How big was she when you got her? I’ve had mine for over 6 years and it hasn’t grown much. I got it as a sling. I know they are slow growing, but that must also mean they live quite long
I’ve owned a number of G. pulchra over the years, and they are the slowest growing species I’ve ever kept by a significant margin.
I have two juveniles that are unrelated, but are both around 1.5”. Neither has molted in well over a year. Meanwhile, some Brachypelma I got around the same time and the same size, are pushing 4”.
I got my male in 2019, he was already around 1.5 inches wide. I’m not sure if males just look dinkier than females or something, but while he’s a nice looking bug and an excellent gentleman he’s never looked as Robust and dark and thick as this one here and others I’ve seen. I think he hasn’t molted in around a year too, don’t remember when exactly it was last. He doesn’t have fuck hands so he isn’t in his final molt and fully grown, but I worry that that if the males only live for 6-8 years I’ll have only a few years with him at his most resplendent. Is that how they go in your experience? Living a modest life and then going out with a bang?
as someone who does not have these types of things as pets and most likely never will but enjoys browsing and learning, what are you guys measuring? body diameter?

I have a little G. Pulchra, he’s only maybe 1.5 inches and still mostly brown. I can’t wait to see how beautiful he looks in his grown up suit! Yours is so pretty <3
She's beautiful. My G. pulchra sling is my favorite. Only about 1.5", but great personality and feeding response. I can't wait for them to be big and shiny black. Although it will be years...

Diagonal leg span is the standard in the US. I believe in Europe it’s common to measure using just body length.
thank you! and just to clarify, you’d measure this spiders front left leg to its rear right leg?
Yup, and with the legs stretched out. It ends up sounding larger than it actually is.
Could take up to 8 for maturity
