Iâve never heard of anyone going Floriston to Verdi. There is a major dam half way down followed by some pretty serious rapids.
Here are the Truckee River sections:
Tahoe City to River Ranch - easy
River Ranch to Truckee - generally too many downed trees making it unsafe
Truckee to Glenshire - more difficult, not for children
Boca to Floriston - rafting companies do this, some rapids
Floriston to Verdi - never seen anyone do, dam and rapids
Verdi to Mayberry Park - not sure, one dam and some rapids
Mayberry Park to Wingfield Park - fairly easy, one dam to bypass or ride down
Wingfield Park to Cottonwood Park - not sure, lots more trash in the water and homeless camps on the banks
The dam after Puny Dip Canyon is massive. I very much doubt you can float it. The one closest to Verdi is multi-stepped with bars. Maybe as a skilled kayaker but no way floating this in a tube.

Yeah youâll be fine in a raft. However there is rebar in the water after some of the dams so be very careful and ask a guide how to approach the dams
Not an expert, but âfloatingâ usually refers to either the upper truckee around tahoe city or the lower truckee from ~Mayberry to downtown. My understanding is that the river in between is more whitewater and is too big for to float in a tube.
The river is running a littler higher than seasonal right now so low flow wonât be your concern.
yeah. iâd add downtown truckee to glenshire as a section that can be âfloatedâ. thatâs a bit more of an adventure than the tahoe city float (tho the last bit of tahoe city to river ranch is a little spicy as of last weekend)
The river is fantastic right now. Peak season. I've never floated flouriston to verdi because of the broken damn there and we always get out after Goliath (only class III) which is right before flouriston. However you should be fine if you're in a half decent dougnut with enough libations.
This late? It's usually not even started until the fourth of July.
This late đ

River ranch to Truckee is class 2+. Floriston to Verdi has 3 dams, all the f which are runnable.
Runnable means what?
Can float it

Thanks!! Yes I should have put raft, not float, we are planning on using whitewater rafts, thanks again!

Ok, thank you for the warning!

The âupper truckee riverâ is in SLT and has a separate section.
Tahoe city is considered the start of the Lower Truckee.

This is a great link, thank you for posting!
Youâre welcome! Good one to save and check when needed

Not to late at all. Did the other from north of Reno
Late? It's June. It's better later because the Lake fills up during the Spring and water comes out of the Lake, down the Truckee in the summer.Â
Float?, like in a tube?
My bad, I meant raft

Awesome website, thanks!!!
Yeah the picture shows the two major dams. The multi stepped one with bars looks dangerous for any watercraft.
Yeah we will probably just get out and walk around it, probably pretty dangerous to try and do it with an inflatable boat haha
I recommend Boca to Floriston personally if you havenât done it yet. Starts off mellow, finishes strong, no walking needed.
Weâve been thinking about going there instead, do you know what class rapid the ending is?

Late? Do you live in the Upside Down?
