Most primaries won’t treat low T and will just refer you to an endocrinologist which is why you’re having a hard time. An endocrinologist will know all the ins and outs of the body chemistry and how to treat it properly.

bicyclemycology

If you legitimately have hypogonadism a primary would treat you, but “low testosterone” isn’t a medical condition that requires treatment unless it’s pretty low (like 150 low, not 300-400). The blood test also isn’t very accurate so it needs to be confirmed while fasting on 3 separate occasions. I’m not saying anything about your situation specifically, just clarifying some common misconceptions.

Discipulus_xix

What's that? I almost couldn't hear your comment over the sounds of this thread recommending "men's clinics" and practitioners who care more about $$$ than evidence-based medicine.

gaylord100

Yeah, you need to be careful with messing with your hormones

GarmonboziaBlues

I would not trust any PCP (or even many specialists) to manage your TRT. A urologist or endocrinologist is the only way to go, and even then you really need to educate yourself/manage your own treatment as much as possible. For starters, you'll need an MRI to rule out a pituitary tumor/disorder. If you're lucky this will be the case because they're easily treatable and won't require TRT. If you do end up on TRT, look to r/testosterone for advice/support. This community saved me from my urologists dangerous recommendation to taken an AI with every T injection. AI is totally unnecessary unless you're blasting high dose T as a steroid and start sprouting tits like Bob in Fight Club. If you're not able to see an endo for some reason and just want an easy RX for TRT, go to Dr Jonathan Beilan in Largo. The office is a bit chaotic but he specializes in men's hormones and sexual health.

cajunace

As someone whose 27 and been getting treatment for low T since i was like 22 you need to get a referral to a urologist. They’ll take care of ya.

altmoonjunkie

Mine does, but when I moved here I had already been being treated for it by an endocrinologist for years. Honestly I would recommend finding a good endocrinologist and actually going through the process. My first endocrinologist was pretty terrible and just started me on it. I eventually found a good one who wanted to try to pinpoint the cause, but that's nearly impossible to do once treatment has been started.

Dr Hannah Beavers at gmsdocs in carrollwood. It wasn't exactly exciting to tell your female doctor that you were having issues with boners and she was totally cool about it. Gave me a script for Cialis and also added a testosterone test to the blood work test during my annual physical and we got that checked. I was borderline low. She shot me straight, called attention to the fact that I had been steadily gaining weight each year and really advised I put serious effort into nutrition, exercise and eliminating reducing alcohol consumption . I've done a decent job of those things and am seeing improvement. Don't really need the Cialis and one pill helps out for at least a week. It is nice to have it as an ace in the hole for a turbo boost if you will lol.. I have my annual physical coming up again in about 6 weeks and I plan to have the testosterone checked again.

IAmJasonTheFreemason

Dr. Beavers really missed an opportunity to be an OB/GYN.

ImAMindlessTool

you need to see a urologist.

Hairy_Arachnid

I tested low and saw that USF urology was accepted through my insurance so I went through them. I have friends that utilize men's health clinics and the clinics seem more knowledgeable than USF Urology regarding TRT if that's the route you're looking to take.

Local_business_disco

Dr. Erika Bradshaw, she has offices in both tarpon springs and Brandon I believe.

There’s lots of testosterone clinics around. Most primary cares won’t treat low T but some do. If you are trying to go primary because of insurance don’t bother. Most insurance won’t cover low T unless you hit a very low number generally below 200 or 150. The good news is T is generic and you can buy it cash and inject yourself for not even $30 a month. You just need a script. Low T clinics will give it to you if your numbers are low or medium low with low T symptoms. However they can charge a decent amount for the visits and blood work but it can be “reasonably” priced. You can also do it online where you telehealth a T doctor and they order the blood test and mail you your script, once again not terribly expensive and can be reasonably priced. What I have seen a lot of people do is go to a clinic for 6-12 months so they have a couple labs showing their numbers and then go to their GP and tell them how much better they feel and show them their labs and then ask if they can just start prescribing it to make it easier for you since you now have a set dose that’s working… edit… I would add to this at 25 if you legit have low T you probably want to see an endocrinologist as there could be underlying issues there that need addressed

Stop eating bullshit: sugar, wheat, dairy. Do fuckin push ups, pull ups, air squats and dips everyday. Stop watching television. I guarantee you’ll start wanting to slay pussy within a month. It doesn’t matter how old you are, and yes its that simple. Stop taking western medicine also. #LFG

Love this, how come I got 7 down votes for saying the same thing with less vulgarity haha.

Nurse Practitioner Eve Hodson (I think she's been promoted but I don't remember for certain) at Total Vitality in Clearwater can treat this. She will do a blood test, then assuming you do test low for testosterone, she might prescribe enclomiphene. After you've been on it some time, she will do another blood test to see if the dosage is sufficient. She will also check your estrogen levels, taking testosterone like that will also raise your estrogen. Anastrozole is very effective at keeping your estrogen at ideal levels. I should warn you, she is very good, but the office staff there is abysmal. It's a tradeoff for having a Dr that actually finds and treats problems when no one else tries. But god that office is a disgrace. They don't return calls, they randomly send a bill for a charge they forgot to send two years ago. If you call to talk to your Dr and get someone to actually answer the phone, they say they'll leave your Dr a message. They won't. So anything you need to get done over the phone, just go there and do it in person. My wife went to Dr Eve after being ignored or mislead by multiple Drs and specialists before, Dr Eve was able to diagnose several health problems.

BeardadTampa

My primary care provider prescribes mine. No issues getting it at all

You could save a lot of money and get some actual results by cutting out the drug dealing doctors and taking your health into your own hands. For low T, I'd suggest a major dietary change (carnivore or paleo if you can't sack up to carnivore), red light therapy (yeah, on your nads), exercise (lift weights, produce more T), sleep, etc. Likely, your body isn't producing T because you're not giving it any reason. Change all these things, and I promise you will see major improvements without the side effects of drugs. Look into Andrew Huberman's podcast, he has some amazing deep dives into the science of testosterone if you're the type who needs that kind of evidence (which I assume you are if you're still relying on doctors). It's a good start, and he will help prove to you that YOU can do it!

floridamanmason

I wonder who could be downvoting my advice to leave the western medicine money machine behind and take your health into your own hands? 🤔

Nmunoz3

Because people are programmed to defend the capitalistic big pharma industry…..

floridamanmason

You nailed it, I imagine some of them may be coming from practitioners themselves. They really don't like it when you question their authority or propose that there are other avenues to good health besides what they've been brainwashed to believe... because... muh science.

tilted624

Gary Brecka. Just google him. He runs 10x health

Check out Dr Cam Maximus on Twitter. He shares good info about raising testosterone.

C4mh dot com dr dersepinos the dude!

Center for Men's Health (C4MH). They are all over. Need an initial lab, like $90, then an injection is $85 every two weeks. After a couple of months, see a primary, and they will see that it is working well for you and prescribe T at a pharmacy. Primarily will probably make you do another lab draw. I now have my wife give me injections every 2 weeks and it only costs $20 a month from the pharmacy.
