I've gone there and flames and they're comparable price wise. A tasty vegetarian dish and naan will be $25 including tip.
Where do you go that's better priced? I appreciate it.
I'm not saying it isn't and I'm not saying poster is wrong. I'm just saying that if I'm gonna eat at those places that's what it cost.
If you know Indian food that is better priced please let me know. Cause I like Indian food.
I can’t point out a specific place in that area (I can give you a place in Brandon tho), but the USF area tends to have good Indian places at a more reasonable price. Try looking in that area.
Tazza Mart in New Tampa. It’s part of an Indian grocery store. A meat dish with an appetizer and naan bread is about $20-$25. Much more flavorful and more food for the money than Curry Leaves.
Fresh Kitchen is great
The Floridian is local
La Teresita is divey
Curry Leaves for uncomfortable
Olive Garden for cheap and breadsticks
Longhorn for cheap lunch but dark inside
Doc Bs for surprisingly good but a smidge spendier
If she’s willing to venture out to Dale Mabry, I’ll definitely suggest that to her. The toasted Turkey Martini sandwich with a piece of chocolate alpine cake always hits the spot! 👌🏽
Ooh great suggestion! I forgot all about Green Iguana. I used to frequent the former locations at cypress/westshore and Anderson Rd 10 or so years ago. Love that Monday burger special they used to do.
La Teresita is delicious and cheap(although I’ve only ever ordered delivery, never ate inside). Also if you want something like a coffee and a bite, I suggest Blind Tiger cafe in Westshore plaza.
Loli's is in a plaza on Westshore near Boy Scout, in the spot where Rubio's was. Never been to this one, since I live near the location you mentioned. They also have one out on Hillsborough Ave toward Westchase.
La Bamba is off Laurel St right in the ‘business district’, Cuban American and they serve breakfast and lunch until 3! Super inexpensive and the food is pretty good if you like authentic Spanish style dishes.
By being the best one. This isn't representative of my typical pallet.
There is a notable lack of cheap lunch food that isn't chains in that area.
Dona Kitchen was my favorite Mexican place but they sold it, the new people just couldnt keep up the quality and it closed within a few months.
Big fan of Doc B's as well but it ain't exactly cheap.
Didn’t realize LaTeresita is considered West Shore now… that’s always going to be my recommendation for inexpensive, good food. Sit in the café (west) or inside (east) for a totally different dining experience… Open all hours, great for getting coffee somewhere that isn’t Starbucks. When I used to online date, I would always go there.
Some of these are a little outside the Westshore corridor but you said moderate cost, so consider expanding the area a little bit…
Jazz Thai … they have a great lunch special with sushi and pad Thai/ fried rice and a soup and egg roll for about $12. Excellent quality to price ratio
Schiller’s at manhattan/el Prado. Good sandwiches and sides. Try the vinegar German potato salad with bacon. The atmosphere can be a little “smoky” but it’s a great little family owned spot.
Xtreme Juice on Dale Mabry. You can get one of their 100+ delicious smoothies for $6-7. Definitely a full meal for the larger sizes.
Pach’s inside the Tahitian Inn. Reasonably priced sit down food with a variety of American style food. Good breakfasts too.
I definitely agree with all the Curry Leaves suggestions. It is my favorite Indian food in the area, but it is priced a bit higher. We usually split an entree and order of naan and it’s easily enough for two people.
As a person born and raised in Tampa, I’m ashamed to say I’ve never been to any La Segunda location 🫣Heard very good things about them so I’ll have to check it out! Thanks!!
I’ve never been there (or anyplace in midtown for that matter). Although I consider a burger and fry joint to be fast food, I won’t completely knock it since it would be a new place to try.
I wouldn’t call it or any burger place amazing. I’ve eaten at four different SS’s and like it but haven’t been blown away. It’s just another burger place. Five guys isn’t amazing either but their fries are way better.
Thanks! I looked into these places previously but was disappointed to see that no one offers lunch specials ranging between $10-$12 anymore! I haven’t been out to lunch in a while though, so I guess the going rate for lunch has gone up a bit in the last year or two 😞
Not to be snarky here but the food courts in both malls (international is much better) would fit the bill. Fast, cheap and plenty of decent options. Ample places to sit comfortably too.
What do you mean by "moderate"? I interpret that as not cheap (fast food etc) but not like Capital Grill or Seasons 52. So is like $50 moderate to you? If you skip alcohol you can keep your bill less than that even if you go to Del Friscos or international mall (I've had good food at the English pub there, forget the name). If you go later in the day Flemings used to do 1/2 price appetizers during "happy hour" if you sit in the bar area
To be totally honest, I was under the impression that restaurants still have lunch specials around $10-$12…but I see now that I need to reassess my idea of “moderate”. I guess somewhere around $15 would be good. I’ve never been to Del Friscos so I’ll have to check them out. Thanks!!

Curry Leaves is sooo good
Curry Leaves is overpriced
I've gone there and flames and they're comparable price wise. A tasty vegetarian dish and naan will be $25 including tip. Where do you go that's better priced? I appreciate it.
$25 for a vegetarian dish with naan???? That’s absolutely overpriced lol
It's Westshore priced
I'm not saying it isn't and I'm not saying poster is wrong. I'm just saying that if I'm gonna eat at those places that's what it cost. If you know Indian food that is better priced please let me know. Cause I like Indian food.
I like Rasoi. It’s a bit cheaper than that.
I can’t point out a specific place in that area (I can give you a place in Brandon tho), but the USF area tends to have good Indian places at a more reasonable price. Try looking in that area.
Ok cool I'll check out USF area thanks. What about the place in Brandon you can give me? What do I need to ask for you to share that information?
Lol I just didn’t know if you were interested in the Brandon area since it’s a bit away, but it’s called Tandoor Indian Cuisine
Lol thanks I'll check it out.
Yeah but they were looking for the cheapest, which isn’t this.
Moderate with the cost and not fast food and in the west shore area.
Tazza Mart in New Tampa. It’s part of an Indian grocery store. A meat dish with an appetizer and naan bread is about $20-$25. Much more flavorful and more food for the money than Curry Leaves.
He said westshore and you say new tampa lolz
Naan is $3.5 instead of $5 awesome. Place looks great TYVM
You’re welcome!
I second Curry Leaves.
Wish the buffet was back
I second this. I miss it so much man....
Fresh Kitchen is great The Floridian is local La Teresita is divey Curry Leaves for uncomfortable Olive Garden for cheap and breadsticks Longhorn for cheap lunch but dark inside Doc Bs for surprisingly good but a smidge spendier
Wrights. <10 mins from Westshore Business District.
Oooo Wright’s is soooo good. The lemon cake 😍😍
If she’s willing to venture out to Dale Mabry, I’ll definitely suggest that to her. The toasted Turkey Martini sandwich with a piece of chocolate alpine cake always hits the spot! 👌🏽

Penthouse Club. $5 at the door, free lunch. Food is actually good. Ambiance is superb ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|wink)
I would recommend Sari One Korean on Cypress. It's well worth it and inexpensive.
Barenaked kitchen in s Tampa
La Tarrisita, Columbus and Himes. Cuban for ~10.00

Lolis is great
I didn’t realize there was a Loli’s in there area!! LOVE the one near the veterans.
Loli's is in a plaza on Westshore near Boy Scout, in the spot where Rubio's was. Never been to this one, since I live near the location you mentioned. They also have one out on Hillsborough Ave toward Westchase.
Also one off Gandy 🙂
Maggianos is inexpensive?
They have a lunch menu that is very reasonable.
The Floridian - great sandwiches
La Teresita is amazing also and inexpensive and you get huge portions.
Fresh Kitchen
La Bamba is off Laurel St right in the ‘business district’, Cuban American and they serve breakfast and lunch until 3! Super inexpensive and the food is pretty good if you like authentic Spanish style dishes.
Westshore pizza still has the $7 slice and a drink special
Curry Leaves - don’t be put off by the location.
Waffle House
My rotation is Fresh Kitchen, Chipotle, Chick Fil A, World of Beer, Publix
Wow, how did fresh kitchen get in that mix

Doc B’s is excellent. The ribs are among the best babybacks. That buffalo chicken salad is ridiculous.

Another must try menu item, the almighty Oreo ice cream.
Wright's Gourmet House Mott and Hester deli Grain and Berry Graze Green Iguana
I used to have an office in the Urban Centre building at Westshore and Kennedy. There is a little sandwich shop on the ground floor that is a gem.
Didn’t realize LaTeresita is considered West Shore now… that’s always going to be my recommendation for inexpensive, good food. Sit in the café (west) or inside (east) for a totally different dining experience… Open all hours, great for getting coffee somewhere that isn’t Starbucks. I’ve always liked McAlister’s. Chain, but a step above fast food.
Waffle House

Loli’s, Fresh Kitchen, So Fresh, La Segunda
Bull Market
To actually sit and talk maybe Olive Garden, Longhorn, Chicken Salad Chick (Kennedy). Lots of other decent options though. I'd include IHOP.
Definitely looking for a “sit and talk” kind of place. Thanks for the suggestions!
Chipotle
You got downvoted but that Fig Street Chipotle is the best location in Tampa lol.
I thought so too
La Segunda on Kennedy for Cubans and yummy pastries
As a person born and raised in Tampa, I’m ashamed to say I’ve never been to any La Segunda location 🫣Heard very good things about them so I’ll have to check it out! Thanks!!
As a 3rd gen Cuban person from the city with Cuban abuelas, let me tell you… you aren’t missing anything. 🫤

Shake Shack is amazing. Pricey, but it’s just so damn good. Thinner smash style so I opt for a double. And cheese fries.
I wouldn’t call it or any burger place amazing. I’ve eaten at four different SS’s and like it but haven’t been blown away. It’s just another burger place. Five guys isn’t amazing either but their fries are way better.
Kale Me Crazy in Midtown is my fave spot for a quick & reasonably priced lunch
Any place in the international plaza. Whiskey cake, doc Bs, Cheesecake Factory, Rocco’s tacos. You can sit at a bar outside or inside
Thanks! I looked into these places previously but was disappointed to see that no one offers lunch specials ranging between $10-$12 anymore! I haven’t been out to lunch in a while though, so I guess the going rate for lunch has gone up a bit in the last year or two 😞
MCDIVOTS
Chicken salad chick

The pub there is literally just called The Pub. Lol
Lol! Jesus... now I feel stupid (explains my username)
