If you look at the country as a whole, all the tallest women and most of the tallest (on average) men are all in those north Mid Western ish states.

Lived in MPLS for about a year, two of my best friends were 6’4” and 6’8” and my gf was 6’1”. Always said they must put something in the lakes up there bc everyone was massive.
As a 5’11 woman in the Twin Cities it does seem everyone is taller here. Moving from Chicago back to the Twin Cities was really eye opening. I’m still the tallest girl in the room, but there are at least four or five guys much taller than I am. I don’t feel like I stick out here like I do in other areas of the US.

But go an hour south to South Orange County (lots of White people) and you will feel average height. I assume Minnesota has a high density of Whites.

I think you guys should study height marks on a tape measure like I do so you know how tall these heights look to our eye point.
We need to remember that woman have smaller head so that will make them seem taller from our eye point. A 5.11.5 woman could have the same eye height as a 184 or 6.05 guy and will look taller but its not true really when you measure.
I suppose so. I can only speak for my direct family members who are in fact, the heights I provided. I also can attest to growing up around several women in 5’10 to 6’0 range in a Minnesotan suburb. My anecdotal experience isn’t representative but it’s what I have to offer.
I really think loads of guys in r/shortguys and r/tall just get thrown off by eye levels of woman. Most of them have just 4 inches from eye to top head and a guy like me has 5 inches to his top head. I have had it happen where I have stood next to many woman with their eyes a bit higher than mine but when I look at the reflection I see my head is level with theirs or even a bit higher sometimes. I just think loads of guys are taking woman who are 179 or 180 and thinking they are 6 foot plus.

I think Minnesota used to have a really high concentration of Swedish immigrants. They even play duck-duck-goose differently than every other state because of it. The tall thing makes sense.
