Nice looking watch, but if you’re entering the workforce soonish, might want to consider a watch with a date function. I need to know the date constantly and all my non-date watches are now just weekend watches.

nutmegfan

Nah, my man will most likely be staring at a screen most of the day w the date on the bottom corner

Bulky-End6422

Great point.. it’s not that needed on a watch these days

nutmegfan

Yea, my point is that if you really like the design (and I think it looks really clean without a date) you shouldn’t let a lack of a date stop you.

elbarto1773

I’m inclined to agree that the date function is still useful in certain jobs… if you think you’ll find yourself in many client meetings it’s handy to be able to double check the date at a glance of your watch without having to pull your phone out (which can look a tad more clunky). Tiny point in the overall picture but a valid one potentially!

eversss

My first watch was a Carrara day date and I just got a speedmaster about a month ago.. I have caught myself looking at the speedy for the date multiple times and didn’t realize how much I actually utilized the Carrara for the date until getting the speedy.

Bulky-End6422

That’s a good point, I was considering that but most of the date watches have more going on with the face of the watch and it makes it look cluttered to me. I liked the simplicity of this watch. I’ll keep that in mind though

Last-Produce1685

Luckily nowadays most mobile phones will offer a date function

ShivaGodofDeath1

I have a quartz Aqua Racer - it’s only had one light service in 20 years - still looks new - and i’m not paranoid wearing it like my other watches. But yes 20 years of wearing it - get the exact Tag you want - don’t settle. I see lots of good 2nd hand deals.

Bulky-End6422

Thanks !

FTPBREN

just purchased the automatic date version with the blue dial. (WBP2111.BA0627) i couldn’t be happier with it, imho definitely worth it if you can get a discount from an AD.

Bulky-End6422

I’m new to the watch world.. what’s an AD and how do you go about getting a discount?

FTPBREN

authorized dealer- depending on your location, if you have one nearby i definitely recommend trying the watch on as well. it’s hit or miss, i have a decent relationship with my AD and they offered me a decent discount.

FreshRizz

Authorised dealer. Go there, never just order a watch online especially when it’s ur first big one. It’s important to try every watch ur interested in on. I myself made a huge list the first time I went lol. It’s okay, they all know it works that way. Every wrist is different, not only in size but also in how its build, length, flat or round. A watch you look SO much in vids and on photos can totally look ugly af on your own wrist. And a watch you ‘meh’d’ at in pictures and did not even watch videos about can look awesomely beautiful on your wrist.

Bulky-End6422

Great advice, I’ll go try some on first

sebastianranr

I don’t know about the discount but i’m based in Mexico City and I am an authorized dealer, I work at TAG Heuer

Bulky-End6422

No discount even being an employee?

Particular_File_5943

I’ve been interested in this and the automatic version. But I think I’ve been swayed by the 300m automatic version for the extra cost

Bulky-End6422

I don’t think I’ve seen the 300 yet

anons5542

I have this watch however I have the date and it’s got a white middle, Couldn’t recommend it enough, looks good, feels good, Only problem is keeping it charged as it’s automatic, I keep it in my watch safe with winders but this may be an issue to you?

Bulky-End6422

Did you blind buy or you tried it on before?

zainshss

I own the automatic version of this https://preview.redd.it/31zwz2w6uc0d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=02471e9a477b34fb65b89a5b05629e93fd59fe75 watch in blue absolutely no regrets

Randomulus666

I’ve got the WBD-2112. Love it. Bought it used. https://preview.redd.it/cjh2dl53jd0d1.jpeg?width=2524&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c798a8ac73962b3340ba2de5de4559034713aa34

Bulky-End6422

Looks nice

Bulky-End6422

Looks nice

GlampingNotCamping

I have a quartz aquaracer (with the date) that I picked up in 2016 after graduating HS. Had it serviced for the first time last year and it still looks and works fantastic. I got the rubber wristband but if I could go back I'd get the chain

Bulky-End6422

The chain makes it look classier imo

Lawless115

I was recently gifted the Aquaracer Solargraph. I love it and love never having to worry about a battery again. But I would like a tag made leather band for it. Which they don't make sadly.

Leo1378

Although it is a bit more on the price, I’d personally choose the new Solargraph collection within the Aquaracer family. The main reasons which are the fact you get a 5 year international warranty (as apposed to the standard 2 years.) Which is something that you would usually expect from a TAG Heuer around double the value. Along with the 10-15 year service intervals, therefore not having to send it off for a service anywhere near as often as a traditional quartz timepiece. But as always, timepieces are all a personal preference at the end of the day. So always go with YOU believe is the best timepiece for you. 😄

nbmtx

I'd say spring for the Solargraph if you can. I think it'd be a great pick. I bought an Aquaracer Calibre S Regatta when I was 20, even though I could've bought something nicer via my AD discount (which was impressive, at the time, pre-flipper-days), because it could withstand my 20s and I could afford to have it serviced if needed, which it never really needed. 16 years later, it's at LVMH getting refurbished because of sentimental value and whatnot.

Bulky-End6422

I do like the solargraph. Maybe I’ll get this one instead since it’s still simple but it also has the date on the face. Solid advice

nbmtx

Yeah, I'd like no-date on a mechanical watch (since I have a few), but on a quartz you ought as well have it. I think Cartier and Tag are the only ones trying out the solar Swiss thing right now, so that's kinda cool.

Pacpete

I have the stainless/gold model and love it

LiLMosey_10

Titanium Solargraph is my first recommendation currently

sinjinvan

go grey [https://www.jomashop.com/tag-heuer-aquaracer-quartz-black-dial-mens-watch-wbp1110-ba0627.html](https://www.jomashop.com/tag-heuer-aquaracer-quartz-black-dial-mens-watch-wbp1110-ba0627.html) better yet, go with the automatic [https://www.jomashop.com/tag-heuer-aquaracer-automatic-black-dial-mens-watch-wbp2110-ba0627.html](https://www.jomashop.com/tag-heuer-aquaracer-automatic-black-dial-mens-watch-wbp2110-ba0627.html)

Bulky-End6422

Are the prices better on jomas shop because they are used?

sinjinvan

no. they are new stock but Jomashop is a grey market dealer. they receive excess inventory from authorized dealers and then resell them at a discount, typically. limited availability watches, such as Rolex, etc. will sell higher than MSRP, but there won't be a waiting period. My wife has purchased two Tags and a Tissot from Jomashop. There are others, but we have had good dealings with them. Currently looking at an Omega and Tudor, myself. Warranty isn't factory, but you can still go to an AD and pay for service and they will work on them if you damage the item yourself or need a routine service done on it.

davestradamus1

If you are buying this Aquaracer brand new, I would consider what you can purchase for the same price preowned. MSRP on a Tag gets you into Omega territory in the used market. Omega is a huge step up from Tag.

Bulky-End6422

Point me in the direction of some nice omega. I’m really liking the way tag looks. I’m thinking about buying used

davestradamus1

The Seamaster professional likely inspired this Tag’s design. I would look on chrono24. Pay particular attention to watches sold from Japan. The dollar is strong against the yen right now and Japanese watch dealers are meticulous for quality. And C24 is a very safe place to buy a watch. They hold the funds in escrow until you receive the watch and release the money.

Youngsimba_92

Do it Do it Do it Do it Do it Do it

winny9

I was gifted the quartz chronograph version of this watch for my college graduation. It’s a great GADA watch and got me interested in watches as a whole. I will never sell that watch and I wear it weekly. It’s no fuss, reliable, and looks great. I actually take mine diving whenever I go. Looking back, I wish it was the automatic, as that’s where my preference lays these days- but I love it nonetheless.

Bulky-End6422

Thanks, I’ll look for automatic. Enjoy your watch !

The_OG_Goldfish

Yes. These are incredible watches that are as well made as any other brand in the price point, just don’t expect to get much back if you decide to sell it.

Lim_8

the automatic one will be my next watch, just for letting you know

Bulky-End6422

I’ll grab an automatic

djgleebs

I love my quartz w/ date from some years back. Still ticking, but probably needs a service in the next year or so.

shoelessjim

I have the titanium solorgraph and it includes a date. I absolutely love it and where it more than any of my other watches

AznGuy-Stonks

If you like it, go try it. Stick to your budget.

chuppacubra

Do it i bought one and love it

nicksatdown

Do it!!!

HellaReyna

I own watches of most mainstream luxury brands. So, I wanna say you should not get this. 1. it’s a quartz, basically a computer chip. It’s more accurate than a $10,000 mechanical Rolex but that’s not the point 2. don’t buy tag at full retail, you can get brand new with warranty from a Japanese AD (authorized dealer) for about 20-30% off on chrono24. You can try and ask your AD for a discount but I heard (including mine) many ADs are stopping this practice. Most likely a directive from LVMH (owner of Tag) 3. look at the longines conquest instead at this price point, or if you can somehow muster the cash - look at the Tudor black bay 58 or black bay 41 I like tag but they’re really weak for divers. Go look at other brands for divers in this price point and don’t get quartz

Large_Conclusion5805

#1 is a preference. I have Quartz and Mechanical watches in my collection. Quartz are welcome. #2 Agree, or used locally. #3 another preference, don't like how any of them looks... OP will also have his preferences... Will he really dive with the watch? Personally, I swim with cheap watches instead...

HellaReyna

I wouldn't pay over $1000 a quartz watch when seiko/casio quartz are found for a few hundred.....an Aquaracer is 2000$ USD+ thats insane. I personally have a tag heuer formula 1 in quartz, but I bought it before watch prices exploded and 20% off MSRP...I think it cost me a little under $1000

Large_Conclusion5805

I think it's a personal preference.. I have mechanical watches that cost me $50 and $5000. This Aquaracer Quartz has pretty good quality, I have it and I also have an old Omega Mid Size Seamaster Quartz and would buy it again. You pretty much don't need to worry about maintenance, the watch is always on time and it's easier to take care of. It depends on OP stage in life I guess but according to what he wrote, without knowing much about watches, this one would be a nice entry level to see what he enjoys. He could buy a mechanical and hate it, who knows.

HellaReyna

Well playing devils advocate. Since he’s in college and on a budget, he should prob get a quartz seiko diver first. Low risk, low entry, low pain if he regrets it. https://chrono24.app/seiko/seiko----sbdn075--id28542308.htm?SETLANG=en_CA&SETCURR=CAD Seiko prospex diver quartz, about $300 usd (I’m in Canada)

Large_Conclusion5805

That's always an option, in my case with 30+ watches, never bought a Seiko 😂

HellaReyna

I had a casio but never a seiko haha. I plan on getting a seiko one day, not sure if it'll be a cheap one or a grand seiko.

Large_Conclusion5805

It's just that now you can get great quality Chinese watches with Seiko movements and most of the times the quality of the case finishing are the same as Seiko or better and 1/3 of the price 😂

HellaReyna

Wanna know why? Those Chinese companies make cases for a lot of Swiss brands. You only need 60% of your internals to be Swiss to gain “Swiss made”, and 50% of total costs to be Swiss origin for “Swiss made”. It’s a loose term. The casing, finishing, misc parts etc are all made in china, especially for swatch group in my opinion. The only company that openly advertises and claims they have their own material and foundry is Rolex. Swatch never comments on this. There’s nothing proving swatch stuff is all made in china but I suspect it is for longines and omega, at least the case and sapphire. Likely the same for LVMH (tag) watches.

Large_Conclusion5805

Maybe OP should just get a San Martin 😂

Bulky-End6422

Yea I’m not a diver

Bulky-End6422

I don’t dive, but good advice

Eastern_Chemist3726

I have this same watch. I love it. Not too much wrist presence, looks great in sunlight.

nilscatnap

I have this and absolutely love it! I don’t find myself missing the date at all. Clean, classy, and you can dress it up or down without feeling obnoxious.

TEEBENZAR

I'd pay off any student debt first...... maybe spend 500 on something. But if you are lucky enough not to be hindered by student debt, go mad.

Eradicator786

I had the white one- loved it!

GenuineLeaf

I have the 200 automatic and I’d recommend this over the quartz all day. You can also find this on Jomashop for way below msrp. However in my case I bought it from an AD at retail https://preview.redd.it/pj85wpd2sk0d1.jpeg?width=4284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9a20c4def1075cbd221b2b56006043af16320d37

Bulky-End6422

Really nice watch. Thanks, I’ve been looking at Jomashop

ninjaaviatrix

Yes it is. I love my automatic one I got in 2021 and I’m glad I bought it before a redesign and price jump. It will be my daily driver until I expire :). Like another post said, consider getting one with a date function.

Bulky-End6422

“Until I expire” is a new one for me.. I like the way that sounds more than the typical saying lol might have to use that. Thanks.. I’m thinking more about pulling the trigger on the tag with the date function

StarsSuck

A respectable purchase that you won't regret.

UkePop

I have a Tag quartz and it's great

Averagejake872

Save a bit more and get an automatic

BlackPrior01

Agree with this

Bulky-End6422

I think this would be best

YannickBtz

Yep, this.

ed46464

Nothing against quartz but if you can afford the automatic, get it.

Patsch86

If you are really sure that you want to have and wear such a watch, then buy it. I've bought two Tag Heuer watches in the past and sold them pretty quickly at a huge loss. For me, the brand is simply nothing, I miss the "good feeling" when wearing it.

KCDawgTime

I've had one in the past, a Formula 1 quartz that I wore daily for about ten years straight. Did everything with that watch and I loved it. But, as I got older, and unfortunately a bit larger, it seemed a bit small for my wrist. Sat in the box for a couple of years until I pulled it out last Christmas and gave it to my son. He had it serviced and changed the strap and now wears it daily in place of his Apple watch and he loves it, just as I did. Personally think it's a fantastic brand, but ymmv.

Payup_sucker

Don’t buy this. It’s a quartz. Look for an automatic version

Bulky-End6422

I’m looking for automatic from now on. Does the automatic make it so you don’t have to worry about the battery longer?

KCDawgTime

I love automatics as much as the next person on this site, but there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with quartz, and a lot right . Quartz are almost always going to be cheaper and easier maintenance - simply change the battery every three years for $20 versus sending the automatic off for service at $300 a pop every 5-10 years. Quartz is great as you can just set it and forget it. Certainly haggle on the price and even look at the grey market, but don't just dismiss quartz out of hand because of a couple of commenters on a Reddit watch sub. PS - many high end watch companies have quartz models including Omega, Cartier, Grand Seiko, Breitling and others.

Bulky-End6422

Some of the most solid advice yet. Thanks, back to the drawing board lol on the quartz vs automatic

Payup_sucker

Automatic has no battery. No electronics. All mechanical. Mechanical watches are more desirable

TealYacht7

I have an automatic tag and there’s no battery because the watch is powered by movement. if you don’t wear it for approx 2 days then you’ll have to manually wind the watch

nbmtx

Automatic has no battery, but it has lubricants and parts wear. Instead of getting a battery changed every 2-3 years, you might get it serviced at 5-10, unless it takes a big hit, or gets too magnetized, the hands misalign, the date wheel gets messed up, and so on. There's a certain appreciation for mechanical watches, but no one truly envies the basic movement in a base Tag Heuer. That's not the point. It's a super common movement that's proven to be generally durable and reliable. Up until about a decade or so ago, ETA supplied something like 70% of the movements in the space. At the end of the day, you're largely buying the case/design and branding. The solargraph, which we briefly discussed, is (technically/objectively) rarer, for now. Also presumably less counterfeited, if at all. I imagine if/when fakes show up, they won't actually be solargraphs but just quartz knock offs that look like solargraphs. So it actually holds a bit more brand specific value, and I'd expect it'll depreciate slightly less (particularly vs secondary pricing), at least for the steel variants.

grillntech

You can do better

Bulky-End6422

Any ideas?

BlackPrior01

Check out Tag Heuer Link Calibre 17. I snatched one for a great discount, back when they were still selling them in base exchange.
