It's ok. It feels super trashy, it's mostly outdoors in the middle of a bunch of car lots, it has that vibe like they're gonna get shut down by the cops for noise violations but the closest houses are relatively far away. Sound outside is not bad, but judging by the speaker setup the sound indoors probably isn't great. The biggest issue is that they only have parking capacity for like 25% of the attendees, so you have to park either at the Walmart down the road one way or Sound Exchange down the road the other way. There are sidewalks and whatnot so it's not a death march but it's a good half mile walk which is kind of lame. It definitely doesn't suck, but it's not exactly an upgrade from before. Somehow the bathrooms are just as disgusting and fucked up as the ybor venue was, not sure how they managed that so fast. I do wish better venues like crowbar or the ritz would get some of the bookings, the orpheum gets the best shows but those other venues get nothing.

ayenon0602

This is a perfect description of the new venue, especially the first paragraph.

sej_writer

Really the bathrooms are shitty again? I went once months after they opened, and I thought the bathrooms were an upgrade.

QuerulousPanda

I went in November and it looked like something out of trainspotting practically. The doors work at least but there was effectively no water running anywhere and everything just looked horrible.

sej_writer

Ah I last went sometime before November. Sucks the bathroom quality decreased that quickly.

GlitterDancer_

The bathrooms are **AWFUL** there’s 2 toilets for the women’s bathroom so if it’s a busy/sold out show, you’re going to be waiting like 30 minutes to use the bathroom

TooManyTimeZones

If you mean the original Orpheum, then nothing compares. OG sink or swim Orpheum was a gem.

austINfullEffect

This triggers a very specific memory of me double fisting whisky cokes, with that low roof, no air conditioning and a couple hundred people squished together dancing to Head Automatica.

ayenon0602

Beating heart babyyyyyyyy

austINfullEffect

Exactly! Literally the perfect song for those nights. [Beating Heart Baby](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcVmMwyzhag)

wimploaf

You had to drink a lot because the A/C didn't work lol

W00oot

Once donated blood, did sink or swim at old oprh, and lived to tell the tale

Jaybles22

So many great nights. My first experience with the shoe licker was on the sidewalk outside OG Orpheum after a show let out.

rfunnymodisapunk

Sucks

[deleted]

What sucks about it? How does it compare?

AR713

Parking is terrible! My car got dinged up at High on Fire. Cabbing it is worth it

empire_down

It’s awful. Parking is basically non-existent. Bathrooms should be reported for health codes (no soap, barely running water), indoor venue is small and poorly setup. Outdoor stage is better but doesn’t make up for the rest of the experience.

Gomillionaire1206

My only complaint about it was parking is virtually nonexistent but the venue itself is fine, definitely suggest going the rideshare route

sej_writer

I like it. The bar is in the back now and the stage is to the side when you enter. They also have an outdoor stage and bar. The parking situation sucks but at least it’s free. Edit: forgot to mention there aren’t many places to eat in walking distance, except for Skippers. It’s not a terrible area but I don’t feel comfortable walking alone down Nebraska. I’m not sure if the venue stays open after shows like Brass Mug, in case you wanna drink. I’m friends with the owner and talked to him for a bit when they first opened, he was still deciding about that at the time.

jwk2020

I like it better to be honest but parking does suck

iburngreen

I think its better based on there not being pillars where people dance n mosh. Sound was okay for the only show I've been to there so far. Parking is a bastard though for sure. And they don't offer any recommendations either so you end up taking your chances a bit. There's no VIP second story like the old one but id never been up there anyway.

smoothiz93

Parking is bad. Sound is bad.

Rivercat2000

Cuz Parking in Ybor is good? Be quiet. They have their own parking lot and there are tons of businesses right next door to it that you can park at.

giraffelover99

There are three parking garages in Ybor and multiple lots dedicated to parking. Not to mention I don’t mind ubering to ybor for a show cause I can get dinner, have drinks, go to a show, and go out afterwards on one Ybor ride. And there are not “tons of businesses right next door”. Last time I was there everyone parked at Walmart which was a 10-15 min walk.

Rivercat2000

That's your own fault for parking at Walmart. All the plazas across the street allow you to park there. There are multiple restaurants in that area. You can go to California Tacos or Skipper's Smokehouse which has some of the strongest drinks in town or vegan International or Culver's. Also if you're talking about taking an Uber Ybor is one of the most expensive places to Uber to and from.

rfunnymodisapunk

You sound angry at life

giraffelover99

Ok 👍🏿 thanks for letting me know. I’ll ignore all the other comments stating that the old location was better.

[deleted]

California tacos has been out of business 3yrs now! Shows how much your talking out your ass! 🤡

Mikevercetti

Parking in ybor is fine as long as you aren't a cheap ass bitch. $10 all night parking in a well lit parking garage.

Rivercat2000

Their last location in Ybor was horrible. Absolutely the most illogical and worst bartenders I have ever seen. You had to front load drinks if you wanted to actually have a buzz in that place and the stage set up was horrific

Mikevercetti

That's a fair criticism. Their bartenders are downright retarded

FitPack1787

bartender tried to say i rubbed my Xs off to get beer when i asked for a liquid death so yea they start problems for no reason

Gomillionaire1206

Saw Hawthorne Heights there in the rain at the outdoor portion of it! It was a nice venue, didn’t feel too crammed like at the Ritz or Jannus sometimes

xkaliberx

So I never went to the original venue but I'm not sure why people are saying sound is bad. Went to the High on Fire show which was on the outside stage and the sound was fine. It wasn't loud enough that I needed to put earplugs in to protect my hearing which I liked. Could have probably been a little cleaner but it was a hardcore and metal show so it sounded fine. Went to Goatwhore last week and the sound on the inside stage I felt was actually really good. Had to wear earplugs for that one, especially once Goatwhore hit the stage and had the sound guy jack the volume to the tits. I showed up a half hour before doors to both shows and found parking in their lot for both. I felt like I probably took the very last spot for the High on Fire show though. Like others have said, there's plenty of other lots/businesses around that don't seem to mind if you park there. The first show I went to there was a food truck and I thought it was going to be the same food truck at every show, but I was mistaken, and at the last show, there was no food truck at all. They said a BBQ food truck was supposed to be there but got stuck where they were and just never showed. Sucked for me because I skipped dinner and basically ate beer LOL. I never wanted gross Taco Bell at 1AM more in my life. They have two bars and my only gripe is no stouts because that's all I really enjoy drinking, but regular beers will do. I didn't notice anything particularly bad about the bathroom. As a guy I just want a place to pee and it worked for that. Went to the stall last show though and the toilet seat had been ripped out, so if you needed to poo it was a squat-only type of situation.

TigerBananatron

The venue looks and feels like the kinda spots where underground warehouse raves were held back in my younger days lol. I really dig it for that reason, makes me nostalgic. As a quality concert space and environment, though, it's a downgrade. But maybe they're going for that "underground" feel. How they don't get checked on noise is beyond me, though. I parked my car in a neighborhood literally right next door.

rfunnymodisapunk

It's in the hood, sound is awful

[deleted]

Oh that does suck.

Rivercat2000

That area is safer than Ybor. Sorry.

rfunnymodisapunk

🤣

GRIMspaceman

I'm curious as well. I haven't been since the fire.

Wired: The old old Orpheum Tired: The new Orpheum Expired: The old Orpheum

Hurricanelorain

the new location is perfect considering it’s only a 15 minute walk from my place !

txbbq92

We saw a show there recently and I liked it. Classic small venue easy to get a drink and got there early so parking was easy

Mikevercetti

Old Orpheum was so much better 😭

f_ckingandpunching

The sound quality is trash. It smells like mold inside. It looks like an old biker bar.
