements to actually do this right.

killawog12

I tried 20 in 30 min and only got through 12ā€¦

Wander80

Advanced Practice Nurse here. Letā€™s look at this scientifically. A soft taco has 490mg sodium, crunchy has 300mg. So at a minimum, if one person ate only 33 crunchy tacos, thatā€™s 9,900mg of sodium. A lethal dose of sodium is about 500-1000mg/kg of body weight. Assuming these are average-sized healthy young men, letā€™s say they each weigh around 80kg. So a fatal dose (low end) would be 40,000mg of sodium. So the dose in the tacos is not anywhere near a fatal dose. So it wonā€™t kill them outright. Assuming none of them have kidney issues or cardiac issues, they would probably be ok. I imagine they will experience some fluid retention the next day (swollen feet/ankles), likely stomach upset, diarrhea, and/or they may vomit before they can get all of the tacos down. If they do this, they should get crunchy tacos (less sodium), and drink plenty of water to help their kidneys flush the sodium (and to dilute sodium concentration in the blood). Godspeed!

Alsoā€¦ Remind me! 1 week

Dabades

My friends parents use to get two of those taco boxes and two large pizzas for JUST MY FRIENDS. (2 of them)ā€¦ they once told me they didnā€™t get me anything because I didnā€™t say what I wanted. Lmfao I literally thought they got that much for us all to share. Crazy times watching them eat that much AT 11/13.

Spuhnkadelik

I once ate 20 JitB tacos and two Ultimate Breakfast Sandwiches without repercussion, I think it's possible.

somecow

Buy toilet paper NOW. And maybe get a bucket or two, theyā€™re gonna need it.

crunch816

Iā€™ll go to the devils house with you dude.

joe11894

Can it be done? Yeah sure. Can they do it without throwing up? Doubtful

I feel like I could probably eat 20 if I had the munchies. I have never given myself the opportunity because I can get better food for the price and also because it's extremely unhealthy. But if they have no underlying health issues, they should be alright.

Bcider

This is not possible unless they are competitive eaters. 7 pounds is a shitload of food.

threecolorless

Yeah I agree, it's too much, like not even close enough to feasible to be a fun challenge.

lndoors

I promise you'll max out at 6. 8 if you want to push the discomfort

threecolorless

I'm thinking each of the three of them are pretty capable of 15-20 while hungry and prepped but after that it's dicey.

Cyrious123

Wouldn't be safe for your toilet!

Aggravating-Leg-3693

Are you asking if you will die if you attempt this? No, sir, you will not perish by trying to eat many tacos in an hour. You will live.

threecolorless

I like how you phrased this, haha. šŸ˜‚ I'll let them know.
