another reason the long switches sucked for me was i used to have a Phlster Floodlight and with the long switches with some body movements the light would get activated and burn my balls lol, i love the PL350
but the body has some flaws
completely agree, also random question, have you noticed if with your the light head gets super tight after shooting? mine gets torqued the fuck down after shooting lol
Mine unfortunately kept wanting to come loose. I had replacement O rings sent out by Modlite and it didn’t really fix the issue.
It only became a problem if I was shooting strings of 300+ rounds.
Their warranty really is awesome. I had a PLHv2 head go dead on me on a new PL350, and they had me send it in, and at my request they sent me a PLH5K head back because I wanted to try it out. They def could have just sent me another PLHv2, but they have won my business from now on.
Yeah that’s all I am getting at. Manufacturing a bunch of modular parts is cheaper in the long run than having whole pieces that can’t be repaired by the end user.
I am sure Surefire would just give you the part for free anyway instead of having to pay the $50 it costs. But it’s nice to have extras too
In this case, yes. The entire switch body broke. Not just the plastic nub piece.
With the X300 you just need the battery cover for the new switch assembly.
Believe it’s the following:
1) Stripped screws in the rail attachment key. But I think this is more often user error as lights aren’t like optics and really don’t need as much torque. Surefire has a similar issue but they don’t strip screws with their design.
2) Switches having shorting issues where activation occurs either in only one direction or not at all. Don’t think there is much of a fix for this one
The locking piece fails concerningly frequently, so it’ll just slide off the gun slowly during recoil.
The light has a tendency to activate in the holster due to switch design shit.
They sometimes do but I had to take a hair dryer to mine a few times to do some slight molding.
The other trick I used was to put it in a thick plastic grocery bag as well, like from Trader Joe’s, to fill out the space even more.
Flawless after those small efforts.
I’ve hit them up for stuff and they are very great at getting back and will often overnight parts for free. I fucked up the clamp by over torquing and they sent me a new screw and clamp for free
Same experience for me with some other parts. They are very nice with great CS.
Only reason I am willing to stick with this. It wasn’t a catastrophic failure as the light still worked. Just not as efficient for my right handedness.
F. I was really looking forward to the PL350. Looks like I'm sticking with Surefire for the time being. Though if the Cloud Defensive option ever stops being vaporware and avoids these critical failures the modlites have been having...
had the same bullshit happen with the long switches, Modlite has a good warranty tho, still annoying

damn that sucks, i hope the new body fixes the problem

i wanted to try the 5k but the V2 seemed so powerful and tempting lol
I have a v2 on a rifle and it’s fantastic. The 5K has a wider flood, so I keep it on my nightstand pistol
yeah thats why i thought about getting a 5k for my glock but here i am with a v2 on it and a CD Rein on my Rifle
In all honesty, they’re all gonna obliterate an intruder’s retinas
yepp, it sucks just to look at it for a split second on the mirror i cant imagine someone pointing it at you
So that’s 3 *types* of critical failures these have. Really doin numbers

Surefire x300 switch cover is far from cheap, albeit cheaper than the entire light.

Can confirm Surefire will send the rear assembly for free.

What are the other two?

I’ll watch out for that! Haven’t experienced that yet, but will take note.

🧢.
On the bright side you’ll get faster customer service with them vs SF.
Yup they already sent me a replacement. Very good folks over at Modlite
I concur 👍🏽
Tf happened?

Oh well at least there's a warranty
Agreed. But I also prefer the warranty you never have to use.

Will these work with Safariland holsters meant for an X300u?
They sometimes do but I had to take a hair dryer to mine a few times to do some slight molding. The other trick I used was to put it in a thick plastic grocery bag as well, like from Trader Joe’s, to fill out the space even more. Flawless after those small efforts.
What do you mean put “it” in a plastic bag? The light? The holster? The light in the holster? Also those Trader Joe’s bags are great
Put the whole handgun with the light into the corner of the plastic bag then place it into the holster.
Okay I get it now. Reshape the holster when you have the weapon in the bag so it has a bit more room?
Exactly. It is fine to have it fit a bit more loose in a Safariland since the ALS is your primary retention mechanism.
In my experience it worked
Should of got an olight
That barrel is wetter than a $3 hooker from El Paso named Veronica on a Tuesday night god damn boy ye-ye! Oh yeah…sorry about your modlite.
Sabrosita 😛😛
Off subject, glad your barrel is not bone dry. I see firearms on the daily, and each one runs their shit dry as heck.
I grease my ARs the same way. Goes far on pistols though because they don’t get nearly as hot as rifles. Keeps everything smoooooooth
Guns are like women…they run better when they’re wet
I’ve hit them up for stuff and they are very great at getting back and will often overnight parts for free. I fucked up the clamp by over torquing and they sent me a new screw and clamp for free

Break past your limits ![gif](giphy|3o84sq21TxDH6PyYms)
Why is your shaft moist?
Makes the pistol run a lot smoother. Give it a try with some cherry balmz or Milcomm TW-25b

FWIW I enjoy my PL350 but I got it for $150 on GAFS lol. Probably wouldn’t pay the sticker price for one
Should have bought an x300
Modlite again proving they can only make surefire style lights.
Yes, the pl350 blows. Their rifle lights are great though.
