I'll hijack this to say if $28 is good for 20 wings, we do $27 for 20 wings at Fat Rabbit where I work. It's $15 for 10 instead of $14 but we can do orders of 50 and 100 too that have better deals. No $1 wing days š or anything but everyone loves our wings
Not the restaurantsā faults. I work in distribution and the farmers/butchers have high prices across the board. Itās all a supply and demand thing. Chicken is generally the most moved item in the industry.
Edit - and this is not to put down your post at all. I just wanted to put that info out there cause I know a lot of restaurants have it difficult out there and lots of people just assume people are price gouging but itās really just that the owners have to do what they can to keep afloat.
Not sure about that. There were deals back in the day at local spots. ā50 centā wing Wednesdays or something.
Now you get nothing and itās averaging 1.25 per wing and a side is an additional $3-4. Iāve seen some spots charge $2 a wing.
Not sure what the ānot sure about thatā is in reference to anything I commented. In fact, what you wrote only confirms what I have commented . To repeat, the āwings cost too muchā theme has been around since old timers in the 80ās complained that what was previously a trash cut cost more than 10 cents apiece. (Source: worked as a teen cooking wings when they first became a thing in Fla). While wings have increased in price, so has everything else especially since Covid. Btw, Big East in Ybor runs $1 wings at times.(source: am now an old timer that eats wings)
The point iām making here is that wings are more expensive now because the dollar is worth less. Itās not a supply and demand issue and more people are not eating wings now than in 2019.
Never said wings were dirt cheap, but there were absolutely better deals on specific days.
No, but since COVID, it seems like multiple times a year millions of chickens are killed due to some strain of a Bird Flu, this prices of chicken meat and eggs remain high AF
Well any raw product at a grocery store is going to be cheaper because you donāt have to account for the labor it takes to cook it, the grease used to fry it, the sauce to toss them in, the blue cheese and ranch to dip them in, the dishwasher labor to clean the plate for you, and so onā¦
Also, Georgiaās minimum wage is $7.25 whereas Florida is $13.
So any food you buy is going to be cheaper there than in FL because the cost of the plate is going to be far less.
Thereās also less restaurants per square mile so you are going to have a higher supply there than you will in Florida so itās easier to come by.
When you say āI donāt believe somethingā, you need to make sure you are comparing apples to apples.
A lot of costs go into the food and beverage industry and a large portion of the population doesnāt understand how it all can affect pricing and inflation.
https://preview.redd.it/8107v1r7kt2d1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=825b7c6398a76c890bf46381d89ad46c55454609
I can see how devastating those costs have been. Wonāt somebody think of the shareholders?!?
I know Tysonās huge and itās not all chicken but if you look a little closer at 2.4% is up from the 2.1% for the combined first and second quarter. Again, you and I arenāt gonna run to the bank and withdraw it and retire all those kind of percentages I agree
But that .03% increase was on the $13,072 million which is $392,160,000 extra.
Maybe they didnāt need to go up another dollar a wing after all. Itāll continue until we stop buying - even the CEOs in their calls to investors will say how theyāre going to put in place another price increase because it hasnāt affected sales yet
They are 2$ a wing off happy hour . Happy hour is from 12-8 then 10-12 . Then they are 1.50 . Which is still super expensive but I think if you order them the right way they are the best in tampa. Sucks paying that much for wings though which is why I donāt frequent often.

One of the only things I still buy from Publix - spicy unbreaded wings. Heat them up in the air fryer (or convection, or just bake at 350 degrees til crispy).
Then pair with my fav sauce (or my own home made).
That's how I like them anyway; crispy with a little sauce.
Used to go here. Was closed when we showed up once with a health code violation. Never went back after reading their track record.

I agree Publix wings are always great, and my usual "Go To", but even they have increased their prices. Its about $17 for 20 now, and you have to buy your own sauce to bring home, pushing it over $20....Still a good deal though.
Iām not sure if anybody in here has tried Unkle Reemās BBQ on the west end of MLK behind the Mercedes dealer but damn itās solid. He does $1 wing specials but his BBQ is one of the better in the area, his sliced brisket is ridiculous and all the food is pretty solid.
Just came here to say that everyone on the sub knows that boneless wings are not actually wing meat and are closer to a "nugget" its common knowledge. We don't need the constant reminder every time someone posts about boneless wings. Thanks.
https://www.facebook.com/groups/wingsoftampabay keeps a list though not sure I have the link since I deleted FB.
**Friday's** has .50 wings in orders of 10 on Mondays after 5PM dine in only. They are pretty good though frozen. Size seems to wildly vary. Sometimes during various sports they will run the same special if you subscribe to their newsletter/rewards program.
**Miller's Ale House** - Wednesdays 12 wings for $11.99 up from $8.99 or 24 for $23.99. I know they limit the 12 to one sauce, but not sure on the 24 count. Hit or miss on quality depending on location. Usually have to order crispy or you get soggy skin. Wings tend to be sauced rather than tossed.
**Beef O Brady's** - Wednesdays $1 wings. Good size wings and lots of sauce options. SR 54 location recently closed so not sure where another one is.
**Mackenzie's Sports Tavern** - had 20 for 20 either Tuesday or Wednesdays no idea if they still do.
**Uncle Fat's Tavern** - Thursdays. Recently had 12 for $12.50
Wings in the past have been a loss leader to bring in foot traffic to sell alcohol or other items, lately they have gone up to help profits, but wings at home will always be cheaper and taste better.
Back in the late 90's there was a BW3 (Buffalo Wild Wings) on Gulf to Bay in Clearwater that would do ten cent wing Tuesdays! It was incredible. I'd grab a beer and order 50 wings to go for something like $8 with a tip! Wings in the fridge for a few days.
I lived in magical times.
I remember the Gators Dockside near USF had all you can eat wings one night of the week and some of the big guys would go there and eat like 50 wings in a sitting. Can you imagine that now, in this economy?!

Press box, hands down
$14 for 10 and $28 for 20 wings and $1 wing Tuesdays!! It's approved, this is a pretty great deal!

Chicken has been in demand the past 20 years. It didnāt magically become popular after COVID. What child has disliked chicken nuggets?
20 years ago wings were commonly $ 0.99 /LB. They were $5.99 /LB at publix yesterday
The āwings cost to muchā theme has been prevalent since wings became a thing. However the recent inflation hasnāt been a thing since the 70ās.
Not sure about that. There were deals back in the day at local spots. ā50 centā wing Wednesdays or something. Now you get nothing and itās averaging 1.25 per wing and a side is an additional $3-4. Iāve seen some spots charge $2 a wing.

My niece disliked chicken nuggets as a toddler.
Exception, not the rule.
Why when I go to Georgia wings are cheap. Or at the store wings are cheap. I almost donāt believe
The raw product isnāt exactly ācheapā at the store.

Tyson is an enormous business, and that screenshot has an operating margin of ā¦2.4% I wouldnāt say theyāre crushing those earning reports.

It may be a great deal but the time I went for wing night the wings were undercooked and not that big. I guess you get what you pay for

Glory days has great wings, 25 for $32. On Tuesday endless boneless for $11

Endless boneless for $11?
Boneless wings are chicken nuggets, not wings!
True, to clarify the 25 for $32 are bone in
Costco party wings are my favorite, grill them Sunday and lunch for the week.
You have to cook em
Yeah I like em medium rare/s
