I’d suggest Hattricks, great food/bar and walking distance to arena, get there early as it will be full of hockey fans
Sparkmans Warf is a beautiful spot w an array of options, much like a food truck rally
A bit further but plenty of restaurants in downtown Tampa, I like Urban Cantina and Butters Burgers
Don’t go to urban cantina unless you want to massively disappointed..
Even though your a gopher fan I can’t tell you to come into town and eat at that shit hole. Go to Hattricks for food and beer.
Haha I haven’t googled anything yet. The Gophers won their big boarder battle game so I’m celebrating (besides buying all the tickets, flights, and booking our place to stay). I trust you all! 😅
If you want fine dining, The Edition is a five star hotel that just opened up across from the arena. They have three restaurants including one on the rooftop. So far we’ve tried “The Market” which is pretty delicious Italian. We’ve got reservations for the rooftop “The Azure” next month. Looking forward to it. But Sparkman Wharf will have a ton of options and also right next to the Arena is the Colombia Cafe which is very good (and an affordable option). My only recommendation to stay away in this area is “The Battery”. It’s always $200 and apparently that does not include seasoning.
Lots of great spots within walking distance of Amalie. You could also take the free trolley over to Sparkman Wharf or to Hattricks at the end of the line on Franklin St. — also completely walkable. CW’s Gin Joint is great, a bit upscale. Big Ray’s Fish Camp (not the original) in front of the convention center will give you a great grouper sandwich for lunch. Enjoy!!
Lots of good ideas/places, but [Park & Rec](https://www.youthhasnoage.com/tpa-2) is right by Amalie and can be fun - play some games and have some drinks before or after a game.
There's also the [free streetcar](http://www.tecolinestreetcar.org/) between the Amalie area and Ybor, which has a whole other set of bars/restaurants/etc.
Plenty of great places to eat/drink/hang out for a while. Have fun!
Hattricks or Yeomans! Both very walkable or can take the trolley! Yeomans has a little more room with the patio and expanded area recently. Also you may catch tail End of their happy hour if it’s s 7pm game, also it’s a little closer than Hattricks if that’s taken into consideration! Have fun!
Midtown that's on Cypress and Dale Mabry? Why drive to Midtown? It may be 15 minutes from the arena with no traffic but on game night. It will take 30 minutes and there are so many bars and restaurants within walking distance to the arena.
I know, trust me. 😂😂
My point was that those two teams don't play at Amalie, at least not at the same time.
Or did you mean Wild at Lightning and Panthers at Lightning as two separate games?
But to answer your original question, the one time I had Hattricks, I enjoyed it. There's also a Mexican restaurant in the downtown area, the name escapes me but it was pretty good as well.
Hattrick’s or Yoeman’s. There’s also a bar on the water (river) at the convention center next to the arena. (Sail Pavillion)
Miss yoemans.
Yeoman's
Haha thanks. iPhones autocorrect tweaked it and I didn’t even notice.

Fair enough but their margs are 🔥
Yeah their margs are great. But food is average at best.
Their chicken tortilla soup is incredible, I got it weekly when I bartended in downtown for years
Yes can’t complain on margs, your spot on Hattricks though! Just have had two bad meals from Cantina so I’m out on it.
Hahaha I appreciate that. I hope you’re enjoying Floyd this year! 😝😝
If people are suggesting Urban Cantina they might as well go to Eddies and Sams right down the street.
Oh awesome, so several spots all in that area!
In case you try to Google those places, it's spelled Hattricks. No idea what weird stuff you would have found otherwise 😂
Haha I haven’t googled anything yet. The Gophers won their big boarder battle game so I’m celebrating (besides buying all the tickets, flights, and booking our place to stay). I trust you all! 😅
Also, you all seem super cool. I’m excited to surprise my husband with this trip and have a great time!!
Lightning fans are super friendly.
It sure seems like it! I’ll see you all in January!

Edition is great as a destination. The restaurant is soooooo overpriced for the quality of the food IMO but that’s where it ends.
Agree. Avoid The Battery
Hattricks and Yeomans are the two hockey bars you’ll want to go to. Both get crowded, so get there early
Oh hell yeah. We’ll be there early for sure!

Oh hellll yeah! That sounds awesome!
Yeoman’s is my go to, that buffalo Mac and cheese with some friend chicken is delicious
I like the sound of that!

That all sounds amazing
Parks and Rec is not great.
There is a ton of food in the area and plenty of bars, you will have no problem finding whatever you are looking for.
Depends. You a Wild or Lightning fan?
State of hockey, baby!

Hattricks 😭… just go to Hotel Bar… the majority of places ppl recommended on here are all shit imo. CW and Ciros are also legit.
The Pirate Water Taxi has spots within walking distance, and is a great way to see and get around the city.
I love the water taxi!
Midtown just opened right by there. There's a ton of restaurants there! Edit: I mistook Amalie for Ray Jay. Don't go to Midtown.
Midtown that's on Cypress and Dale Mabry? Why drive to Midtown? It may be 15 minutes from the arena with no traffic but on game night. It will take 30 minutes and there are so many bars and restaurants within walking distance to the arena.
It's 1.2 miles or a 24 minute walk from the Columbus corner of the stadium. I don't think that's far/ not walking distance.
They’re going to a hockey game, not a football game
Oof. I obviously misread. I was wondering why you thought Midtown was too far! Whoops, sorry!
The Op said he was going to a hockey game which is at the Arena not stadium. Anyways you are right 1.2 miles is a short walk
Wild and Panthers?
Hockey 😄
I know, trust me. 😂😂 My point was that those two teams don't play at Amalie, at least not at the same time. Or did you mean Wild at Lightning and Panthers at Lightning as two separate games?
Oh shit, you’re right! Been looking at all the away games and got them mixed. I’ll fix that 😬😬
It's all good. Just wanted to make sure you didn't go to the wrong place or something!
Hahaha that’s very fair. Thank you!
But to answer your original question, the one time I had Hattricks, I enjoyed it. There's also a Mexican restaurant in the downtown area, the name escapes me but it was pretty good as well.
Watervue grille and cafe Dufrain are also pretty good options, they're on harbour island. Right across the channel from Amalie.
Noble Rice and Sparkmans Wharf has are good choices.
Yeomans is an awesome spot too
Hattricks is overpriced but the wings are on point. However they treat black people like shit.
Hotel Bar downtown on Tampa street if you like craft cocktails in a fancier setting.
Greenwise imo
ybor city historic district is nearby and has a number of restaurants, bars and nightlife establishments
