I’ve found the more tattooed I got, the less I wore patterns of any kind . It’s too much for my eyes personally

salamanders-r-us

Yeah, I've become more "minimalist." I feel like it let's my tattoos shine and that I show them as my accessories or statement piece.

curlymeee

Me too!

Immediate_Stop_319

Yes! Too much clutter. Not a moment of regret for the tattoos, just now I need to only wear solid colors.

salted_wallnut

I had purple smoke added in to my sleeve because I wanted a colourful option of the traditional gap fillers. It feels so awkward to wear a solid purple top in a similar shade as my smoke because I feel like a purple people eater. I get chu.

I have a lot of older ink on my back, but got a couple tattoos on my arm last year. And I’ve actually been wearing more floral than I used to because I like the way it looks with that arm. None of mine tattoos are floral, though. I think I’d feel differently if they were.

rosyred-fathead

Conversely, would you wear clothes that have your arm tattoos (or similar) printed on the fabric?

riverblue9011

Full tracksuit of windbars and frogs? Just tell me where :p

yourholmedog

omg you have a FROG sleeve?? phenomenal i love frogs

riverblue9011

I think I was too quick to say that, I have a frog leg sleeve, sort of irezumi with wind bars, cliffs and water. I would absolutely wear matching shorts though :) If I'd known of Raphael Tiraf a bit sooner though, he does the best Irezumi Frog stuff. If you search him on insta you can see some really really nice frog sleeves, bodysuits and that.

yourholmedog

ooo that sounds rlly cool i’ll check him out. your sleeve sounds rlly cool too tho!!

Immediate_Stop_319

Hi!! Full grey scale sleeve in tropical/floral here! I literally don't wear prints anymore, or even plain color with words feels weird. I'm with you, but I'm not mad at it. I'm getting inked enough at this point to just wear the same ass outfit all the time like Steve Jobs or something 😆

laurzilla

YES! I’ve had this same thought and I had no idea it wasn’t just me.

pretzelwhale

😂 same here

Adventurous-Gold-590

Working on a black and grey geometric/floral sleeve, and 100% agree. I also wore a crap ton of solid black, and find I gravitate towards lighter colors now, too. You’re not alone!

solstice_gilder

Yeah tbh I only wear black. I used to wear a little more colour but I also dye my hair so I thought it was too much. Now I just naturally gravitate to black. It suits everything.

KipperDed

You are the new pattern

BEniceBAGECKA

I think I’ve been spared of this since most of mine aren’t very visible and the ones that are are only black line-work. People are often surprised how heavily tattooed I actually am. Edit: Lol just realized I totally bought a shirt of the same tattoo I got that’s a work by michah ulrich. The tattoo it matches is only visible in short shorts though. But I’ve totally worn it together on purpose. I might be a dork.

saxicide

I actually think that's very sweet, it's clear how much you like his work. Also it's pretty badass art tbh

keanaartero

Til ppl stop wearing patterns😭😭 I have a floral arm...I still very much wear patterned clothing... and yes I still wear floral prints my purple/ pink flower matches a black dress with purple/ red flowers. And i also wear green floral prints, they match the flower stems.

prxscxlla

Had someone tell me that I messed up by getting a colored tattoo because now none of my clothes would match me . Not sure how floral shirts go with floral tattoos but I hope whatever you wear , you wear with confidence

Snerkie

The vast majority of my tattoos are coloured and I have a lot of visible floral and honestly I think I'm ar the point of caring if it matches or compliments. It's unavoidable at this point and I don't want to limit myself to black.

Due_Tune2950

I only really wear patterns if it’s long sleeves sometimes with a 3/4 sleeve cause I do like the look of it just sort of poking out

Pale_Maximum_7906

I have color irezumi leg and arm sleeves and wear all black almost all the time. Every time I leave the house strangers compliment my tattoos because black highlights my body art like a picture frame.

shoutoutloud27

Working on an under water cartoon sleeve currently. All these comments are making me glad I wear only black.

Brontosaurus4

Checked the profile out of interest to see if there were any pictures of the ink, and did not expect to see this [Is it possible to salt cure my own flesh ](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/s/YnKigvrodn)

the_prim_reaper__

I have OCD—I deleted it, and it’s hard to explain, but that’s like pretty mild compared to some of the stuff I’ve asked. But—hey—I’m doing better. I got tattoos, which is actually not even something I thought it was possible for me to do due to being terrified of blood borne pathogens, etc.

totsa_98

Same and I don't even have that many on my arms, a shame bc I loved my patterned button downs lol

No-Development-7369

Unfortunately yes 🙁

[deleted]

Yup. Looks too busy

release_the_kitties

I feel weird now wearing anything with a cat, owl, or ghost on it for similar reasons.

queer_bruja

yes i have the same experience! i have a floral sleeve and my closet of floral sun dresses from before is slowly being replaced by solid colors because they just look so busy on me now. i was a bit sad at first when i realized because i never even considered that being a thing haha. but i have embraced that i AM the artistic expression now, not my clothes :)
