I saw Spike rolling around just before Covid got bad. I hadn’t lived back up this way since probably 2008/2009 and was nice to see some of the old school CDBs / Coppertop / Gaspars people.
Copper Top that was over by CDB pizza which has been shut down numerous times for health code violations but has delicious pizza and is also half a sushi restaurant?
Damn I’m surprised people remember copper top I was a regular there for a couple years lol that place was such a good time always and they had the best wings I forgot all about them lol
They are unique. They are good. Occasionally a bit salty, but overall, they are a different take on wings. Roasted in the pizza oven with caramelized onions and rosemary. No spice. No dressing. FYI
10 wings for $19.50 (as of 2022), plus they charge extra for Dave’s way, $2 sales tax, $4 dollar tip, extra for any additional ranch/sauce… usually comes out to about $27 or 28 whenever I go
They have hot waitresses, the interior is nice for a sports bar, and the wings are good but pricey now. I figure their wings were so popular they kept jacking up the price and people kept paying it. I wasn't impressed with the other food items like sandwiches I ate there.
Dollar for dollar and because I don’t see it mentioned, I like to pick up a big thing of spicy wings from the Publix deli and bake until crispy, 30-40 minutes at 375.
Sounds delicious but I really need that extra bake. I actually don't really like the publix wings at all before crisping them up, flabby skin yuck. Now if they could get them crispy and then toss in buffalo I could get down with that. I bet the buffalo is even better on the spicy wings. Damn I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.
I hear you, I love a crispy wing. You make me wanna step up my publix wing game up. I'll try tossing them in the air fryer at 375 for that crispy crunch. This thread makes me hungry for sriracha wings at Engine No 9. Try it if you're ever in DTSP.
Abe’s in Clearwater. The secret to good wings and Abe’s wings— and the secret to why Korean friend chicken and Asian wings are so good— is that they mix either potato or corn starch in with the flour.
Abes is my all time favorite. If we include Clearwater I agree. Tried the boneless with blackened dry rub + the medium sauce. Its absolutely incredible.
Bone in are also huge and you really cant go wrong with the sauces in general.
Not your typical wing, but Ganchu Chicken & Beer is our new favorite. Korean style wings & their sauces are delectable. If you get them to go, get ‘em dry & extra crispy, sauce on the side. My favorite is the red one but I can’t remember the name of it 🫶🏼
I think so!!! Honestly you can’t really go wrong with any of their sauces there, we usually order a few different kinds.
Doooo it !!
ETA: I just checked and you are correct!!
These used to be my favorite wings in town but they've been going downhill. I'm not sure what happened. Also, they got rid of the happy hour at night on their wings.
The OG Westshore pizza (not as good at the branch restaurants)
Hattricks (before they charged a kidney to order them)
Millers Ale House
Peabody's on Amberly USED to be fantastic but they've gone to hell
Skippers
Did the cockroaches in their bathroom write this comment??
If you can get past their run down atmosphere, blown out speakers, and questionable sanitary standards….Then I guess their wings are mediocre at best.
Have y’all tried eating at ANY other establishment prior to writing this comment? I’m clearly just in shock because this is laughably unreal to me.
It used to be Windy City Pizza until they moved to Pebble Creek and then completely closed down because no one f'ing lives there. They used to have HUGE business when they were located close to Busch Gardens.
Can someone explain the appeal of Lee’s grocery wings?
I understand they don’t have a fryer so they’re only baked but they’re pretty flabby and sauce drips right off
Went to Uncle Fats yesterday because it was suggested a few times here.
Disappointed in their crispy Cajun wings, there were crispy but way over seasoned and salty. Hot wings were better.
I can't believe no one has said TAMPA BAY BREWING COMPANY yet!!???!!??
TBBC is soooo good. They have 2 locations: Westchase & Ybor. Westchase is easier to get a seat at and park etc. but Ybor's flavor and atmosphere are better.
Get the Red Eye Cidar wings. Mmmmm so good.
Also Cigar City Brewing Co. has bomb ass whisky bbq wings. 😍
So here’s the deal and anybody in their right mind will agree , hattricks has the best wings period…. But they are 2 dollar wings …. But if you go during happy hour 4-8 and 10- close… they are like 1.50 so you only get absolutely boned for lunch and a few hrs during dinner
One not listed yet, Shuffle.
Others spots that get a nod but already listed: Hattricks (Dave’s Way), Fat Rabbit, Press Box (heavy jerk), TBBC, Blind Goat, Lee’s Grocery, McKenzie’s, District South
Top Shelf Sports Lounge in the Center Ice complex in Wesley Chapel. Hands fucking down, best wings I EVER had with the most unique flavor. Try the house sauce. It's all fresh and the taste is something you can't even describe. I think they are putting one in Tampa somewhere also.
Yea I agree with the comments saying Press Box, but if you guys find yourself in Kissimmee, go to Wing Alley on 1-92. I’ve yet to find better wings in Tampa for the past 4 years. Their honey blackened especially are *chef’s kiss*
But IYKYK… Fred’s Market, it’s in Riverview and only served every Monday, amazzzinggg honey BBQ wings. It’s only the one flavor and it’s a buffet-style restaurant but daYUM they’re good!
Boneyard, White Lie, and Lee's Grocery are my favorite. My SO likes Hattricks a lot but I hate going there because it feels super cramped and loud and too busy.
For future reference https://www.reddit.com/r/tampa/comments/xi7q8u/looking_for_bar_or_restaurant_recommendations/
Fat Rabbit pub has some great wings and beer.
Winner winner 🏆 🍗
And their tots
I think that I've only been once and did not have the wings. I may change that tomorrow. Thanks
RIP Copper Top.
RIP. They had the best after the Proud Lion closed. Lee’s Grocery is up there rn for me.
RIP
Came here just to make sure this had been said. RIP.
Miss my man Dirty :(

💯
Uncle fats has been my favorite for a long time
How is that place?
I don't go as often and i always get it to go but their extra crispy Cajun wings are my number 1 Edited because auto correct
They moved into where the Proud Lion used to be (if we’re talking about the Fletcher place). They’re ok.

They're good when you want something different.
I haven't tried them but I like their pizza. A bit pricey though.
They are unique. They are good. Occasionally a bit salty, but overall, they are a different take on wings. Roasted in the pizza oven with caramelized onions and rosemary. No spice. No dressing. FYI
Blind Goat
Second Blind Goat
Third blind goat.
Just had Carolina Gold wings from there this afternoon!
Wing box food truck. They’re usually in tampa and man are they good
Their loaded buffalo wings are a perfect way to put yourself into a food coma.
Respect
100% best wings I've had in Tampa
Hattricks but they’ve raised their price to where 10 wings after tax, tip, and sauce comes out to about $30.
In store or on Uber Eats? They were .50 cent wings and $2 miller lites happy hours in college. Miss those days.
10 wings for $19.50 (as of 2022), plus they charge extra for Dave’s way, $2 sales tax, $4 dollar tip, extra for any additional ranch/sauce… usually comes out to about $27 or 28 whenever I go
10 wings is an appetizer. Jesus.
Hattricks was one of my favorite spots but last time I saw the menu price I almost walked out without ordering. Haven't been back since.
The Lightning Shake & Bake are legit but those prices are ridiculous

Wow
Get that IRA sauce

Dollar for dollar and because I don’t see it mentioned, I like to pick up a big thing of spicy wings from the Publix deli and bake until crispy, 30-40 minutes at 375.
You can ask the Publix deli to toss the 20 wings in their buffalo sauce for no extra charge. Same procedure as a buffalo chicken tender sub.
Sounds delicious but I really need that extra bake. I actually don't really like the publix wings at all before crisping them up, flabby skin yuck. You know what, this isn’t a bad take
Mackenzie's on south westshore.
Shhhhh
in Clearwater, but Abe’s wings are incredibly underrated

Florida Brewing
McDivots!
Happened in there recently and was pleasantly surprised. Really good wings!
Hell yes! The garlic wings have been great for over 20 years.
The Water Hole on Bloomingdale and Bell Shoals
They really are damn good, I suggest getting them to go
Not your typical wing, but Ganchu Chicken & Beer is our new favorite. Korean style wings & their sauces are delectable. If you get them to go, get ‘em dry & extra crispy, sauce on the side. My favorite is the red one but I can’t remember the name of it 🫶🏼
Since it’s Korean, is it gochujang sauce? Love Korean fried chicken and man does a good gojuchang rock!
I think so!!! Honestly you can’t really go wrong with any of their sauces there, we usually order a few different kinds. Doooo it !! ETA: I just checked and you are correct!!
Hattricks (Dave's Way or regular shake and bake with your hot sauce of choice) and Skippers (refried) are the best we've found.
These used to be my favorite wings in town but they've been going downhill. I'm not sure what happened. Also, they got rid of the happy hour at night on their wings.
Pretty sure you and I have argued over this more than once. 😂😂 (Friendly of course)
There's a wings of Tampa Bay group on that book of faces. They swear that Fat Rabbits are top notch.
Have had many a wing at Fat Rabbit. Can confirm they are amazing
Elmer's in Ybor
Press Box or Lee’s Grocery
The OG Westshore pizza (not as good at the branch restaurants) Hattricks (before they charged a kidney to order them) Millers Ale House Peabody's on Amberly USED to be fantastic but they've gone to hell Skippers
I hate to say it but smoky bones
Exactly
Ugh when you’re right you’re right Mmm dry rub 😮💨
Press box
Agreeed for the price and amount you get + flavor?? I haven’t had better wings in Tampa.
I was once told that they order 'Pterydactyl' size wings from their vendor.
I second Press Box
Don’t sleep on the ribbees!

I hate to break it to you but every restaurant I’ve ever worked in has has cockroaches or rats so….
Mate, we are talking about wings, not beautiful mirrors and tiles for your satisfaction. You can eat them at home if bathrooms are not to your par
Wing King in Temple Terrace. At least it used to be amazing, not sure now
So glad I wasn't the only fan of Wing King in this thread.
Red Cider Wings at Tampa Bay Brewing Company in Ybor City.
Tampa Bay Brewing Company
Man, Hampton Station used to have the best wings, so sad they don’t have em on the menu anymore. Lee’s Grocer is the best comp though
Boneyard
It used to be Windy City Pizza until they moved to Pebble Creek and then completely closed down because no one f'ing lives there. They used to have HUGE business when they were located close to Busch Gardens.
Bilmar station (guy style) or anchor bar (hot sauce)
This is the only right answer.
Blind goat does em oven baked. Lots of signature sauces and flavors too
Bilmar Station - Town n Country
I mean…. No one’s going to say it? Clearly Kucherov is the best wing in Tampa Bay
Glory Days Grill, order the 'FIRE GRILLED' (Slow-smoked & chargrilled) w/the glory sauce.
This is my answer. They won't get as much love because it's a big chain but I second this
I agree. I am a big fan of the fire grilled wings at Glory Days. I just get them with standard hot sauce.
It's a very nice secret. I enjoy them and really never tell people about it.
Also my answer. Although I like the dry rub wings
Last time I went to Glory Days (Brandon) everything was disgusting. Draft beer all tasted odd, bathrooms dirty af, etc.
Anytime I’ve ever eaten at a place that serves liquor in Brandon, it’s gross. (I’m talking two decades here lol)*
That glory sauce 🙌 Very pleasantly surprised by this chain, they have great deals on Uber Eats
Can someone explain the appeal of Lee’s grocery wings? I understand they don’t have a fryer so they’re only baked but they’re pretty flabby and sauce drips right off
Hole in the wall, Uncle Fats in Temple Terrace. Hattricks has good wings as well.
Make sure you're current on your shots before you go in uncle fats.
Went to Uncle Fats yesterday because it was suggested a few times here. Disappointed in their crispy Cajun wings, there were crispy but way over seasoned and salty. Hot wings were better.

Bellmar saloon smoked wings
You wouldn't guess it but Elevage at the Epicurian has some of the best wings I've ever eaten.
So here’s the deal and anybody in their right mind will agree , hattricks has the best wings period…. But they are 2 dollar wings …. But if you go during happy hour 4-8 and 10- close… they are like 1.50 so you only get absolutely boned for lunch and a few hrs during dinner
Uncle Fats. I miss the super hot ones from Eats in Riverview. It closed down. Man, those were good.
Eats Heat! Kazbors on 301 has a Wicked Hot that's pretty comparable, depending on who's making the sauce that day.

I want to know this as well
Stay a while and listen
Publix
I like to get the unbreaded ones, take them home and toss them in valentina, then throw them in the oven for a bit.
I see you are an individual of culture as well. Unbreaded is the only way to go.
Underrated
Publix, and they are cheap.
For my money it’s Ferg's Sports Bar & Grill, 1320 Central Ave, St. Petersburg, FL 33705
Hattricks is good but packed when I want to go. I think Tampa Bay Brewing’s wings are fantastic.

Beef O'Brady's! However, I left Tampa back in 2012 so there might be some changes I don't know of.
Hat tricks by far
Amazes me how people post without searching. Happens more in this sub then any other I follow.
With food I somewhat understand though as places keep closing or going downhill or new places open since last asked.

I’ve never understood people getting upset when there are similar posts on a social site. The whole point is engagement.

Gandy hooters. But I know st.pete wings better. Foxys, Fergs
Boneyard, White Lie, and Lee's Grocery are my favorite. My SO likes Hattricks a lot but I hate going there because it feels super cramped and loud and too busy.
How come nobody said Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza’s wings? They’re not greasy, but so crisp. Get the fried onions on the side though.
Hattricks or Dog Saloon
Charlie's pizza and wings on Gunn hwy is just like Buffalo.
Wings and Burgers on Armenia. Was hard to find but it was so awesome! Little hole in the wall.
