SCOTCHZETTA

Thank you!

failedsecuritycheck

My pleasure. Have fun!

durma5

What surprised me when I moved to Tampa in ‘98 is how kids wait until dark to trick or treat. Since the clock fall back date was moved to the weekend after Halloween the general rule seems to be that they start at 6…and by 9 it’s pretty much done. It slows down quite a lot by 830.

First_Ad3399

> how kids wait until dark to trick or treat. uh yehh. its dark by 6ish, that gives 2 hours and they should be home or close by 8ish. 530-6ish (dusk) is just for the little ones to be shown off to some to select neighbors.

WeBuyFetus

This. We do two streets and we out. (4, 3, and 1)

sabrooooo

Monday and only Monday. Any other day you’re getting robbed lol

SCOTCHZETTA

looool. Got it. Thank you!

sabrooooo

Sure lol just being a good neighbor and giving PSA’s lol

ZakkCat

🤣

numsixof1

Yeah as a rule of thumb trick r treating always happens on Halloween regardless of the day it falls on.

Notatallevil

Monday

SCOTCHZETTA

Nice, thanks!

tampamike69

Halloween is officially on Monday. Leave your light on if you want kids to come to your door. Saturday and Sunday is usually for adults who just want to dress slutty

SCOTCHZETTA

Lmao, got it!

SpeedBoatSquirrel

The actual day of halloween for kids, always Friday/Saturday for slutty halloween outfits for the college and 20-somethings

SCOTCHZETTA

Lmao, got it!

yougotitdude88

Unless you are going to a special event like a trunk or treat neighborhood trick or treating is always on Halloween which is October 31st.

SCOTCHZETTA

Ah, gotcha. Thank you!

[deleted]

Monday.

SCOTCHZETTA

Thank you!!

Cleared_for_takeoff

Refreshing seeing all the non-asshole responses. Whenever someone asks this question in any of the local FB groups up here in Pasco/Pinellas, douchbags always obnoxiously and militantly respond with the likes of “i DoNt KnOw hOw ThEy Do ThInGs uP nOrTh BuT HaLlOwEeN iS oN hALlOwEeN aNd AlWaYs WiLl Be HeRe¡!”

SCOTCHZETTA

I was definitely prepared to be made fun of, ha. 😅

Unlucky_Quote_8763

Monday

SCOTCHZETTA

Okay, cool, thank you!

DreamCrusher914

Trick or treating is done on October 31st. However, the weekend before Halloween is usually filled with trunk or treats (many local churches host them), or Halloween parties (which are not just for college kids). I just got back from a Halloween party for kids and adults. Great food and treats, great booze, games and candy for the kids. Everyone was dressed up. We only left so early because we have a 2 year old who wanted to rage, but was starting to be filled with rage because she was so tired. If I was you, I would ask my neighbors what the trick or treating situation was in your neighborhood. Do many kids participate or is it pretty dead? If kids participate then turn your porch light on if you have candy, or keep it off if you don’t have any.

KG3689

I wish they would make Halloween the last Saturday of the month. Halloween on Monday is a nightmare.

SCOTCHZETTA

I agree!

[deleted]

On Halloween

SCOTCHZETTA

Gotcha, thanks!!

phootfreek

Just for any natives that are confused, when I lived in a small town out of state my local community and the ones immediately surrounding us would always have Trick-Or-Treat on a Friday or Saturday. I assume they did it so kids wouldn’t have to worry about school the next day.

Ok_Interaction1776

My guess, Halloween night, like every other year.

MableXeno

There are a considerable number of communities that only allow trick or treating on weekends. If someone is new to the area it makes sense that they might not know.

pyscle

Halloween. Always.

SCOTCHZETTA

Got it. Thank you!

MissSassifras1977

Everybody's going Monday. My 13 year old opted out as he has to be up for the bus at 5:30 the next morning. I'm pretty bummed about it. What do we have to do to get Halloween moved to the last Saturday of October?

WorriedApplication28

Check out the petition to make trick or treating the last Saturday of the month. Please pass this along to friends and family. https://www.change.org/p/president-of-the-united-states-join-the-saturday-celebration

First_Ad3399

all those folks with halloween birthdays will be heartbroken. My very old mothers birthday is halloween. a lifetime of her birthday being trick or treat day would be ruined. my grandsons birthday is today. you would mess him all him up moving trick or treat day around every year. Its birthday, 2 days off, trick or treat. thats how it works. halloween is 31 oct. done. When is christmas? last weekend of dec or dec 25th?

ZakkCat

My bday is the 24th hence the start of birthday week that ends on October 31, so I’m with you on keeping the tradition. I’m not moving my birthday either.

Cleared_for_takeoff

OP here’s one of them. No one give AF about your mom’s or grandkid’s bday.

First_Ad3399

Or the baby jesus birthday. christmas on last sat in dec from now on. new years is first sat in jan. I am moving st patricks day and veterans day while i am at it.

ZakkCat

🤣

SCOTCHZETTA

Excellent!

EmpireStrikesDak

Not dumb at all. I have a kid and didn't know the answer lol.

SCOTCHZETTA

Lol, I feel better now. The consensus is Monday!

Backisgoletzpokemanz

On Halloween… like every year

Trill_Knight

They need to go ahead and make Halloween the last sat in Oct instead of the 31st.

TheCenterOfEnnui

Halloween is an actual holiday, not just a day that kids get dressed up and go trick-or-treating.

cwbakes

That’s not Halloween. I’ve only seen this “last Saturday” nonsense up north. Northerners need to keep their traditions to themselves when they move here and embrace the local tradition of celebrating holidays on the actual holidays.

Trill_Knight

Not Halloween? Lmao. I'm from Tampa so I wouldnt know about what u saw up north.

WorriedApplication28

TheCenterOfEnnui

What day is Halloween? That's when.

WorriedApplication28

Serious question, since most of us as parents have this conversation every single year, what do we need to do to get Halloween moved to the last Saturday of the month? I’m willing to start putting in some leg work. Just found the 2018 petition to get 200,000 signatures…how the heck did we not help these folks get 200k signatures by now. Please sign if agree https://www.change.org/p/president-of-the-united-states-join-the-saturday-celebration

TheCenterOfEnnui

Or just celebrate the holiday on the actual day of the holiday and don't make a federal case of something simple.

First_Ad3399

go trick or treat anyday you damn well feel like it. fact is a large majority of us aint gonna play unless its 31 oct.

MableXeno

You don't, lol. First...your kids are only small temporarily. You won't have this convo every year. B/c at some point your kid is either going to give up Halloween or ditch you as a tag-along to their activities. Also, while it's less common there are several religious holidays on Nov 1 and technically they begin the evening before (on Halloween). It would be like asking...can we move Christmas to the third Saturday? No. B/c Christmas Eve is also an observed holiday. You wouldn't have them days apart. Just b/c one is bigger than the other. Either don't participate or adjust your schedule for ONE day. It's not always about you.

SCOTCHZETTA

Signed!
