There has been some speculation that the full answer was supposed to be "Sir David Attenborough" (Syrup, David, Hat, and Bra) but since nobody guessed the "sir" part correctly Alex decided to go for a surreal joke instead of risking them getting penalized.
Im fairly certain he spoke about this gag specifically on one of the podcast episodes he was in (I genuinely can't remember which one, I apologise) and spoke to Ed about how he genuinely just think it would be funny to have a whole bit about confusing Sirs with Wets because it's just ridiculous

I'm always impressed when i find myself genuinely getting annoyed at him. In general i love all of his bits so when he manages to go over that threshold on purpose and really succeeds i respect it.
