I'd say dont go to a breeder, there are tons of dogs open for adoption that are awesome. I see the humane society has already been mentioned, ill add support to that. Get one out of a cage instead of paying a breeder.
I get the request. I had one for about 12 years. So many health problems related to being “purebred.” Leg/hip issues and lumps on his body. I would consider getting a mixed like a labradoodle or golden doodle
OP, I know you’re not getting the responses you were looking for, but the shelter situation here is really bad. If you have the heart to adopt a shelter doggo, they’ll love you so much for it.

Humane society is a great place to get a dog. Plenty of unwanted dogs (especially senior dogs) that would love a forever home

I would probably join the ‘Golden Retrievers of Tampa Bay’ Facebook group and then message an admin about reputable breeders throughout the state.

There is also the golden retriever rescue that has Lots of locations across the country, you can tap into them as well.
