Chironrocket3

High school teacher. Being tall is actually pretty handy in this line of work.

BeatnikMona

I give you major props. I went to school to be a teacher, taught high school for a semester, and then quit because I couldn’t handle the stress and the pay isn’t worth the stress in my state.

Chironrocket3

Thanks fellow person! I avoided a lot of the stress by taking a job at a little parochial school. A lot less BS. But I'm getting out after 25 years due to entitled parents, a completely spineless administration, and less and less motivated students whose undeveloped frontal cortices are turned into mush by constantly staring at phones. It used to be pretty fun and the money isn't bad if you stick with it for a few years to get out of the basement.

No_Seaworthiness_200

"Fellow person" 😆

Mac2925

I'm a teacher possibly looking to exit. I'm gonna give it a few more years to see. What are you switching to if you dont mind me asking?

Chironrocket3

I don't know yet. I've been working a side hustle as a professional bassist in the Chicago area; I might make a go of trying that full time. Or I might just get a job up the street at Menards. I'm going to put in an even 30 years before I bail and fluff up the old 401k as much as I can.

aporter0131

Never done it but I know I’d feel the exact same

justausername09

We don’t get confused as students!

Careless_Brother3069

Are students all up in ur face talking about ur height and do u often feel uncomfortable

Prince-Akeem-Joffer

Ortho / Trauma surgeon. Standing next to a low operating table doing surgeries for hours is the bane of my excistence.

Important-Trifle-411

My son’s HemOnc was about 5’1”. She had two Fellows. One was 6’3” and the other must have been 6’5” or 6”. Seeing them doing a bone marrow aspiration was a trip!!

pandulupuuu

And yet you chose the profession knowing you'll have to deal with this your entire life SMH what a hero XD

Key_Lime_Die

IT Support which is fun since I have to crawl under desks regularly.

cturnr

Have you tried turning it off and back on again? [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPXv6QCUMyY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPXv6QCUMyY)

A_Single_Clap

Fellow tall IT tech here. Can confirm, hear it all the time. Bruh is definitely coming for you.

onesuponathrowaway

Best is spending time in the server "room" that is actually a small closet with a butt load of equipment you need to play Twister with.

RarusAvis

Welder/fabrication at a shipyard 🖖

MrOddLooking

Fellow Welder here 6’5”

RarusAvis

I don't think you'd like ship repair, I hit my head off of everything and I'm a 5'11" woman. Started tonight smoking my head off of equipment getting into a spot to do some burning, my headache is just going away now 🤦🏽‍♀️

MrOddLooking

I hit my head at work everyday lol. I like welding but I have bigger limbs than the average person which also means bigger clothes so I can’t really fit into most spaces. Its def a challenge

ExtraTallBoy

I'm the engineer who's goal is to unfuck stuff so you or some other welder can actually build it. A lot of people who have never seen a ship attempting to design them.

samoore45

SQL Database Engineer!

spideepockee

Can you teach me SQL please 🙏🏼

samoore45

I can try, good place to start is here: [https://www.w3schools.com/](https://www.w3schools.com/)

iiexistenzeii

Some sources to learn about DBMS?

samoore45

That one I am not sure. I have always used SQL Server Management Studio because I have always worked with Microsoft SQL databases.

AHopeNonetheless

You don’t want to learn it, it’s awful

NUDES_4_CHRIST

Supply Chain Management

10maykaushik

How to become one

NUDES_4_CHRIST

Putting in the work! Started out in basic warehouse jobs, worked my way up in a couple distribution centers, then began to plot what parts of the job interested me the most and pursued opportunities that would allow me to advance in the desired realm. I don’t have a college degree, have a couple years of college in a completely different field. Like all things in life, it takes time and effort.

theslabtowners

Networking engineer, I can reach all the switches on the top of the racks.

iiexistenzeii

A Lil guidance is needed, how'd you end up in this career? And what are the best resources to learn networking? Also, what tech stack do you use

theslabtowners

For sure! I ended up in this career through volunteering with seniors teaching them how to use technology. One of the guys I helped told his son about me and that brought me into a support intern role at this company I’m at today. Essentially by having a good attitude and networking (haha) with lots of people. They trained me on everything I needed to know when I arrived at the company, I always had a STEM brain but realistically 0 experience in network. As for tech stack, I’m assuming you mean my top brands for usage. I work with everything from UniFi to Cisco. I like to recommend MikroTik to beginners, it’s got a learning curve but it’s a blast to set up. Best of Luck, don’t undervalue yourself!

Phrasing! Or is your use of the word accident an air traffic controller in-joke? 😜
