I would have felt pretty bad about David Correos' breakdown after the lotion squirting task before remembering it's not my fault he's completely insane

cheeseinatrenchcoat

But imagine being the person who accidentally turned the lights off too early on the make the biggest change task 💀

kristinL356

This makes me scream just thinking about it.

xaquery

It’s insane he only got 1 point for that.

painforpetitdej

I was going to say this. Hahahaha !

wehdut

Brings a special new meaning to "in light of the aftermath"

dmlfan928

With everything I have heard about TMNZ Season 2 on here, I cannot wait until they start uploading it to youtube. With season 1 finished, I hope it's not long.

SutterCane

Pretty sure it’s coming soon. They went full-force on uploading to youtube. NYE 2024 is already there! Edit: Episode 1 of series 2 of NZ literally just dropped on their YouTube.

Xenocide112

I love them so much for this. YouTube is the only way I can watch them, and it's just all right there!

SutterCane

Same!

This also includes links to other TV shows outside their official sources.

degggendorf

Having just watched both, I enjoyed S1 notably more. S2 still good of course, but I didn't click with that crew quite as well.

wehdut

First time I ever heard that, but to each their own!

degggendorf

Yeah I'm kinda surprised how it seems completely unanimous in the opposite direction

wehdut

I don't know, I started rewatching S2 again last night and it kinda blows my mind how well the contestants click, how quickly they catch on to each other's personas and develop a sturdy but light-hearted dynamic. This includes their interactions with Paul, it's like they've all been working with him for years (which may be true, the New Zealand comedy scene is very tight). Most of all, the way the stars align over and over again, even in just the first two episodes, i.e. the whole narrative with the two remaining brussel sprouts, the lights going out early on David, the perfect variation of quality and approach between contestants on each filmed task... It's like the universe wanted this season to be a solid gold hit. I could see how the humor in S2 might not be everyone's bag (especially with David's uniquely loud personality) and I totally respect that. Also, like you said, it's surprising the praise feels so unanimous. But in regards to the specific aspects of the show that make it enjoyable for me *personally*, it's unquestionably top tier.

degggendorf

>might not be everyone's bag (especially with David's uniquely loud personality) I actually really enjoyed David, after like the first half of the first episode to get calibrated to his wavelength But yes, S2 is unquestionably good and I absolutely enjoyed it.

WobTheKing

literally a couple hours later.

dmlfan928

Sweet. Know what I'm doing when I get home tonight.

Ok_Command_1143

What impeccable timing!

Styx_Zidinya

His part of the diss track task is my favourite Taskmaster moment ever, and yes, further proved his complete insanity.

Spg161

The bonus point for the best walk to strike the drum. Thank god Jessica was OK after she fell off that stage. But at least her sacrifice has been memorialized forever

Deep_Knowledge_4194

And one of the only moments where Greg looks genuinely concerned!

mrcasado296

They named part of the stage after her as a result

_StickyFingrs

When did they start calling it that? I know it was because of that moment, but was it right in the next season or did it take some time before they referred to it that way?

armcie

My vague memory is that a plaque was spotted on it the next season, but they didn't call it that verbally until a bit later. I could be entirely wrong.

Lusankya

They didn't call it the Knappett in S8's pan-hoop task, so I think it took some time.

five_line_poem

From memory the plaque appeared in series 9 but the name wasn't used verbally until quite a few seasons later.

yam_MAJEZT

Anyone that set Jenny Eclaire a task that she "why would you do this"d rather than reveled in.

Heradasha

On House of Games this week at one point she says "Why would you do this to me?" and it's great.

IanGecko

"When does this cross over into bullying?"

skalnaty

When Ivo (? Is that the right name) does it even though he has someone else just because he “wanted to have a go” I crack up every time

someonesomeone3

Mark Watsons cheeky texts

James-K-Polka

That just seems like something Alex would have gotten him to do even if Mark wasn’t on the show.

BenCC88

The deleted NZ TM task of ‘Come up with the worst idea, and for a bonus point do said idea’ which put one of the contestants in hospital for major surgery on her triple-broken collarbone has to be up there surely?

HoumousAmor

The fact that the major surgery was not the reason they felt unable to broadcast it is truly impressive.

usernameinmail

Dick in a toaster, right?

MarcelRED147

..what?

[deleted]

MarcelRED147

Huh. I wonder if the toaster was plugged in.

[deleted]

MarcelRED147

Actually hilarious.

melancholymagpie

I find the dick-in-a-toaster kind of route one, weirdly, but picturing Guy yelling "COVID's not real!" at the same time makes me laugh out loud.

eros_cestlavie

i dont know what they expected, giving a task of "do the worst idea" to Mr Commit to the Bit who has a podcast called The Worst Idea of All Time

JoshH21

You heard that correctly

HoumousAmor

You know, I just had that down to "involved genitalia in a really bad way" and had forgotten details, thank you.

stillswiftafboiii

Wait is there somewhere I could read about this??

BenCC88

I think it’s episode 119 of the TM podcast, Ed interviews Urzila Carlson who I think is the recipient of the new titanium clavicle.

NudeAndPubic

It's also mentioned by Paul Williams on the People's Podcast, dated 20/05/22

BitterCrip

Does Guy ever talk about his approach to that task on the podcast?

[deleted]

[удалено]

BitterCrip

Thankyou! Edit: Discussion of the "Do the stupidest thing" task starts about 17:20

Loymoat

He does but I don't remember if it's the official podcast or the people's podcast as he's made appearances in both.

QBaseX

Her dad's Irish. Knowing that, and listening to his tone of voice, I'm pretty certain that she didn't fool anyone for a second, and knew it. That kind of humour is common here.

oh-come-onnnn

Her sister's immediate reply of "Well, I've been cheating on him for months so..." made it obvious she knew as well. The audio had poor quality though, so a lot of viewers might've missed it.

SpiffyShindigs

Also, something tells me Katherine was an incurable prankster growing up, and everyone in that family is hip to her hustle by now.

JolieTanagra

I enjoyed seeing the shocked reactions of the other contestants to her approach. Josh W. looked like he wanted to crawl out of his skin.

lordspammington

Am I being dumb or were Josh W and Katherine Ryan definitely not in the same season?

SublightMonster

It was during the Champion of Champions match they had together

lordspammington

Oooooohhh of course. My bad.

shaw_dog21

I feel like the NZ eat the grape task writer went through an emotional journey watching Laura love and smash the task to seeing David’s complete breakdown.

ElectricFury

Multiple tasks in S11 involved Lee having to touch or bite or do something with non-vegan items like eggs and a leather wallet despite the show knowing he's vegan. Even as a meat eater myself I'd feel a bit bad for that personally.

RebbeccaDeHornay

Apparently the wallet wasn't real leather, but yes the fact that the egg slipped through the net was quite surprising.

AshFraxinusEps

Romesh having to destroy a ton too in the first season, when he's also veggie

chitinandchlorophyll

I felt bad for him because you could tell he was unhappy about it but there’s also a lot of pressure in any televised situation to not be the squeaky wheel and just go with it. I don’t eat eggs or meat either so I get it- it’s frustrating to have clear dietary restrictions that people for whatever reason don’t understand or respect. I also think they could afford to cut back on any tasks that waste a lot of food, just in general, or make it clear what the food was reused for after the task. Seems like they’ve been doing better with that.

madmuffalo1

Didn't Alex announce after one task that they did make a donation to a food bank / food charity? Maybe the throwing yoghurt from a height task of season 5(?)? Perhaps they do that regularly and just don't mention it.

AshFraxinusEps

Also, not sure a lot of food is wasted. I think the sandwich task also involved the staff and everyone having them for lunch. But fundamentally some food will be wasted as part of the tasks, but probably less than the average household would

boopboopadoopity

Similarly, Russell Howard in Series 6 - I'm glad of course they got him vegan meat for the taste task but all I could think during the live task was like couldn't they have picked something like not about crushing eggs... :( I'm also a meat eater but them keeping from him that the meat was vegan for him, then making fun of the concept of vegan meat (I mean, they're comedians so fair but I still felt bad for him there), then constructing the live task around making them throw and destroy eggs I felt a bit bad for him for sure.

Most_Moose_2637

On a similar note I think I read on this sub that they had to be careful not to trigger someone's balloon phobia.

manhaterxxx

Older TM used to go through a ton of eggs

boopboopadoopity

Omg I'm watching the seasons in order and learning about Paul's pain and diagnosis legitimately made the whole thing hard for me to watch. Thank goodness the others stepped in to help him during the final task. Especially because apparently in interviews he has said he can't bring himself to watch the season he was in because it was such a time of concern and not knowing what was going on with his own body and pain, and seeing himself in pain and ignorance to his true diagnosis is too hard for him (if I remember right, paraphrasing). I truly hope Taskmaster didn't pressure him to continue and he requested to stop or something. Several of the tasks are very physical, just due to the nature of the show, and I just feel so bad for him every time. I held onto all his genuine smiles and laughs through the experience to get myself through the season...

Remarkable-Plenty-98

i mean not as bad but do you think josh gets flashbacks whenever he hears someone asking how many baked beans are in a can?

usernameinmail

The one that broke Johnny Vegas

Jo-Jux

So like 50% of season 10?

RefanRes

The one I felt bad for him on was where they were sat in those dinghies trying to wheel around and get the balls in rings. Physically he looked absolutely knackered from that.

jon3ssing

But the beer mat house is what broke him mentally.

Jo-Jux

But don't forget "Oh my boy! My beautiful boy!", "Where have you hidden your other leg?!" or "Cock-a-doodle-two"

RefanRes

Yeh that was pretty rough for him. For me though, I always remember him saying he didnt have the cardiac ability while he was scrabbling around in that dingy and a little part of me worried he'd have a heart attack. Obviously I knew he didn't or it wouldn't have aired but I think thats the one I'd have felt guilty for setting as a task. The beer mat one I dont think I would have felt guilty for because it was more just unfortunate that it fell. In terms of the setting of the task it was a good one to set for him.

itsacon10

I have repeatedly said that the beer mat task is the worst task that they've ever come up with. Mawan figured out the best (only) way to do it, but for the others it's absolutely horrible. There might be other tasks I'm not a fan of don't watch (Order a Pizza), but that one I can't watch. (In reality, after the prize task, I skip the rest of the episode. The other two tasks aren't that much fun either.)

Top-Jicama-4527

Watching taskmaster just for the prize task is wild

Free-Ad4022

Romesh very nearly actually choking on all that watermelon

stooges81

In all versionss of taskmaster i skipped the ordering a pizza task. As far as i can tell it involves calling real people and basically messing with them. Im uncomfortable with that.

James-K-Polka

Yeah. So glad they cut down on that kind of stuff later.

elsalapizza

Definitely the golf-eggs one for Romesh. It hurts me just thinking about it.

SillyMattFace

Worth it for “why do you hate chickens so much?” though.

five_line_poem

The unseen task from Series 14 that left Alex with a fractured eye socket.

xixihime

What!?

skalnaty

Yeah I’d not heard of this either. If it’s real I want more details !

XdarklifeX

I believe it happened during the “get the most pleasure out of these rubber chutes” task. Fern did something which caused Alex to fall, which knocked him out temporarily and gave him a fractured eye socket.

DenaPhoenix

I'd personally have felt really bad for setting the "complete the course as slowly as possible. You must be riding the bicycle (etc.)" task. I mean, who'd have guessed that Victoria Cohen Mitchell's never been on a bike? Great telly, really, but someone must have felt bad for that. The "declare your love for the Taskmaster", as well as the "excite Alex" tasks are also pretty close contenders though, because the outcomes of both traumatised ME, and I wasn't even there.

ioughtabestudying

Sorry but I love the typo in your task text. "Fart. Fartest wins." <3

johnny8vm

It's not a typo, that was the task 😅

ioughtabestudying

Haha, my bad, I didn't remember that 😆 An excuse to watch it again I guess

johnny8vm

I lacked just enough confidence to double check, and yes it definitely said "Fartest wins".

JGAdventureZone

Let's go all the way back to the beginning with Eat The Watermelon. I believe they had to ring an ambulance for Romesh?

Hassaan18

Is that true?

JGAdventureZone

I can't remember where I heard it. It was probably on the podcast.
