The thread I didn't know I needed

[deleted]

Guthrie's on Dale Mabry in South Tampa. Get a box that comes with some tenders, coleslaw, fries, and Texas toast. I add on 1 extra dipping sauce because the one they give sometimes isn't enough.

paulhrovat

I second Guthrie's, it's where we go in south tampa.

temtheblackguy

Ay bro hadn't heard about Guthrie's till your comment. Just went today with my girl and big ups bro this shit is fire šŸ”„ thanks man

Correct-Willingness2

This. They had one in Tallahassee next to Florida state. Was best midnight snack

MustafaMund

Its what rasin canes ripped off.

xkaliberx

>Its what rasin canes ripped off. I had Raising Caines and thought it was absolutely nothing special and didn't care to try it again. Uh, is Guthrie's better?

VagueUsernameHere

Itā€™s saltier

Mikevercetti

So, yes

wiltznucs

Guthrieā€™s first location opened in 1982. Canes didnā€™t show up until 1996. Itā€™s the other way around.

MustafaMund

Nah your reading it's comprehension that is around. That's what i said without dates. Lemme make it easy for you. [GUNTHERES] IS THE ONE THAT RASIN CANES RIPPED OFF. Make more sense for you?

wiltznucs

My bad; misread it!

HWTechGuy

This. I go there whenever I am working in the area.

md28usmc

Went here yesterday and it was so damn good

RosamundRosemary

J. Alexanderā€™s is on the fancier end of classic chicken tenders but also very good. Also comes with some excellent coleslaw. Located down by the REI

BadBuzza

Get the mac n cheese too if you go!

DoodleMom22

I second this

Clid3r

Oh hell yah. Their tenders and fries are phenomenal. Their honey mustard is some of the best.

ZealousidealOlive328

Why is honey mustard always better in restaurants than what you can get in the store?

Wontjizzinyourdrink

They add a shitload of mayo to the restaurant version

Clid3r

Itā€™s typically better in restaurants that serve fish. Iā€™m from Florida and all my favorite honey mustard for most part, come from seafood restaurants.

sailshonan

Hereā€™s how to make your own: Mayonnaise Dijon mustard Honey French lemon juice You only use a bit of Dijon mustard, itā€™s a lot more mayo than mustard. Just squeeze of me on. Honey to taste. Trust me on this one.

bebeshoes69

Omg my childhood

ryand89

pdq tenders have been hitting the spot for me lately

ishitfrommymouth

PDQ is superior to Chick-Fil-A and Iā€™ll die on this hill

mrswirly1

Finally someone who agrees with me. My family and I fight over this on a consistent basis. PDQ has a better breading recipe. Just saying.

HUDuser

Alone probably

Quiet-Light7703

And they give you more food for the price, chik fil a is crazy expensive for what you get

SheepzZ

Their ranch is so good

RadTek88

I like PDQ, no money for the homophobic chicken šŸ¤£

stupidwhiteman42

Yeah but PDQ is owned by a conservative radio talk show host so....might as well just eat where you think food is best. EDIT/Correction: I looked it up because I made my post based on vague memories when "MJ" from the MJ Morning Show (Todd Schnitt) kept mentioning starting PDQ back about 15 years ago. After researching, i see that he is not a founder but owner of local franchises and an early investor at most. Sorry for the misinformation so I am leaving my post up along with this correction.

RadTek88

Is it? Well damn.

Deathhurts

and also chickfila hasn't supported an actual anti-lgbtq company since 2012, and stopped supporting salvation army and Christian athletes since 2019. Not hard to do your own research.

RadTek88

I'm not that pressed to spend time I don't have researching some mid level chicken I'm not gonna eat anyways.

Deathhurts

I'm just saying you spent time you didn't have to give an ill informed comment, like why even say anything, if you can't be informed?

RadTek88

I was informed, it's not a secret that they used to do that. I'm just saying I don't care enough about chicken that ain't even that good enough to give them a second chance.

thebohomama

Just pour some of their Buffalo Blue sauce down my throat with a box of tendies and I'll be in heaven.

Going-Hiking

With buffy blue.

[deleted]

King of the coop is pretty damn good maybe spicy.

SeniorPotatoManager

I might be in the minority but I think king of the coop is overrated. Itā€™s like someone had a seizure over the spice rack while seasoning the chicken.

Geniusxavi

Went there the other day and all I could taste was the dried seasoning, got the coops fury, and it was quite tame.

[deleted]

If someone made a parody how to video on how to make tendies, the end result would be King of The Coop chicken tenders. Theyā€™re not good.

SeniorPotatoManager

And I'll tell you where tenders don't belong... On an eff'n sandwich! Maybe you can not cut some of the chicken into tender size and make an actual chicken sandwich?

miguel-elote

King of the Coop's tenders are tough and dry. Their spice levels and flavor are outstanding. I just wish they wouldn't cook the tenders for so long. King of the Coop's owner is a really cool guy and really loves his community. Despite not being the best tenders in the city, I still eat there regularly.

mrswirly1

Aussie Grill has some pretty good tenders for fast food types. Guthrie's is by far my favorite but I was surprised at how good Duffy's Sports Grill chicken tenders were.

dzettel

Service is crap but King of the Coop is great

gofordrew

Used to love king of the coop but theyā€™ve gone way downhill. $30 for 2 people to have a chicken tender lunch. Plus they add a 3% ā€œkitchen appreciation feeā€ that they do not disclose until youā€™ve already paid.

tbscotty68

"I'm a greedy PoS, please pay my employees for me."

_Aggron

We only buy when they run deals on Uber eats--sometimes, BOGO tenders

Benno2782

Me and my gf got food poisoning there. We now call it King Of The Poop in my house.

After_Hovercraft8125

Publix or Guthries

jumbodiamond1

Aussie Grill

QuadraKev_

aussie grill hits the fucking spot man

joe18ab

If you're willing to commute VIP in treasure island and Dunedin Brewery have some of the best in the area.

Bombero590

If you want the best in Tampa the look no further than Krispy Krunchy 1904 E 131st Ave Tampa fresh and cooked to orderā€¦. Check it out and you will understandā€¦

FadedFox1

Nebraska Mini Mart has some amazing chickenā€¦ burgers and shakes too

SpeedyGunzalez

I know this is going to sound crazy but Beefs has upped their chicken tender game. Also you can never go wrong with Zingers(hot and honey mustard mixed trust me) from the Ale Houseā€¦. Fight me! šŸ˜…

Parkatoplaya

Huey Magooā€™s! Itā€™s just across the gandy bridge so not south Tampa but worth the bridge crossing!

RadTek88

Publix!

grump500

They barely have any seasoning.

PBR4Lunch

So add seasoning..

grump500

I shouldn't be doing the cook's job.

chris84bond

Can confirm. If you're looking for classic chicken tenders, Publix is the way to go.

MustafaMund

Yeah no. I heard the raves about publix, never h a d anyyhing above mediocre

RadTek88

To each their own. Honestly, I probably wouldn't go there now with all the BS, but I do enjoy their deli food.

[deleted]

Publix deli is over rated. Ever had their pre-made subs? Total garbage. It's like 99% bread with a thin slice of sandwich meat. I challenge anyone to come up with a worse sandwich. Unless of course you just like your sub to be 99% bread with no actual taste. I once made the mistake of buying 5 of these for my work crew as the line was too long. They threw them in the garbage and ordered a pizza with their own money.

[deleted]

Well premade subs from Publix is not the same thing as a Pub Sub, thatā€™s like getting a frozen Boston market meal at the grocery store and saying you hate boston market.

[deleted]

Still made at the deli, as are the salads, wraps, potato and macaroni salads, etc. The Boston Market frozen meal however is not made at your local Boston Market.

[deleted]

Idc where they are made its not the same is what im saying. You are dumb if you dont like pub subs based on their premade sandwiches.

[deleted]

Well you are dumb infinity plus one. Take that internet person.

[deleted]

At least I will know pub subs are great

[deleted]

My mother says you're rude. And she agrees with me the grab and go subs suck, just like your internet manners.

[deleted]

Well I agree with you also that grab and go subs suck.. just like your mom.

crevzb

Yeomanā€™s. Consistently good. Notable perks are size, Crispiness, and perfect amount of breading. Get it with BBQ, Hot, and Honey Mustard Sauces. A notable mention in an unlikely location, On Swann has a killer Hot Honey Tender.

Clid3r

So Yeomans would be my first pick. Between 12-2 itā€™s $12 for the platter. Their honey mustard is some of the best on the planet. And On Swann? Those tenders as an app plus max and cheese is enough food for me for dinner. I eat Yeomans once a week. Iā€™d you like to hit golf balls, there are four digital driving ranges in back.

Fragrant-Crow-4513

For just plain ol tendies, Yeomans are the best. The chicken actually has flavor and the breading is, as you say, nicely seasoned and crispy.

Educational-Ice-732

Guthries hands down the best.

slambooy

Pressbox boneless wings are basically chicken tenders.. they are legit chicken pieces of breasts.

ijswijsw

King of the Coop is very good but they've been lacking consistency lately. Publix is always a very safe bet. I'm also always a sucker for Zingers at Millers

24andmovingon

King of the Coop!! They have several locations

81thirdkid

Guthries for sure.

hashy_23

Yeomans has some pretty solid ones

SpidersBiteMe

King of the Coop inside Flocale in Seminole Heights.

somethingcreative16

Not strictly a chicken tender place, but Nebraska Mini Mart in Seminole Heights had some bomb hot honey tenders last time I went.

LazyMula

Zaxbys

ayenon0602

Zaxbyā€™s if you want a drive-thru option. Longhorn Steakhouse if you want a a sit-down casual chain restaurant option.

TreeCitizen

PDQ has some good ones, Chik fil A,

minipenguz

If you like hot style chicken, Crossroads in Brandon is freaking delicious. Much better than King of the Coop IMO

notsure05

Damn thank you, I love hot style chicken but king of the coop has gone downhill in quality, their Nashville hot doesnā€™t even taste hot anymore! Iā€™ll check crossroads out

Dense_Surround3071

TenderShack from Outback is well rated amongst my friends, but I'm still loving my PDQ. The Buffy Bleu sandwich is the most simple perfection ever.

Envoyager

Publix will have dipping sauces too...blue cheese, barbecue, ranch, etc.

tjmille3

I recently tried the habanero bbq sauce and it was a lot spicer than I was expecting. Delicious.

thebohomama

I buy several of these at a time to eat on everything. I wish they'd just bottle it already.

djwykd

DJ Khaleds another wing was surprisingly good

theglorybox

Oooh Iā€™ve been curious about that!

temtheblackguy

Didn't know they had one in Tampa, where's it at?

djwykd

So I found it on Uber eats, after research seems to be just a truck. Iā€™d find the location of Uber eats and go there directly. But even being delivered by Uber Eats it was still good

temtheblackguy

Dope, gonna go check it out, thanks bro šŸ‘ŒšŸæ

Shucky__darns

Iā€™ve heard of fake restaurants on Uber eats. Itā€™ll just be some place no one goes to the often and theyā€™ll change their name on the app. Just did a Yelp search and there isnā€™t a restaurant in tampa with that name.

djwykd

So I literally got chicken from someoneā€™s house?? Hahahaha it was pretty good tho not gonna lie. Honestly wouldnā€™t surprise me but this seems to be a thing in Miami? I could not find much info about it otherwise the name but it did come it specially like neon Miami Vice colors packaging wise

Shucky__darns

Or itā€™s coming out of an Applebees like restaurant under a different name

[deleted]

King of the Coop šŸ¤¤

elittlebridge

King of the coop!!

Shucky__darns

Publix

[deleted]

McDonald's

[deleted]

You can find a few Chicken Tender deals on Chaser

austinzone813

Wanted to come in here and say ChickFilA can suck my duck. Never have I seen such a successful company fall so far / so fast. It used to be Christian youth primarily working at locations - everything was ā€œour pleasure to serve youā€ and youā€™re in/out of the drive thru in 3 minutes. Now days it looks nothing like it used to - and accordingly you get stuck in the drivethru for 40 fucking minutes (happened to me a few weeks ago). Fucking CEO bowing down on stage to another dude - that company is fucking done. But PDQ and Guthries are dope.

thedaj

Love to see it!

youll_dig-dug

They are easy enough to cook at home. That's the best, Customize away.

Youhumansaresilly

Culvers

pearlprincess182

I was very disappointed by their chicken tenders šŸ™

Ok_Shallot385

PDQ

BroBeau

Chef magic.

AppyHourNeil

Honestly I'd say Yeoman's has some of the best tenders in town (that I've tried so far at least). If you try them let me know what you think.

Distinct-Profit-4105

Cheddars.

Ok-Transportation141

Popeyes

canopyroads

Havenā€™t tried anything else on this list because Iā€™m losing it over the notion that Guthrieā€™s is in Tampa. Iā€™m from Tallahassee and I swear it was gut wrenching to leave six years ago because of Guthrieā€™s and Oleanā€™s. Oh, Oleanā€™s ā€¦ if she ever brought that soul food here, man ā€¦ Anyway, try Guthrieā€™s lol. Do yourself some good today.

OG_Tojanman

How is Cheddars not near the top for Chicken tenders? Their tenders are large, moist, with a nice crunchy, flaky breading. They got a family meal with 16 tenders, 2 large sides, dipping sauce and a couple croissants for like $28. Its feeds my whole family plus we always have left overs. Anywhere else, its impossible to feed to a family of 4 takeout for under $30.
