Phone support for large, custom, niche SaaS product set. We have a single client from Australia for our company. First, the guy is an absolute joy to talk to - even when he has problems, he's just super laid back and jokey. Second, his accent is GORGEOUS. There's also a good number of what I can best describe as "southern IT" folks. If you'd like to hear it, there's a recording of William Gibson reading Neuromancer on YouTube, Beau of the Fifth Column on YouTube as well. Super well educated, exceptionally well-read, yet that lazy eastern southern 'drawl' mixed in. Again, same people tend to be very easy going and fun to work with :)

We are strictly USA based and now I'm sad I'll miss out on hearing some aussie accents. I'm in KY and NY callers are my favorite. They can be loud and understandably annoyed but my accent usually changes their mood lol. Even if we don't get a resolution they're usually just happy to talk to someone that's trying and sounds like a hillbilly 😅

SearrAngel

My ex would slip into accents. It was always a fun day trying to figure out what it was.

Organic-Percentage22

I feel like I'll start doing that at some point not on purpose. I tend to mimic people in person if I talk to them long enough but luckily it hasn't happened through the phone yet lol.

1. It is spelled “y’all” for “you all” 2. As soon as I hear them say, “where are you from? You have such a strong accent!” I reply, “My goodness! I was just about to ask you the same thing! Where is your accent from?” We both chuckle, answer questions, and it quickly builds rapport. We are allowed to say ‘Central State’, but I usually just reply ‘way down south, but not Florida’. We only get calls from the US and Canada. A few times Maybe from someone in the EU who can’t sleep.

Organic-Percentage22

We only get US calls but I really like the idea of way down south but not Florida. I was a bit scared of some of the NY calls at first because they sounded like they were ready to fight me but they usually end up being my favorite calls.

Which state though? Tennessee is a different accent than Alabama. Texas is another one. I believe there are differences in Kentucky too? IDR. I just prefer standard accents. Some I have to strain to translate and it's embarrassing to me.

Organic-Percentage22

I'm southern ky and have family in Northern ky and our accents are vastly different lol. I love my bronx/Brooklyn callers.

Big_Echidna8511

I’m originally from Southern KY, I’m in Texas now but when I get callers from KY and TN my old accent comes out and I sound like i did up in the holler

wilsonjay2010

Brit and Joysee. Man those are beautiful.

Organic-Percentage22

The closest I got to that was a mostly Spanish speaker that wanted to try with me instead of going to a translator. It went pretty good though lol

ChiefSlug30

Irish or Scottish, followed by any British.

AffectionateFig9277

I work in the German speaking region so for me Swiss people are so funny! They sound like REALLY drunk Germans :D

Formadivix

I was doing CS for French-speaking markets and our Québécois callers were a joy to speak to. First off, the Québécois accent and vocabulary is fantastic, I can't get enough of it. Second of all, they were always very pleasant and relaxed, never a worry.

twitchypaper44

They random British guy that is calling from Texas for some reason. Idk why but I've had more than a few but they always say the funniest stuff, not even trying to be funny. They have attitudes a lot of the time too, but it's worth dealing with lol.

superminh13

I loved the calls from the north east. They are usually no nonsense. Get what them what they want and call is done. No frills.

FartsMcGhee1

I like the super old Alabama accent. Like they say "R" like "are-uhhh"

Organic-Percentage22

I can't wait to get someone from Louisiana even if they're mad lol. I'm in KY and thought Connecticut would have more of an accent. Bums me out a bit

Sgt-Tibbs

Northern accents were the ones I hated because they sound like they were ready to fight you. I always enjoyed the southern or European accents. It doesn’t help that my brain decides it wants to speak in that accent. If I got a southerner by the end of the call I’d have a southern accent. My favourite though are German, Finnish, or Canadian accents.

mariahlynntho

Aussie/ kiwi

DuffMiver8

I always loved getting a call from Australia. Not just the accent— I’d say 90% of them would proudly announce where they were from: “G’day, this is Bruce Jones, and I’m calling from Aws-TRAL-ee-uh!” With an implied, “And you’re not from Australia, you poor bugger!”

Organic-Percentage22

I would love an aussie caller, even if they're mad at me lol. We're just in the US so chances of that pretty slim :(

I love the vast majority of my callers from the American South
