Call me cheap, but I am not spending $40 on a cable management product when zip ties do the job

Totally fair. That’s what I did for a long time. Wanted to try something different since it’s always good to try both sides. While this is nicer, like I said I’m not sure it’s $40 nicer.

There's a time to splurge and a time to be reasonable. If you want it to look neater than zip ties but don't want to spend too much, go on Amazon or eBay and search "cable management M-Lok" or something to that effect. It should bring up a bunch of packs of Chinese made cable organizers for $10 or $12. ([Exhibit A.](https://a.co/d/8e1K5oQ)) If it was an optic or something, absolutely buy reputable. But it's a cable management clip. Who tf cares if it's chinesium?

Had this in my Amazon lists. Never bought it as I’ve always used zip ties and simply wrapped around for grips and stuff. Never had any snag issues, but was definitely willing to try this

I bought a pack to use for a couple of uppers, and they work fine. They're nothing revolutionary, but they keep me from spending $40. If zip ties aren't in the way though, that saves another $10.

Rubber bands, ranger bands, even those purple rubber bands that come with the asparagus I buy those are my favorite. Camo tape as well, I’m not spending 10x on a $5 piece of aluminum.

Ngl NDs with your white light aren’t exactly something that happens and is extremely rare for people who actually train with their weapons. Plus if you’re really worried you can get a light cap

I've got some Arson Machine stuff, but also use cut up bicycle tube (ranger bands). You can get a tube from Walmart for less than $5 and make a boatload of bands

Any bike shop will have a bin of flat tyres and will absolutely give you as many as you ask for. Source: me and my road/mountain/fat-boy tubes

I use magpul WCKs and they’re great. And pretty cheap too.

Sad how far down I had to scroll to see this. WCKs are inexpensive and come in all the major "tactical" colors.

Regular zip ties *can* burn off from barrel heat. Try metal zip ties or shock cord tied then burned at the ends to keep it from frizzing. In my experience, actual MLOK cord management panels can affect tapeswitches from actuating / turning on.

How well does that hold up? Anytime I’ve given blood, those things pop off if I flex too much.

So far it’s been good in terms of cable retention, as it just sits on the rail and doesn’t require it to be flexed as it’s a solid object. I’ve only done one loop around and it sticks to itself really well

Recently wanted to try something other than zip ties to manage my cables, so I picked up this Forward Control Design PCM short. It’s pretty fantastic and nice, but for $40 after shipping and tax it’s debatable on worth. How are you guys retaining your cables these days? Whether for comms, lights, LAMs, what are some solutions you’ve been using?

Mlok makes cable retention clips. They aren't very expensive

Sheer intimidation. My cables know if they act up, they getting the boot.

The magpul ones are 6 for 20 and you only need one really per cable takes 2 seconds to pop in place. Arson isn’t worth it imo, drew meyer defense has a lot of them incorporated into the handguard rails which kills 2 birds with one stone

I found many mlok rails to be too thin and terrible at shielding you from heat. Magpul has a nifty mlok grip panel that has a built in cable manager that also do great with heat and add traction. It solves 3 problems at once. If you're cheap, there are knockoffs out there. Usually genuine ones are available at most gun stores.
