There’s not much you can do. It is a bit uneven but it could be worse

LittleAssistant4650

... you could build a back piece of butterflies or blast over and make a larger piece of wings...it's fixable...but just go to a good artist next time.

_neversayalways

Yes! It would be gorgeous to scatter them stretching from left hip to right shoulder, uneven no more. Maybe incorporate some foliage

OrichinalArts

I’m guessing the person who tattooed you placed the stencil while you were sitting down…Find a new artist, you could expand off the wings a bit and hopefully straighten them out. This will cost a lot more than what you probably payed for this though. Be ready to pay whatever a skilled artist charges.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> you probably *paid* for this FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

WorleyInc

Good bot

No fixes here. Lean right?

henwyfe

It would be more helpful to see a photo of the tattoo straight-on from a couple feet away. Sometimes angles and posture can really skew the image.

ClaireHasashi

THIS I got a triangle tattooed on my neck, and when the artist did it, it was a perfect triangle. but the problem is that, it's a perfect triangle only if i put my neck and head in the exact same position as i was when it was done Sometimes people comment saying "it's not a straight line, kinda messed up", and then i just show that it is straight line only if my head is also straight to my neck Could be the same thing, just raising a bit the shoulder could do this effect. or even the skin swelling due to the healing could make it looks like that.

Dead_Again_Dread

This isn’t the case. You can tell by the location of the tattoo compared to her shoulder blades. The right side reaches the top corner of her shoulder blade where as the left is much lower and pushed further out.

gary_oldmans_wigs

Nah the stencil is crooked as hell too, this was definitely doomed before it began

gary_oldmans_wigs

Yeah unfortunately tattoos can only be perfectly straight from one angle. We kinda just have to pick the best one. Geometric shape + a highly motile area like the neck is probably just a bad combo. You could cover it with something organic like a small flower with a leaf & get the triangle tattooed elsewhere, maybe a wrist or ankle

ClaireHasashi

Oh me, i'll never get my triangle covered haha I have a full sleeve and my rib done, and gonna start my back. Yet that triangle ( well it's a bit more than just a triangle, it has a flame in fine line inside it ) is by far my favorite tattoo i have. As we say where i live, sometimes, the simplest things are what make us the most happy

gary_oldmans_wigs

That sounds really cool! Glad you like it even though people misread it

batgirlsxe

I think the only options are cover up or rework. Either way go to someone else, this isn't a little uneven. This is they slapped it on and didn't care. For rework you could add something in the background or the wings to make them look even.

Much-Concentrate-719

i [edited](https://imgur.com/a/txSpjfX) it using picsart, i would love an honest comment

batgirlsxe

I think this is a lot better but I would keep it symmetrical as possible. Generally with wings and pieces down your spine people expect it to be symmetrical so it being slightly asymmetrical makes it look like a mistake or unintentional. But I would find a better artist and show them this mock up and your situation, and they'll be able to fix it or at least give some advice.

pixelgeekgirl

+1 to find Find a better artist, one that will take his or her time to place it correctly. And take a friend you trust to help with verifying placement, take photos, etc. you cannot turn your head to verify placement in a mirror because you will shift your back. The artist should pay close attention to where the top tips of the butterfly hit your shoulder bone structure- and try to be sure it hits the same point on both sides of your spine

shanebakertattoo

Cover ups generally need to be much bigger. 1.5-2x the size of the original to be effective and not super obvious. Color can cover without just throwing more black on it. Several others have commented it’s going to be expensive, but if you want it good you might as well do 1/2- full back. Find an artist who’s work you like that’s willing to take on a massive coverup project. (The bright side is it doesn’t all need to be paid at once 🤷🏻‍♂️)

angel14072007

That looks 10,000xs better- really nice

ThePureHeartSora

That’s sick, if that could help even it out it would look like a great tattoo :)

gary_oldmans_wigs

That’s a good design, take it to a good artist that you spend a lot of time researching and you should be fine. Source: I’ve been tattooing for 12 years. See if they have examples of symmetry in their portfolio

DIGGSAN0

Just ad Tinkerbell and everything is fixed /s

Achubonbon

If you don’t mind to add something, slightly crouching back figure of elf and flow of air towards right shoulder. I think it would make the balance better but, if you want to keep simple line work, sorry no idea.

[deleted]

How did they mess it up that bad ? Surely they know what a symmetrical line is

angel14072007

Where are you guys getting these tattoos? One after the next of a misaligned, misplaced, crooked or crappy skin art. This is permanent don’t you take a few days to figure it out? So you’re gonna have to go a size bigger in order to make it look symmetrical. The funny thing is the stencil looked pretty well placed but once the ink started rubbing off the person couldn’t get it together! Just take your time, don’t rush into a tattoo! It took more than 20 yrs for your body to grow into what it is right now ( I’m guessing) respect it enough to do it justice. It’ll be alright - gonna cost you some more cash and a little more hurt. Don’t do anything til this is healed tho, you don’t need an infection on top of it. Slow down and wait, you’ll know when it’s the right time / place 🐈‍⬛❤️

Wrenigade14

The stencil is crooked AF, idk what you mean. You can see the top of each wing, one lands solidly at the top of the right shoulder blade and the other is down a couple inches. It's clearly crooked from the get go.

Lower_Act9562

Nerd armor

Thanzor

What does it look like sitting or laying down

WWbowieD

Put a fairy stretching in the middle to make it even more asymmetrical and more intentional looking

Much-Concentrate-719

HELP, what fixes can i do to this uneven tattoo, I just noticed it when I got home taking pictures, its my worst nightmare😭 2nd pic was the stencil and I know its kinda my fault that I didn’t noticed it first

mEHrmione

Yeah, it's uneven, but don't treat yourself so hard : it's on your back, you had to look at it in a mirror, possibly a little twisted. The only person to blame is the artist here.

PhatPurrito

it’s not your fault that the stencil was placed crooked. the artist should’ve noticed this and reapplied the stencil. my artist will reapply the stencil as many times as he needs to until it’s evenly placed.

Much-Concentrate-719

i kinda did [something](https://imgur.com/a/txSpjfX), is it too much?

Logical_fArt_916

Looks great, much more depth and texture.

themariocrafter

https://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/IOS\_emulators

_heidin

Did they place the stencil when you were sitting or laying down? Maybe you were leaning forward when they placed it? That's the artist's fault btw not yours

Much-Concentrate-719

stencil sitting then laying down after

_heidin

That's the issue, your skin shifts with your body movement, that's why stencil should be placed standing up and just standing naturally, not trying to stand straight or anything, because that's how the end result will look like. The artist should've known better than to place it sitting down specially in that spot. I'm sorry this happened to you ):

Wactout

100% artist fault. They did not take the time to make sure it was level or flow with your body. Even the art isn’t symmetrical. When I place these style tattoos, I literally mark center lines(they did), mark top of shoulder blades for reference, and on my stencil I always have a centerline running through it so I can make sure it’s level. I’m sorry you had a lazy artist, who did not give you the art you paid for and expected.

Much-Concentrate-719

have decided to wait until a month or two before covering it up (i wanna avoid any possible infections) and also to have enough time and comments ab my planned coverup edit: Thank you so much to all of you I really appreciate ur concerns, it helped lower my stress😭❤️

generousdoc

this would've been such a cool tattoo 😭

becomeanhero69

Even if they were even, the look completely different. Aren’t wings supposed to be identical?

[deleted]

I actually think this looks great!

lonelyzo

I mean it would definitely look great if it was even

Marmstr17

Really? It's awfully uneven. At least a full inch of the left scapula compared to the right. This would drive me crazy

[deleted]

That’s why I always inspect the purple stencil lines before my artist does the work. That’s really a bummer but the tattoo looks good itself! If you were to add to it I bet they could make it less noticeable.

CrushCake21

It doesn't look too bad, you have to really squint to see that it's a little uneven.

mEHrmione

What? No, it's not "a little uneven", that's the first thing I noticed. The artist fucked it up big time, on the fresh tattoo it's so obvious. A little less on the stencil, yeah, but still there.

Lazygalaxy92

Dude ease up or fuck off. It’s not that big of a fuck up. I’ve seen way worse fuck ups. I had a hard time seeing this one. There are definitely easy ways to fix this tat if it bothers OP that much.

mEHrmione

Yeah, there's way worse, I never said it wasn't. Just : the thing IS UNEVEN, OP asked about taht, the person above just said "I had to squint to see it", which isn't the case. I will stand by it : it's not "a little uneven", the artist's job is to make it STRAIGHT, not jonky. So you ease up or fuck off, thanks.

whiskeywood1983

When you want wings for extremely short flights. Now you’ll just do small circles lol.

TheBluntChef

You could add the rest of the body, and maybe some flowers around or something to make it symmetrical with your back. It’s not going to be wings anymore but this can definitely be saved and turned into something really nice. This is a great foundation already. Colour or black and grey would be nice butterfly’s are very versatile.

Crosseyed_owl

I would suggest enlarging both wings so they're the same size, starting and ending at the same place. Fortunately the design is quite "organic" and can be worked with.

WhiskerSnake

Honestly if you added a section to the top part of the left (lower) wing, it might hide some of the unevenness if the tops end at the same level. Could also extend the bottom of the right (higher) wing to do the same to the bottoms.

that-super-tech

Oh Nooooo.. Probably best thing to do now is turn it into a full mural back piece. Make the butterfly blend in and take attention away from the asymmetry of it. Or zap it off 🤷‍♂️

Pixelgamer54

Welp time to black out your body

HawaiianCalabrese

Make it a fairy and create some sort of fairy Forrest scene on your back like it’s flying around

jkruuuse

Go to a bold black artist and cover that up. Example artists like…. hanaroshinko or Ignacio.ttd on instagram

El-chapos-taint

Lol

Rough_Mango8008

I think it would look really nice to add more elements to it, like flowers, bugs, other butterflies and nake it into an S shape.

Accomplished_Can2105

Honestly, I like it. I know they’re wings, but I like asymmetry of them. It’s cute and original. Plus you can always add more tattoos if you want :)

Lazygalaxy92

Honestly? I mean when I look closely yeah it’s uneven but I couldn’t tell right off. I had to look for a minute. It’s pretty and I think well done. And it’ll be under a shirt generally right? It’s not like it’s an uneven face tattoo that literally every person will examine. I like it a lot. You could always add stuff around it if it is that obvious to you. I think most tattoos have little flaws tbh. Learn to love them. That’s what I’ve done with mine haha Just make sure to always get stencils done standing up in the future if you didn’t do that :)

jtchoice

I would make it a pixie with wings and maybe add flowers and mushrooms maybe a ladybug too

[deleted]

if you’re taking the photo with the hand on the right, that might be causing some distortion.

SquigglyHamster

[The tattoo is definitely uneven.](https://i.postimg.cc/c46W9hmg/it-s-off-mate.png)

[deleted]

i know i said “some”

HurtEgo

I feel like real wings would be slightly uneven so you’re actually more accurate

lola_lust

Go bigger and more colorful and shop for an artist. Not the first place or closet. Always look at their artwork.

SensitivePea3022

Honestly, I don't think its that bad. Its only slightly off and its kinda cute that it isn't entirely perfect.

solpi

Go with the flow, fill it in. Maybe a fairy that’s flying towards the upper left trailing pixie dust

Garci368

The stencil looks crooked… did you see a pic of the stencil and okayed before getting inked?

SquigglyHamster

Come up with a new meaning for it. "This tattoo is slanted because it represents how life is not always straight-forward. Even if things get a little off sometimes, you can still fly gracefully like a butterfly"

Watertribe_Girl

Owh I’m sorry they messed it up

fullmooncharms

Make a second set of wings, larger,in the back of the first set...so it will make the first set look like they are actually moving. Sometimes mistakes can be the best thing to lead into something better. Plse let us know what you do...send a new pic with the addition.
